Who: Addie and Nick When: night, Wednesday, July 4 Where: Rayner Funeral Home Status: Complete Warning: Turns NSFW
The fireworks show had been pretty impressive for a town this size -- but it was still the height of tourist season. These sleepy little towns that survived on outside tourist dollars really had to put the effort in for holidays, in his experience. So all of it had been pretty damn fun, from the parade to the light show over the water, and being there with Addie had just made it all ten times more enjoyable. It was like a superpower that she wasn’t even aware of.
It was going to be hard to leave her for several days, even though they went that long without seeing each other sometimes. She had to work and Nick had to write to keep his publishers happy, but it was still nice to know they were in the same town and he could pop in to see her was beyond nice. He had no idea how long he was going to have to spend in Atlanta at HQ for his debriefing, but Nick sincerely hoped it wouldn’t take more than a day or two. He hadn’t told Addie about the trip yet, and it had taken him a while to come up with a plausible lie ... he had another sincere hope that this would be the last big one he would have to tell. He wanted to come home free and clear of the Foundation, ready to propose.
Once the fireworks were over, Nick drove them through the annoying inevitable traffic jam around the marina, and headed for the funeral home. It was usually easier for them to stay the night at Addie’s together, since she generally had to start work early and he could set his own schedule. The house was big enough that they didn’t bother Silas -- as far as Nick knew, anyway -- and it was nicer than Nick’s apartment. Once they were really on their way, he reached over to take Addie’s hand, bringing it over to kiss the back of it. “Do you have a lot to do tomorrow?” he asked.
Addie always had fun celebrating the Fourth. It was more the spectacle than anything else because who wouldn't be thrilled about the parade and fried food and fireworks after dark? Holidays in Point Pleasant always felt special, because rarely did bad things happen on those days and everyone always seemed so happy. She was happy, especially with Nick. Addie had taken Silas's advice not to mention stuff like babies and marriage again, at least until the one year mark, so that's what she was going to do. Nick was her end game and she knew it... he knew it too. They both knew it! So what was her rush?
That's what Addie told herself anyway. But every time she woke up in the middle of the night and he was in her bed, she just felt like her entire chest was going to burst with how much she loved him. If he'd been anyone else, Addie would have been sure the intensity that she felt for him would have scared him off, but not Nick. He seemed to feel the same way about her. She was a little tipsy tonight - not drunk! - and her cheeks really hurt from smiling for most of the day. Even the mention of work didn't really dampen her happiness as she looked over at him.
"Not a whole lot. Some paperwork and cleaning downstairs, but that's about it. No funerals scheduled. So unless something comes up... I think it should be a pretty easy day. What about you?"
“Not much either,” Nick admitted with a smile. Normal-work-wise, he didn’t currently have any looming deadlines, but he did need to book flights and such. “I do need to make some arrangements ... I’ve got to fly down to Atlanta for a couple of days to meet with my editors.” Nick glanced over at Addie, hoping this was a good time to tell her. He hadn’t left the state since his arrival in Point Pleasant, and this would be the longest they’d been apart since they got together. “Sorry for the short notice, but it’s got to be this week. I plan to be back by Sunday.” He really hoped the Foundation didn’t need to keep him longer than that. It wasn’t like Nick was a full fledged agent with a bunch of secret esoteric knowledge that could bring them down or anything. He would sign whatever they wanted him to sign and then get back home as fast as possible.
While not drunk, Addie had been drinking a bit so it took her a moment to register that Nick said he would be leaving for a few days. Atlanta? That was so far. Panic seized her - what if he didn't come back? Did he have another girlfriend down there? Maybe he was already married with kids and that's why he hadn't wanted to talk about it yet - thankfully all of those horrible thoughts only lasted for a brief moment or two because she knew Nick and trusted him. If he was going to see his editors, he was going to see his editors. "Oh, okay." Addie smiled a bit, not wanting to whine about it. She would miss him but it was only a few days. They'd gone longer without being together, right? "Is everything okay? They're not unhappy with your work or anything, are they?"
