Ruby and Logan
As the evening wore on, Logan realized that Jasper and Jules had left, which left him to socialize alone. Which he didn’t mind. He knew some of the people still left on the beach, and there was still plenty to drink. After a while, he spotted Ruby near the fire and he decided to wander over and say hi. He had no idea what had happened to Clint once Elodie found him, but both of them were gone too so he had to assume nothing good. Maybe that would make Ruby feel better. Logan had no idea - if he had been cheated on, he’d never known, and he didn’t consider what he did cheating because he never promised anyone anything. But he had to imagine it sucked to the people it did happen to, who cared about the person.
“Need a refill?” Logan asked, once he sidled up to Ruby’s side. It was chillier at night so the bonfire felt pretty good this close.
After talking to Clint, Ruby had set out to have a good time. She didn’t want to think about the dark man, or the nightmares, or about boys that broke her heart. She wanted to drink, laugh, flirt, and have fun. It was easier done after undergoing Shayna Mae’s spell. She’d slept well every night since and could almost say that things were normal, or at least as normal as things could be. Every day felt a little bit better, and even if she wasn’t leaving Point Pleasant at the end of the summer, she was determined to put the past behind her. Several drinks in, it was even easier to find that happy, fuzzy space and one more drink could only make it better. “Fill ‘er up,” Ruby smiled, offering her cup as she gave him a little nudge. “Having fun?”
Logan took her cup to get her a refill, but flashed her a grin in the process. "Yeah, I guess. Probably gonna head out soon though. What about you? You look happier than you did earlier tonight." It was probably the alcohol, which usually helped his moods too. It was difficult to be miserable at a party though, at least for him. Beer and weed and hot people all around? At least Point Pleasant had some upsides to it.
“That’s ‘cause I’m a happy drunk,” Ruby snickered, and though she wasn’t actually drunk, she was buzzed enough that it counted. “It’s been a hard week. Couple of weeks. Month? Shit, I needed this. We should do this more often.” She didn’t want to think about the fact that over half these people would be gone in a few weeks and she’d be left partying with the incoming seniors. That was just sad. Except that’s what Logan was doing, wasn’t he? And he seemed to be having fun, so maybe it wouldn’t be that bad. Or maybe they could have their own little party, just the few of them that stuck around.
Happy drunks were Logan's favorite kind of drunks. If his dad was a happy drunk they'd probably still have some semblance of a relationship. "You can do this anytime you want," he pointed out before glancing around and handing Ruby her newly filled cup. "I mean, there might not be this many people here, but small groups can be fun too, I guess. Who'd you come with?" He knew she hadn't tagged along with Jasper and Jules and she sure as shit hadn't come here with her ex. Logan didn't know Ruby all that well beyond their mutual friendship with Jasper but hey, now was as good a time as any, right?
