WEATHER AND NOTABLE EVENTS Sunday, September 3-Wednesday, September 6
Sunday, September 3: Weather: Mostly Sunny; 73°/41°
EVENTS
→ The Chamberlain High cheerleaders are holding a car wash in the high school parking lot to raise money for the Chamberlain Athletic Department. They're accepting donations of any amount, and they promise you a sparkling clean vehicle.
→ The town is in a titter- over a domestic dispute between Peter and Margaret Rogan that had the police called at three in the morning. Rumor has it Peter was hauled off to the station and Margaret sent to the ER with life threatening injuries. The rumors or more or less true, although Peter insists there was something else another man in the house trying to murder his wife. The State Police are quick to show up Sunday morning and wrestle the situation away from the PPPD.
→ For the church going residents, today is Father James O'Shea's first service as St. Dismas's new priest.
Monday, September 4: Weather: Sunny with clear skies; 67°/52°
EVENTS
→ Happy Labor Day! The Point Pleasant Labor Day Parade will be making its way down Main St. starting at 10am. Line up along the parade route begins at 9am. Festivities will follow the parade at Pomeroy Park through 3:30pm!
→ The Back Porch Pub on the pier is having special Happy Hour pricing all day on drafts and appetizers.
→ There is no school today for the students of Point Pleasant. Try to stay out of trouble, kids, won't you?
Tuesday, September 5: Weather: Mostly Sunny; 72°/60°
EVENTS
→ Loomis Gifts & Antiques officially opens on Main St. with very little fanfare or advertising of any kind. In fact, wasn't that shopfront vacant and dirty with a For Rent sign on it only yesterday? How strange!
→ Other than that, it's a fairly quiet day in Point Pleasant. However, close to midnight, residents of Seaview Village will hear the unmistakable sound of a train passing through the woods that line the mobile home park behind their homes. Some of them have lived there long enough to recognize the sound as the B&M railway that would often pass through Point Pleasant through the Cooperdale Tunnel. The only problem is that the B&M railway hasn't been used in 14 years.
Does anyone dare to try and hike through the woods in the middle of the night? Maybe it would be smarter to call the police. But anyone who manages to find the tunnel this late will find the tracks still overgrown with weeds and untouched. No one is going to be able to spot the body - or whats left of it - until morning...unless they happen to step in some of it.
Wednesday, September 6: Weather: Mostly Cloudy; 64°/58°
EVENTS
→ Two older headstones in the cemetery are found desecrated this morning with foul language spray painted in red. One of the graves is partially dug up, as if a dog were digging for a bone. The likeliest explanation would be young vandals, but there is no way to tell for sure.
→ In lighter news, come out and support your Chamberlain Lady Wolves Volleyball team as they take on the Bangor Rams in the Chamberlain High School gymnasium at 7:00pm!
→ Oh, right, and tonight is also the full moon.
