The car wash definitely didn't need his supervision, though he was playing the part of dutiful, supportive teacher and coming out to contribute to the cause. He also figured several other teachers and the students who had cars would be here, as well as some of the parents, so it was a good opportunity for an informal, casual, meet and greet, and to touch base with any student who didn't want to make a formal office-hours meeting but who still wanted to talk about something. Granted, the year had just started but there'd been the whole summer for things to crop up and maybe some carry-over drama from the past school year. He, after all, was still learning things about the kids - and this town, and his fellow teachers - but what better way to learn than to thrown ones self into things. After surrendering his car to be washed, Tris took a casual stance, hands in pockets, moving out of the way of the main event. He wasn't actually a part of it, after all, and he didn't want to get splashed or something - entirely by accident, he was sure. He saw plenty of familiar faces in the knots of people also just hanging out to support the kids, and he offered a nod to anyone whose eye he happened to catch, but he wouldn't invade someone's conversational group without an invite. Still, there were a couple he kept a sort of casual eye on all the same as he watched the car wash and the other activities in the area. It was a nice enough day for it, and he thought it looked like a reasonable turnout; hopefully it brought in some funds for the athletes. |
