Re: Sebastian and Hunter
Sebastian laughed a little, not totally sure if he agreed. He’d never been one of those people that could sleep anywhere, but it sounded like Jen was. It was interesting to see them together, to see how different they were. But then he wasn’t anything like his siblings either. “Good to see you, Jen,” he said, giving her a little wave when she wandered off. He bit his lip and gave Hunter’s hoodie string a little tug. “Do you need to go?” He immediately dropped his hand away, trying not to fidget and keep his hands to himself. “She doesn’t seem like much of a party person.”
That was not something a straight guy would do, was it? It felt weirdly intimate, especially when accompanied by that question, and Hunter thought for a second he might just die. "Not yet," he said and raised his glass. There was too much in it to just leave it behind so he at least needed to finish his drink. "Soon though, probably." He sounded as sad about it as he felt. Talking to a cute guy was just a lot more tempting than going home to deal with some horrible ghost that wanted to hurt him. He thought he could still feel that light tug on his sweater from where Sebastian had pulled on the string which was completely crazy because he'd barely felt that touch in the first place. It still felt significant and he licked his lips as he tried to calm his racing mind. "Unless I take a cab home or something."
Take a cab, Sebastian thought, but he really couldn’t say. He couldn’t spend the rest of the evening with Hunter or he might as well announce to the entire party that he was gay. Because he wasn’t sure he could spend that long with Hunter and not… not stop. Not keep his hands to himself. It was horribly tempting and for a tiny moment he wondered why not? What was the worst that could happen? And then he remembered the laundry list of reasons why he was still in the closet and wondered if that list would ever feel surmountable. It was sobering, but then Hunter sounded sad and he wanted to find a way to cheer him up again. “We should hang out sometime. Maybe. If you want to,” he said, able to actually hear his anxiety. “I mean, there doesn’t have to be another party. Though parties are always good.”
Hunter drank as he listened, amusement dancing in his eyes as he watched Sebastian over the rim of his cup. He had definitely decided that Sebastian McCarthy was gay. At least bi. Did he even know it himself? Hunter was dying to show him, but he wasn't stupid enough - or drunk enough - to do something that risky. He was feeling accepted, not just by Sebastian but by his friends who had no problem with their buddy chatting and drinking with The Gay Kid. The last thing he needed to do was add to his problems by blowing all that up. "I'd be up for that," he said and the thought of hanging out with Sebastian at either of their houses, alone, sitting side by side playing video games or watching Netflix made him feel a little warmer all over. "What kind of stuff are you into?"
Sebastian was pretty sure he was making a fool of himself, more aware of it now than he had been earlier, but Hunter didn’t seem horribly put off by it. If anything, he seemed… interested, maybe? Amused and definitely friendly, and that was all he could hope for at this point. Which was frustrating as hell, but a hell of his own creation. “Video games? I’ve got an xbox and a playstation. I’ve been working through the new Fallout game, but I love Halo and Call of Duty and pretty much everything,” Sebastian said, able to relax into the question. “Um, I read, but that’s not really a shared thing,” he laughed. “I’ve been watching How I Met Your Mother lately, and have, like, twenty different shows I’m supposed to start afterwards. I like a little of everything, honestly.”