“Oh no, nothing like that,” Nick assured her with a chuckle. The second after he said it, he thought that maybe he should’ve rolled with that idea, made her think there was some Serious Conversation that couldn’t be had over the phone, but sometimes his ego got in the way of tactical thinking. Plus, it was hard enough to lie to Addie, he should probably keep it simple. “Everything’s okay, just some contract stuff to discuss and iron out with the lawyers. I’ll be bored the entire time, I’m sure.” Nick glanced over with an easy smile and squeezed Addie’s hand a bit. He intended to come back with a diamond ring for her, full of freedom and love and ready to commit to sharing their lives. Nick hated that he had to dance around the issue this way, but he really wanted to do this right and not accidentally put Addie in any harm’s way. “Gonna miss me?”
Addie had never been to Atlanta before. For a second she thought about asking Silas to take care of things here so she could go with Nick... but he hadn't brought that up as a possibility and Addie didn't want to wedge herself into his trip. Besides, he might want the brief vacation from Point Pleasant. It was okay. They would miss each other and it would just mean their reunion would be that much sweeter when he got back. "Of course I am. A lot," she said with a smile, bringing his hand up to her lips this time to kiss it. "But this might be an opportunity to have some family time with dad and Silas. I’ll see if I can get them to go do karaoke with me. Do you need a ride to the airport or anything?"
It was good to hear that she was already making plans to fill her time. That was one thing Nick truly appreciated about her -- Addie was intensely in love with him, but she was never just sitting around and pining for him. He’d needed an independent woman, and he’d found one. She was perfect in so many ways, and he wished it was the next week already so he could put all of this behind him. He rubbed his thumb against her skin and shook his head a little. “I just planned to drive down there and park in long-term,” he said. “I appreciate it, but no need for you to spend the gas. And yeah, I hope you three do get some good time together, without pesky boyfriend hovering, you know?” Nick flashed her a teasing grin.
Addie wouldn't have minded driving him. She could hug and kiss on him in the airport and then pick him up with a cute sign and everything. But that was pretty cheesy. Maybe she could have a sign for him when he got home. "They like it when you hover," Addie pointed out with a smile, already wanting to cling and hold onto him and keep him from flying away. He was coming back though. He was. "They both like you a lot. I think sometimes if we ever broke up they'd want to keep you and give me the boot." Of course Addie was joking, but it was the easiest way to explain to Nick how much her dad and Silas already cared about him. "Are you going to miss me?"
Nick laughed a bit and made a disagreeable noise to the idea that her family preferred him. He was just grateful that he’d hit it off with Addie’s dad and Silas, the other two most important men in her life. He’d never been this close to any girlfriend’s family before, and seeing as how he wanted to marry her, it was a huge relief. Given the age gap and his track record as a nomadic writer, Nick wouldn’t have blamed them for being suspicious of him. “Of course I will, every minute,” he said sincerely, glancing over at her again. He rubbed at her thumb with his knuckle. “Maybe next time, when I’ve actually got some notice, you can come with me. Not that Atlanta is the most exciting city ... but it’s got its perks.”
Addie knew that her dad and Silas already thought of Nick as family and she honestly couldn't be any happier about it. She loved them all and there was nothing like having Nick around, watching him interact with her dad and help Silas in the kitchen. They weren't living together or anything but Nick was there enough that it felt that way sometimes. "That'd be fun," Addie said, squeezing his hand. "It's been a while since I've been away from home. Might be fun just to take a vacation. I think Silas is definitely staying put now, which is amazing and means I can continue having a life, which is even more amazing." She couldn't even imagine Silas leaving Point Pleasant now and she hoped he never would. Addie looked over at him. "Are you sure they can't just... call you or do one of those video things?"
Nick was pleased that Silas seemed to be staying as well -- besides the work burden he took off of Addie, Nick just really liked him as a person. Feeling like he had a brother of his own was a very pleasant novelty. He squeezed Addie’s hand back and shot her a regretful look. “I wish, but I’m probably gonna have to sign some stuff, they said they need me there.” He felt guilty lying to her, but Nick reminded himself that once this was over, he didn’t have to do that anymore. He could just bury his years with the Foundation in the back of his mind and didn’t have to speak of them again. Kenzie and Chris could go back to being strangers and do their thing, and Nick could just stay the hell out of it all, keep writing, and have a full life with Adalyn. That was all he wanted now. “It’ll go by in a flash, I promise. And hey, maybe I can Facetime you from the hotel and we can get a little dirty,” he suggested, grinning a bit.
