Re: Jasper & Jules (& Gavin)
He wasn’t even sure if he wanted her to say yes, but it didn’t feel right to just send her home when he was the one who’d brought her in the first place. Asking anybody else to give her a ride would invite more questions than Jasper wanted to answer. He didn’t want to talk to anyone, period. Not to say goodbye, not to congratulate Aaron and Mila, not to even tell anyone he was leaving. If they missed him, they could text him or whatever. Once he dropped Jules off, he would have the house to himself for a while too, and that was appealing. “Yeah, we can go now,” he answered. After a quick glance around to get his bearings, Jasper started down the hall in a direction that avoided the ballroom. He lightly touched Jules’s lower back to lead her, out of pure habit, but didn’t keep his hand there once he caught himself. She probably didn’t want him to touch her right now, and he couldn’t blame her.
Jules was acutely aware of Jasper's hand on her back. The touch was comforting, maybe reassuring in some way, but then he removed it and Jules was drained by the emptiness that it brought. She followed Jasper outside and to his car, too tired to even try to think of something to say now. Jules doubted her words would help anyway. When did they ever? The last thing Jules wanted to do was frustrate him further. Once she was in his car, Jules exhaled and felt the urge to reach out to Carson, to ask him for advice. Or just to be reassured that she wasn't a completely awful person.
