Re: Ruby and Jules
Oh god it felt like it would take ages to tell him what that was all about and she had no idea where to start. Especially with people still lingering nearby and the vodka churning through her. Jules wasn’t eager to try and explain to Jasper the saga of she and Ruby’s friendship either. Ex-friendship. It was just too much right then. And even if she had wanted to, she was way too focused on the first part of that question to do anything more that gape at him. “What’s wrong with me? Why isn’t it what’s wrong with her?” Jules grabbed her cup and slipped away from his arm to storm out of the kitchen, tired of being some kind of sideshow for everyone else. They were all going to be talking about it and that irritated her. Stupid Ruby being stupid and ruining her night. Jules was fucking homecoming queen. She didn’t need other girls accusing her of being fake and sticking their fingers down her... non-boyfriend’s pants. Okay it was just his pocket but still.
The crowd had been dispersing, but Jasper saw several heads swivel to watch Jules storm out. He sighed internally, watching the floaty back of her dress for a second before she got out of sight. He’d only asked it that way because she was the one still standing there, and he’d been pretty sure she was going to deck Ruby. He tossed one glance toward the big French doors that led out onto the patio, then turned to follow Jules. She was drunk, so she would be harder to calm down, but it would be way worse if he just let her go. He felt too stoned to deal with this, and like he still didn’t understand what had happened. Hopefully Ruby could explain it to him, but girls were weird, so maybe he would never get it.