Addie's brows lifted, intrigued. "Oh yeah? I've never had Facetime sex before. I bet that would be fun." It would be hard, not being able to touch or kiss Nick properly but she did like trying new things and it would certainly alleviate some of the sad feelings that missing him would invoke. Even when they had gone days without seeing each other, they still kept in touch and Addie always had the comfort of knowing he wasn't too far away. But now Atlanta felt like a completely different continent. "I've never even had phone sex before... or cybersex. Is that still a thing? Have you done that before?"
He had to titter at the phrase ‘cybersex,’ flashing back to all of those late ‘90s, early ‘00s very serious news stories aimed at parents with teenagers first exploring the internet. What a time to be alive. “I’m sure it’s still a thing, there’s gotta still be people out there jerking off in chat rooms or something,” Nick said, amused. “I have actually had phone sex before, yeah. And trust me when I say video calls have revolutionized it, it used to just be two people talking dirty and moaning to each other over the phone. Very risky when your parents were down the hall.” He snickered a bit more as a few fond-but-silly memories came back to him. He couldn’t even remember much about the young women he’d experimented with, just that even phone sex could do the trick if one was horny enough. “No pressure though,” he added, shooting Addie a little smirk.
Addie couldn't help but smile, only because she was imagining a teenage Nick trying to talk dirty to some girl on the phone. She wasn't sure she would have been able to do it, but she could definitely video "chat" with Nick now. She had no modesty when it came to him. Or shyness, apparently. "No pressure," she agreed. "But I definitely at least want to see you while you're gone, even if it's on Facetime. I don't think Atlanta is in a different time zone or anything... and I'm going to try really hard not to whine about you being gone." Addie leaned over to press a kiss to his cheek. "Do you need me to check on your place? I'd water your plants but I don't think you have any."
Just seeing her face while he was out of town was going to be awesome enough, but Nick definitely wasn’t going to protest getting to see everything else too. Their sex life was amazing and very active when they were together, and he was sure they wouldn’t let a little thing like hundreds of miles between them make a difference. Nick smiled at the cheek kiss and lifted his hand to lightly touch the side of her jaw and neck before she got out of reach again. “Nah, it’ll be fine,” he said. “No plants. I’ll only be gone a couple of days, I’m sure my sad empty bachelor pad won’t get into too much trouble with me gone. Thank you though, you’re the sweetest.” He pulled the car into the Rayner drive and slid into his usual spot. Once they were in park, Nick turned and urged Addie close again to give her a real kiss.
Addie smiled against his mouth before fully sinking into the kiss. It was going to be tough to not feel his lips for a few days, but she would be okay. As long as he came back. As everything became warm and tingly inside of her body, Addie pulled back just a bit and kiss the tip of his nose. "Is it still a bachelor pad if you're not technically a bachelor anymore?" They weren't married or anything, but they were in a committed relationship. Addie honestly had no idea how any of that stuff worked and it was possible that it was just a phrase.
Nick gave a groan of regret and smacked himself in the forehead, though he was grinning. “You’re right, it’s not. I was just a bachelor too long, I suppose,” he said with a little laugh. “It still looks like a bachelor pad, that’s for sure. I need you to come in and work some of that magic women do.” He honestly didn’t know how much longer he would be in that apartment anyway. After he proposed to Addie and she said yes -- because Nick was already positive the answer would be yes -- he was fairly sure he would be moving into the Rayner house and not the other way around. They would figure all that out though. Nick pushed his door open and moved to climb out.
Addie grinned as she climbed out of the car. Nick really didn't want her decorating his apartment. It would look very un-Nick and she knew guys liked having their space. Besides, she was still hoping he might move in with her eventually, so why put all that time and effort into a temporary apartment? Addie sometimes thought about bringing up the subject of living together, but she still saw Silas's face in her head and how he had reacted when she told him she talked to Nick about marriage. She didn't want to see him look at her like that again for a while. So, yeah... patience. "So you're good with a lot of greenery, colorful pillows and abstract art?" she teased, walking around the car to slip her hand into his. "Is feng shui still a thing?"
“I’m sure it is, I just dunno a damn thing about it, so you could do whatever you wanted and call it feng shui,” Nick said, squeezing Addie’s hand a bit. The funeral home always looked impeccably nice and somber-yet-welcoming, and he’d always thought her room was decorated well, he would’ve trusted his apartment to her if he planned to stay there long. Like a lot of guys, Nick wasn’t too particular about his home decor. He held the door for her and patted her butt as they headed inside. Maybe it would be super cliche for a paranormal author to live in a funeral home, but Nick was honestly kind of looking forward to it. “Though unfortunately the greenery probably wouldn’t last long under my care.”
