Re: Ruby and Logan
Logan nodded. "Yeah, totally. On a slow night I still make more than I would at like, two or three nights working at Dinos or Moxie's. And it'd be cool to work together. I think two of the waitstaff are going back to college in the next couple of weeks, so I'm betting they'll be looking for replacements." Look at him, being all helpful and stuff. Logan couldn't really do much, or help his friends out as much as he wished he could, so if there was a chance to get Roxy into a better position making more money, he'd do it. Flashing Ruby a grin, Logan added, "Shoot me a text in the morning to remind me. Knowing my brain, I'll probably wake up with no recollection of the entire night."
There was a pang in her chest at the reminder that some people were leaving for college in a few weeks while she remained there, but Ruby did her best to ignore it. She wasn’t sure why she ever thought she’d be getting out of Point Pleasant—even if she had the money, she couldn’t leave her dad completely alone. Life there didn’t have to be bad though, she just had to work at making a place for herself. “Don’t worry, I won’t forget,” she said. “If it’s not first thing in the morning, it’ll be as soon as I clock in for another shitty shift of bad tips.” She didn’t really expect Logan to remember, but she could make it a priority.
"Good." Logan grinned. "Girls rarely forget anything... that's a compliment," he added, just in case she thought differently. He turned down her street, wishing Jasper hadn't taken off with Jules. Smoking a bowl was always more fun with another person. "You've got my number, right?" They were friends in the way that he was friends with most people Jasper was friends with - a small number to be sure - but that didn't mean he and Ruby were text buddies, so he wanted to make sure she could contact him before she got out of the car.
There were times when Ruby could see such a statement used as a negative, but at the moment she knew what he meant so she grinned along with him. “I figured as much,” she smiled as she dug her phone out of her purse. “Umm… I think so,” she said, taking a minute to scroll through her contacts. She’d known Logan for years, but mostly through Jasper, so it wouldn’t be a shock not to have his number, but there it was. She rattled it off, just to make sure what she had was legit and looked to him for confirmation. “Is that it?”
"That's it," Logan said, shooting her a grin. "I'm surprised you've never used it before. But you've got it, so... use it." He couldn't sleep with Ruby but that didn't mean he couldn't flirt. Pulling up to her curb, Logan peered up toward the house. Some lights were on, so that was good news. It felt wrong, somehow, to leave girls alone in a dark house in this town. It also helped erase any temptation he had to invite himself in. "Talk to you soon?"
“Yeah, sure,” Ruby grinned because Logan was hot and why not? Flirting with him wouldn’t hurt, but she couldn’t see it ever going anywhere, not now that he and Jasper were… whatever the fuck they were. Which was truly a shame, especially since she was single and he was hot. They were hot, and she was just drunk enough that she could entertain that thought. It sent a rush of warmth right to her core and for a second she considered inviting Logan in to help her take care of it. But really, if he was interested, she couldn’t imagine him being such a gentleman and that wasn’t really what she wanted, not after Clint. Taking a fortifying breath, Ruby opened the car door. “I’ll text you,” she smiled as she climbed out. “Thanks for the ride.”
