Re: greg and jules - early in the evening
"Nope," Greg said with some bemusement. "She went home with Brent." He was relieved, honestly, because it meant he didn't have to deal with Brent glaring at him all night. He'd need to clear the air before the next game but it would be easier when alcohol wasn't involved. "So... You're seeing Jasper Lucas now?" Okay so he did care enough to ask but it was more curiosity than anything. "He treating you okay?" He would definitely throw down with Jasper if he didn't, even if he was pretty sure he'd fight dirty. Not that he'd ever had a problem with him but they weren't exactly friendly. More like Jasper wasn't on good terms with anyone but some people were just like that.
That wasn't super surprising to Jules. Heather was all drama. She would probably be hitting up Greg's phone in the next couple of days. She parted her lips to answer him but found herself hesitating for a moment before shrugging. "I mean, I guess we're seeing each other. It's kind of complicated...ish. I don't know. But yeah, I mean, of course he's treating me okay. Good, even. I wouldn't be with some guy who was a total asshole, you know. It's nice that you care," Jules added with a teasing grin. "And you don't have to worry about me and Sebastian getting back together."
"You'll still steal him for every dance, admit it," Greg said with a grin. He hadn't really liked it when Sebastian and Jules dated, something about it had just felt off and Sebastian was way too sweet for Jules. Maybe she needed a guy like Jasper to handle her, who knew. "You make good royalty together." He was glad they were friends at least, he couldn't imagine the tension there had been after they first broke up lasting throughout the senior year. It would leave the whole high school in ruins.
"I might," Jules teased. If she and Jasper were still together, and he didn't want to go to the other dances with her, Sebastian might. Then again, he might have a girlfriend by then, she didn't know. And who knows what would have happened if Jules hadn't hooked up with Jasper at that party in June. Maybe she would have still been moping over Sebastian. Maybe school would have been terrible. At least she could officially be friends with Greg again, even if he purposely annoyed her practically every day. Sighing, Jules slipped her arm into Greg's to walk him back toward the stairs. "You're drunk, aren't you? Don't do anything stupid."
"Whoa, triggered," Greg exclaimed, pulling away from her jokingly. "Don't be hating on stupid, Jules. I can be stupid when sober too, no biggie!" He grabbed her arm again and tittered. "Sounds to me like you're not drunk enough if you're worrying about me, you want some rum? I've got some right here." He still had some in his flask since he'd had plenty of other drinks once he got to the party. What was the fun in being sober at a party? There was no fun, that's what.
