Jules knew perfectly well football games and dances and social stuff was not Jasper's thing. And she knew what it meant to ask him and for him to say yes, because if he wanted to do something he was interested in... Jules would probably do it, even if it was not her cup of tea. So she grinned and returned his kiss when he said he would 'put in an appearance', because that was really all she needed. It would be kind of hot to see him in the bleachers, or somewhere nearby, while she was being celebrated for being on Homecoming Court again. When he mentioned her having to do something for him, Jules arched a brow and slipped her finger into the waistband of his boxers, tugging at them until she released them against his abdomen. "Again?" Of course she assumed he meant something sexual, because what else could she possibly do?
The elastic snap made Jasper laugh a bit, but he shook his head. He could get sexy favors from her anytime, he knew that pretty solidly now, but he wasn’t sure how Jules would take this. He let her go to reach for the hex bag sitting on the counter, and he held it up for her to see. “I need you to carry this with you,” he said, his expression sobering up a bit as he watched her reaction. “It’s to protect you. You gotta ... I dunno, sew it into your purse or something, somewhere it’ll always be close. I know it sounds stupid, but my dad swears by these and I got some and the witch seemed legit, and I wanna get more for you, but I could only afford one so far, so ...” He licked his lips and swallowed, hoping she wasn’t about to laugh in his face. It would be worth it though, if Jules actually listened. “... oh and it needs something of you in it. Like a piece of hair or some fingernails or something.”
Jules looked at the hex bag, then back at Jasper's face, her brow raising in mild curiosity. It looked like a little, cheap bag full of... something. It took her a moment to remember what he had told her about his dad, and protection stuff and all that. It then started to sink in a bit that he had thought about her while he was out seeking it, and he had actually spent money on her. She wondered how much these things cost that he could only afford one. Jules found that stupidly sweet, which made her feel sort of silly and uncertain. Then, of course, Jasper had to go and mention something gross, like using her hair or fingernails in this thing. She wrinkled her nose and reached out to pluck the bag from his fingers. "Okay, for one, my fingernails? Ew. I guess I could use a piece of hair if you really think this will work. Secondly, though, who was the witch? Like... what was that like?" She still wasn't sure she believed in all that magic stuff, but Jasper seemed to, and Jules didn't want to make fun of it if he thought this would actually work. And it felt easier to ask questions than to dwell on the fact that he had wanted to protect her too.
Jasper didn’t see anything gross about a fingernail clipping that had just been on your finger, but it was kind of cute that it grossed Jules out. She was such a girl. He was stupidly relieved that she didn’t roll her eyes and call him stupid for believing in that stuff ... which was something he might have done himself a couple of weeks ago. They both knew better now. “Hair will work, that’s what she put in mine,” he said. He just barely stopped himself from tugging open a drawer to grab some scissors to do it now. Before she left though, Jasper told himself he would make sure her bag was complete. “She, uh ... okay, but you can’t tell anyone, all right? Like, I dunno if I’m supposed to say or not. But she runs that Belladonna store. Reagan Kelly? She’s got a whole back room for this kinda shit, with shelves of jars and herbs and stuff. She knew exactly what I wanted, and just like ...” he made a mixing sort of hand gesture in the air in front of him and shrugged. “Made the bags. There wasn’t any sparkly magic to see or anything, but ... can’t hurt, right? And both my parents believe in it, and they’ve made it this far, so ...” Jasper shrugged again, feeling a little stupid all of the sudden, but more than willing to push through it. It would be worth it if Jules was a little safer out there.
