Friday night seemed like so much of a real Date Night, it hadn’t occurred to Jasper to suggest that. He stared at her for a heartbeat or two then nodded. First Jules wanted him to come to the game in the first place, and then she wanted him to take her out afterward? What weird-ass alternate reality had they slipped into? “All right then,” he said, quirking a little half-smile at her. “Friday night it is.” He tried to picture them after the game, with everybody milling around either excited that they’d won or pissed that they’d lost, Jules in her cheer uniform, and what kind of stir they would make walking out together with Jasper’s arm slung around her shoulders. She probably wouldn’t allow that at all, but letting him take her out somewhere ... it was definitely a change. One he wasn’t positive how to feel about yet, but that was okay. Jasper was willing to find out. He glanced at the pizza roll between her fingers. “Are you gonna eat that, or just tease it?”
Jules might wonder what she was thinking later, when she wasn't feeling the residuals from pot and sex and wearing Jasper's clothes... but right now, it sounded kind of nice, having real plans with a boy she was sleeping with on the regular. Okay, sure, her mom would freak the fuck out, but just because they were going to a movie didn't mean everyone in the world had to know about it. She glanced down at the pizza roll then rolled her eyes. "I didn't want to talk with my mouth stuffed full of pizza rolls." Still, she took a small bite, lifting her brows as if to say Better?. Since she had a while before she needed to leave, Jules stretched out her legs on the couch to get comfortable. She didn't feel weird at all about resting her feet in Jasper's lap, which she did as she munched on the rest of the pizza roll. "I'm going to have to skip Moxie's like, all week because of this," she said. "Or run an extra mile around the track after cheer practice."
Jasper laughed at her facial expression a bit and shook his head. “God forbid you gain a fraction of a pound,” he teased, but very lightly because girls were crazy about their weight. And Jules was a little more crazy than most. He rested one hand on the top of one of Jules’s feet, reaching for a few more pizza rolls for himself with his free hand. He popped them all in his mouth and started to chew, picking up the beer to wash it down with. He still hadn’t settled on a channel, unable to concentrate on the TV with Jules there talking about dates and stuff. “Sorry it ain’t caviar and champagne or whatever you usually snack on.” He shot her a grin. He knew she wasn’t that snobby, but she probably didn’t consume frozen junk food at the rate he did.
"I hate caviar," Jules shot back. "I like pizza and Moxie's burgers and stuff, but I can't eat that stuff when it's cheer season. It's mostly greens and stuff... coffee." She leaned over to pick up another pizza roll. "Tamara usually makes fish and stuff like that for dinner, which is nice. I think if I were left to like, make my own dinner, I'd just order take out or whatever. I hate cooking." Mostly because she didn't know how to do it, nor did she have any interest in trying. She had someone to cook for her, and if she went out, other people made the food. Easy peasy. "I do like champagne, though," Jules added with a smile. "Not that I drink it with snacks, but still. We should totally get pizza after the movie though. Real pizza. None of this frozen food stuff."
It was strange to think about sometimes, how different two people’s lives could be in the same town. Jasper wondered if Jules would be surprised to hear he’d never even tasted caviar in his life, and champagne only once. He suspected it had been the gross cheap stuff, too. He knew who Tamara was just from listening to Jules talk in the past, but he couldn’t imagine having someone around to cook and clean for him. She probably lived in Seaview with most of his family. For a second, Jasper wondered if this match up would ever work, but he pushed that away. It wasn’t like they were getting married, just going out to the fucking movies. “We will definitely get pizza,” Jasper agreed, popping some more food into his mouth.
