Elodie & Jasper
Elodie decided she loved weddings. She had never been to one before, but Jasper’s uncle’s wedding was fun as fuck. Watching people get wasted in nice clothes and dance and act like idiots was the kind of entertainment she hadn’t known she needed. Elodie hadn’t really dressed up, though she had one of her black skirts, black tights, and a Pantera t-shirt, which was as fancy as she tended to get. She got some looks, but no one really seemed to care. Most of them had no idea who she was anyway. The upside was that it was really easy to get alcohol, with how many people just left their drinks lying around.
At one point during the reception, she saw Jasper walking outside, probably to smoke. She followed, and as soon as she stepped up beside him, she plucked the drink out of his hand to sniff and taste, just in case he managed to get someone to get him a real drink. He had come with Jules, who was inside chatting with Jasper’s dad, so now was as good a time as any to say hi.
“You think Jules is gonna catch the bouquet?” Elodie said after offering Jasper his cup back. “Do they still do that at weddings?”
Jasper had only been to one other wedding that he knew of, and that had been when he was a kid, when it was all boring and stupid and he wanted to go home the entire time. It had been some cousin he could barely remember, but this event seemed different. For one, he was grown up now. For two, it was his favorite uncle getting married to a woman who had tried to kill him -- something that hadn’t made it into either of their vows, he’d been amused to see. Not that Jasper could judge, he’d been forced into being a monster too at one point, so he didn’t have room to talk. They seemed to have worked it out and Aaron seemed happy, so he guessed that was all that mattered.
It was a little weird being there with so many of his worlds overlapping -- there was a lot of family there, he’d come with Jules on his arm, Logan had been working the reception room like a professional flirt, Elodie had shown up looking like a Hot Topic clearance rack, Ruby was there ... hell, even Sage had turned up. With a boyfriend or something? That one had been a surprise, and Jasper had tried his best not to feel weird about so many of his tangled webs in one room. Besides that, so many older family members kept slyly asking him if he was next and making eyes at Jules. Jasper had started passing that heat off on his dad. Gavin and Charlie had to be next.
Elodie startled him a little bit when she appeared at his side to steal his cup. There was alcohol in it, added from a flask in his jacket pocket, but he’d brought a joint too, and he pulled that out first instead of his cigarettes. “Fuck if I know, this is only like my second wedding ever,” he answered as he tucked it between his lips to light. Jasper took the first hit and then offered it to her. “You gonna try to jump in the mix and catch it?”
Elodie eyed the joint with anticipation and she grinned briefly as she took it from his offered fingers. It was exactly what she needed and she brought it quickly to her lips as Jasper’s question settled in. For a brief moment, her brows furrowed thoughtfully. Then the mental image of catching a bouquet of dying flowers amongst a crowd of drunk, fancy ladies filled her brain and a look of sudden excitement passed over her face. She grinned, smoke slipped past her lips. “Am I allowed to? That’d be fucking fun. Or I can push Jules out of the way so she doesn’t catch it.” That sounded even more fun and Elodie laughed at herself, shaking her head before finally offering the joint back to Jasper. “This is my first wedding ever. Or first reception. I didn’t actually go to the wedding part. You look nice though, all dressed up and shit. It’s weird.” It was nice and weird all at once. But that was probably just the alcohol she’s been drinking tonight swirling around in her head. She continued on without much thought. “I think I’d rather you look like yourself and your dad look like your dad. Those ties make me want to grab them and strangle you with them.”
