"Be wild, at least," Adrian replied with a grin, pleased to hear the approval in Kane's voice. He would have left eventually either way but he didn't want to wake up with his chest exploding with regret and worries. He probably would anyway but he still wanted to mitigate some of that potential damage if he could. Leaving Kane content and sleepy was better than leaving him crying and upset, Adrian didn't need to feel his empathy to know that. "Want me to bring you a trophy?" he asked, tilting his head into the touch. He wasn't going to drag some dead animal's head to Kane's apartment but the idea of it was still funny to him, like a proud kitty bringing home its kill. Only he was far more dangerous, and he wouldn't be bringing little birds.
Kane didn’t expect him to stay -- hell, he hadn’t even expected him to come inside. And Adrian wasn’t in the frame of mind right now for Kane to ask him to hang around and keep him company until he was asleep. Nor did his dented pride want to even suggest such a thing tonight. He still had emotional wounds to lick in private, but he wasn’t feeling as volatile anymore, so that was a good sign. He definitely planned to wake up in the morning ... or afternoon, since it was late as hell. “Mm, I expect a twelve-point buck’s head in my bed by the time I wake up,” he murmured, scritching in Adrian’s hair a little, his mind running along the same ‘proud predator’ lines. Kane chuckled softly. “That’s a joke, by the way. Just to cover my ass and protect my sheets.” He hooked his hand at the back of Adrian’s neck and leaned over to kiss him softly.
"Good thing you clarified," Adrian tittered before their lips met and he could easily imagine dragging a big ass buck home for Kane to skin and cook and make something with the bones... It'd be messy as hell and he wasn't crazy enough to actually do it, human enough these days thanks to the magic running through him to actually think logically and not just act on impulses like these. Because the impulse was there, the urge to bring Kane something, to show off and make him happy. Of course he wouldn't leave just a head in Kane's bed, that was all a little too mobster and he wasn't looking to threaten Kane. Right now he was thinking he might go back to the woods to try to learn a little more about the creature that had attacked Kane, but he wasn't about to bring that up to his traumatized human boyfriend. Instead he kissed him gently, cupping the back of his neck and tasting that residue of adrenaline on him. "I'll come check on you in the morning," he murmured. "Might as well give me that key now."
They’d given Kane two keys to the front door when he’d moved in, and he’d just tossed the extra one into a kitchen drawer. After he’d told Adrian he wanted him to have a key, Kane had found it again and added it to his key ring, just for a moment like this. He leaned forward enough to snag his keys from the coffee table where he’d tossed them and started untwisting the spare. Kane tapped it against his lips before he held it out for Adrian to take, a tiny smile on his face. He’d never given anyone a spare key to his place before, and it felt both like a comfort and a huge step of trust. “Don’t come in to like, spy on me in the shower or rearrange all my cabinets or somethin’,” he drawled, trying to sound more casual than it felt. “I’m a jumpy war vet with a lot of guns. And if you’re lookin’ at me in the shower, I expect you to join me.”
