Who: Aaron, Mila, et al The Wedding (open to minis)
When: Afternoon, Saturday, July 21
Where: The beach/marina
By the time it came to leave for the ceremony, most of Mila’s nerves had calmed down. Roxy was by her side, and all Mila wanted to do was see Aaron. Her dress fit fine, her hair and makeup were finished, and she was clutching her bouquet in her hands. The baby must have felt Mila’s anticipation because it wouldn’t stop kicking. She felt more relaxed, knowing everything was ready to go. If there had been any significant problems, no one had told her. She was selfishly grateful for that.
It was a beautiful day, which was a good sign, and as Mila walked with Roxy and her dad to where the wedding was being held, she sent up a prayer to whichever god may exist, asking him or her or it to let her get through this moment without panicking. No doubts, no fear. This was real. The baby inside of her was real. Aaron would be waiting for her at the end of the aisle. He was alive and loved her.
Before Mila knew it, Roxy was walking down the aisle and Mila was clutching her dad’s arm and focused solely on Aaron. She knew people were in the seats on either side of her, and they were all looking at her, but Mila didn’t care. As long as she kept her eyes on Aaron, everything would be fine. Great, even.
Mila smiled at Aaron as she and her dad began to walk toward him. It was then she realized that all of her dreams and fantasies through the years were actually coming true.
Aaron had enjoyed a nice morning, hanging out with his brothers. It had mostly been him and Gavin, but Caden had stopped by too, and then Adrian had come over like he said he would. It might have been awkward and weird at another time, all of them together, but they were all there for Aaron and that seemed to make a difference. He didn’t think he’d ever had so many people show up for him in his life, to help out and support him. It had been making him emotional on and off all day.
Finally he was in place, tucked and buttoned into his suit, waiting nervously for his bride to arrive. He wasn’t nervous that she wouldn’t show up or that something would go really wrong, he was just ... nervous. Everybody was looking at him too, and while Aaron could be the life of a party, he wasn’t used to this level of attention. Not many people were, when they got married. The breeze from the ocean was ruffling everyone’s hair and the officiant murmured something to him that Aaron didn’t quite catch.
He completely forgot about it a second later, because Mila was there. Aaron’s heart skipped a beat or five, and he couldn’t stop staring as she got into position with her dad, she looked so fucking beautiful. Aaron could barely even register anyone else. His throat already felt thick with emotion, and his eyes burned even as he couldn’t stop smiling while she walked down the aisle. Aaron reached to accept her hand from her dad before they were even close enough, immediately squeezing Mila’s once he could.
Aaron looked as happy as Mila felt and she felt the remaining nerves fall away as soon as her hand slipped into his. She barely heard the priest speak as her father "gave" her away and stepped back to sit with her mother. All she could focus on was Aaron and how handsome he looked and how, in a few moments, she would be his wife. And their baby was even here to take part, which was probably sinful to some people, but she honestly didn't even care. It was a whirlwind of magic, if you were to ask her. The weather was gorgeous with a calming breeze coming off the water. Nobody objected and for once in a very long time, Mila didn't feel herself questioning anything. Somehow they got through their vows and Mila's hands felt steady as she handed her bouquet to Roxy in order to take Aaron's hand and slip the ring on his finger. It felt like they had been planning this moment for so long and now it was here and going by so fast, because before she could really even process it, the priest was announcing them as married.
With a smile that very nearly hurt her cheeks, Mila stepped in to cup Aaron's face and kiss him, only vaguely aware that they had an audience. Somehow she and Aaron had been through hell and back and they had survived it together. There was honestly no one else who could have helped and supported her like Aaron had. Now she got to spend the rest of her life making him happy. "I love you," she murmured against his mouth, knowing he would be the only one able to hear over the clapping of their guests.
Aaron’s heart wanted to beat its way out of his chest and fly wildly around the harbor in pure joy and excitement. He remembered what to say more from the rehearsal run-throughs they’d done than actually listening to the priest. He just couldn’t focus on anything but Mila and how she was glowing and looked so happy to become his wife. It was surreal and golden and emotional all at once, and Aaron grunted a blubbery little sound when Mila slid the ring onto his finger. He put her ring on next and repeated the words, and then it was done and they were kissing. Aaron squeezed her as tight as he dared with her rounded tummy, kissing her between wide grins that he couldn’t control. “I love you too,” he murmured back, his hands pressing into her lower back gently. He kissed her for another few seconds, then turned with her to face their audience to be announced as Mister and Missus Lucas. Aaron felt like he floated back up the aisle more than walked it, on cloud nine the entire way.
