Logan and Bash
After Jasper wandered off to be with Jules again, Logan talked to a few more people before he caught sight of Bash grabbing a drink. He decided to wander over to say hi. After all, they’d been make-out buddies, but Logan didn’t think he had talked to the guy since Jules’s graduation party, which was a shame. This town was small as hell and Logan had always liked hanging out with him. Coming up beside him, Logan nudged Bash with his elbow before reaching for a bottle to refill his own cup.
“Haven’t seen you around lately,” Logan said in lieu of hello. “Where’ve you been?”
Though there were still a few weeks to go, Bash felt like the last days of summer were rushing by. In a month’s time, he’d be leaving for college and who knew when he’d see everyone again. He wanted to soak it all in and make the best of every single moment. It didn’t feel like there were enough hours in the day. He bounced around at events like this, taking some time with everyone, but always going back to Theo. He glanced back at him as he went to refill his cup, smiling when he ran into Logan in the process. “Hey,” he grinned. “Just around, I guess. Moved in with Theo for the summer. What about you? Anything new?”
Theo. Logan almost forgot about that guy. "Moved in with?" Logan's eyes widened, an amused grin forming on his lips. He supposed he shouldn't be so surprised. He honestly could not remember how long Bash had been seeing Theo, or if they had even talked about it the last time they spoke. "Goddamn, dude. Hey, it's gotta be better than living at home, yeah?" He loved his mom but he knew he'd have a much better time living with Jasper. At least then he'd somewhat feel like an adult. The rent and bills would suck, but sacrifices had to be made, didn't they? "Nothin' new with me. Same old shit. Where're you living with Theo?"
“You say that like it’s a bigger deal than it is,” Bash said with a little laugh. If he wasn’t planning to leave for college in a few weeks, maybe it would be, but he wasn’t sure that Theo would’ve offered if that wasn’t the case. While Bash wasn’t ready to let Theo go, he really wasn’t sure how long a long distance relationship could last. He was willing to try though, and as long as they both wanted it, they might as well go for it. “We’re living on his boat. Well, his mother’s boat, but you know what I mean. It’s nice. Small, but it’s fun, and I like being out on the water.” His magic felt stronger out there, even when he wasn’t using it, like it was at his fingertips, waiting for the moment he needed it.
"Moving in with a boyfriend is a big deal," Logan pointed out with a smirk as he took another drink from his cup. "But it sounds nice. Think me and Jasper are going to get an apartment soon. Not as nice as a houseboat, but it's a start." Of course, Jasper wasn't his boyfriend, so it wasn't a Big Step like it seemed to be with Bash and Theo, no matter how much Bash tried to downplay it. "And you're out of here soon, aren't you? College and stuff. You decided where you're going?" Again, Bash might have told him before but Logan couldn't remember shit from Jules's birthday party.
“Is it?” Bash asked, raising a brow. Had the situation been different, Bash would have probably seen moving in with each other as the big deal it was. It was the next big step in long term relationships, one taken when both parties expected to be together for the foreseeable future. But that was the opposite of what he and Theo were looking at. In a month he’d be gone, they’d never really defined their relationship, and the only time he’d told Theo how he really felt, he’d yelled it at him like a curse. “Unless you’re planning to share a shoebox, I’m sure it’ll be bigger than the houseboat,” he said with a little laugh. “But yeah, I’ve got New Student Orientation on Thursday, then about a month before I’m off to University of Maine. It’s close enough I could probably pop home whenever I want, but I’ve been told I need to at least attempt to integrate myself into campus life.”