It was so crazy to think about how a year ago they hadn't even been together. Now they were married and in a couple of months, they would be parents. Some would probably say they moved too fast, but Mila and Aaron had gone through so much together, and she knew, and had known for a long time, that Aaron was the One for her. She was beaming as they walked back down the aisle together, her hand gripping his tight. They were on a schedule now. Pictures and then the reception and everything that came with it. But Mila wished she could just be alone with Aaron now. Ride off somewhere together and start their honeymoon. But a wedding was for their friends and family to celebrate with them so Mila was willing to be patient. As they were led away from their guests to give people time to disperse and head for the reception site, Mila brought Aaron's hand up to her lips to kiss his fingers. "Childhood fantasy come true," she told him with a smile, leaning over to kiss him again. "You look so handsome."
Who knew how many people clapping for them walking down the aisle believed they would last? Their relationship had unfolded fast from some perspectives, but Aaron had the same secure feeling that it was all right. It wasn’t like they’d just met this past year, after all, they’d known each other to some degree most of their lives. The heart wanted what it wanted, and Aaron’s heart wanted nothing but Mila, in spite of all the hard and scary shit they’d been through together. He wasn’t quite clear on what was happening next, but they seemed to be following their photographer, so it was probably more pictures. Aaron was okay with that, he would’ve been okay with anything as long as he got to keep holding Mila’s hand. His wife’s hand! He stopped grinning only long enough to kiss his bride, then let out a huffed laugh. “And you’re the most gorgeous woman in the world,” he replied. Aaron felt the urge in his arms to grab her and pick her up and swing her around, but he had to be more gentle with her these days. “And now we’re ... gettin’ pictures? Of your gorgeousness?” He glanced at the photographer’s back.
Mila liked to think they only invited people who had faith in their relationship, but she knew how judgmental people could be. It didn't really matter though, because she and Aaron had faith in their relationship and that was the most important thing. "Pictures," Mila confirmed with a smile. "Family pictures and stuff. It shouldn't take too long since we're staying here on the beach. And everyone else will get to go to the reception and start drinking." They had gone over the day a few times but she knew all the minute details probably escaped Aaron's attention. Mila didn't mind it. Once they got past the photos, someone else would be telling them what to do and when, so she could relax. "The day is going to be over before we know it... kind of crazy to spend so long planning something that only lasts a few hours." Of course, it was worth it, because it was their wedding but today already felt like a bit of a whirlwind.
Aaron felt like he could use a few drinks himself, but more in a celebration way than a stressed way. The wedding was over now, he could let go of that stress, now it was time to party. After pictures, of course. Aaron glanced back over his shoulder toward the wedding guests, thinking he ought to try to grab his family first, since they would likely be more impatient through pictures. He did want some good ones of all his siblings together, when was the next time they would all be dressed up together? Probably a funeral. Or maybe Gavin’s wedding, if they had one. “Yeah,” Aaron agreed as he looked at Mila again. “So much time and money on one event ... it’s worth it, though.” At least he thought so at the moment. She looked so beautiful and happy, Aaron felt over the moon ... maybe it wasn’t a wasteful ritual, just an important one that was worth investing in. He brought Mila’s hand up to kiss the back of it and smiled at her some more. “It’s been a fantastic day. Are you happy?”
While Mila wouldn't give up her pregnancy for anything, she was a little envious that everyone would be able to drink but her. She just hoped Aaron would limit himself a bit so they could have a fun evening after leaving the reception. She smiled at him as he kissed her hand. He definitely didn't need to know how she nearly panicked over her belly and the fit of her dress. Thank god for Roxy's calm presence. "I'm deliriously happy," she assured him. "It was like waking up on Christmas morning. What about you? Were you nervous or anything?" She couldn't see Aaron having cold feet or anything like that, and hopefully his brothers didn't try to change his mind. She wouldn't have put it past them to do so.
Besides messing around with his hair a bit, Aaron hadn’t had to worry much about how he looked, he didn’t need makeup, and the suit had already been fitted and waiting for him. So he’d just enjoyed his morning with his brothers -- including his brand new one! -- and leisurely gotten ready. No one had tried to talk him out of anything, and he probably would’ve thrown a punch or two if they’d tried. In his head, Mila had had the same relaxed, happy morning. She certainly looked happy at the moment, and that made him even happier. “Pfft, nah,” Aaron answered with joyful bravado, then snickered. “I mean, yeah a little, I guess. About like, being up in front of everybody, fucking up my vows. I was mostly just excited to see you.” He squeezed her hand tight, still grinning brightly at her. “You look so fucking stunning, like I can’t even take my eyes off you.”
Mila was used to compliments from Aaron, but her cheeks still warmed with pleasure. She would never get tired of being called beautiful, in any form, by him. "I was excited to see you too. I know some women probably like getting ready and taking pictures and stuff, but I just wanted to be with you." She wanted to kiss him again, but they were being ushered along for pictures, immediate family, and Roxy of course, trudging along behind them. So instead she slipped her hand into Aaron's and gave it a squeeze. As much as she was enjoying herself already, she was still looking forward to being alone with him too. Hopefully the rest of the day would go as smoothly as the ceremony had.