"You don't think so?" she asked, glancing around the foyer just to listen for any sign that her dad or Silas might be up and about. "I mean, there are some plants that only need to be watered like... once a week. Maybe. I don't know for sure. I like to plant flowers and stuff out front but I'm pretty bad at it so I hire people to do it. So yeah, we'll cross greenery off the list. Maybe a hot leather sex swing instead." Addie lifted his hand to playfully bite at his knuckles. Since she didn't see any male relatives within hearing distance, she didn't mind teasing Nick that way. "Do you have a place in Atlanta? What does that one look like?"
Nick snickered and wiggled his fingers a bit as she nibbled on him. “Hey, I would not turn down a sex swing,” he said, also glad the men of the house weren’t around. “Though I dunno if we need one ...” He pulled Addie in close by the hand and scooped her up into his arms with a bright grin. She was so petite and light, he had really grown fond of randomly carrying her around. Nick smooched on her cheek and jaw for a second before he started for the stairs. “I used to have a place down there, but when I realized I was staying here for a while, I got out of my lease,” he told her. “I’ve never outright bought a place, by the time I could afford it I was kind of a nomad already.”
He was definitely right. They didn't really need any kind of swing with their height difference, and she loved it. With her arm around his neck and shoulder, Addie took advantage by ducking her own face in to kiss at his skin. "You're not a nomad anymore," she said, grateful that he no longer had a place in Atlanta. One less loose end to tie up while he was gone. Addie nipped at his throat before she nuzzled his jaw. "Does that make you sad? Knowing that you're not bouncing around the country anymore?"
Nick was not the type to turn his nose up at sex toys, so he’d be game to get a swing installed if Addie wanted one. The more fun they could have together, the better, in his opinion. But until then, he thoroughly enjoyed being able to pick her up and swing her around himself. Having a petite soon-to-be-fiancee was fun. The nuzzling made him smile, and Nick hummed a negative sound as he began to mount the steps with her. “It makes me happy to have somewhere I want to stay,” he murmured, giving her a warm look. “That life was fun for many years, but y’know ... I’m an old man now, and I’m ready to put down some roots.” He smooched her temple.
Addie made a noise of disagreement and bit playfully at his throat again. “You’re not an old man. You’re young and sexy and this town is lucky that you want to stay here with it.” She was lucky. Addie had fallen fast and hard for Nick and she knew she wouldn’t have handled it very well if he had ended up deciding to leave for some other story in some other town. It was already killing her that he had to go to Atlanta, even if it was only for a few days. Who was going to carry her up the stairs to her room like she weighed absolutely nothing? Addie sighed contently and held onto him, not even wanting to let go when they made it to her bedroom. Knowing he was leaving made her feel needy and clingy, but hopefully he didn’t mind it. “I’m gonna miss you,” she murmured.
He didn’t consciously try to fish for compliments with Addie, but Nick definitely didn’t mind hearing that he was still young and sexy. He was almost always joking around, but part of him was still a bit concerned that the age gap would become an issue for Addie once the honeymoon shine had worn off of their relationship. Nobody could predict the future, he just hoped they could work through any speedbumps together. Nick nudged the bedroom door closed with his foot and carried Addie to her bed. Soon to be their bed, he hoped. “I’m gonna miss you too,” he murmured back. Nick turned and sat down on the mattress, settling Addie in his lap. He nuzzled a few little kisses to her cheeks and lips. “I’m already eager to come home, you know that, right?” He kind of wanted to assure her that he was definitely coming back, period, but he worried saying that out loud would make her fret that he was protesting too much.
Addie was not worried at all about their age difference. The only thing that ever tripped her up was wondering if Nick would actually want kids, or if he would only want them if Addie did. She was young and she knew guys could have kids until they died or whatever, but that didn't mean he would want them at his age. She figured they would cross that bridge when they came to it. Any sober discussion of their future scared Addie a bit because she didn't want it to put doubts in Nick's mind. Addie hummed happily when he kissed her, her hand sliding through his hair. "I know," she murmured, and she knew what he was saying. It made her feel better, more confident that he would be back. Addie knew Nick loved her, but she had lost so much over the years that it was hard not to be slightly afraid he would lose him too. "I just don't want you to go to Atlanta and find you miss the city and wish you'd stayed. I know you said you're happy here and I believe you. But I know small towns can be boring and... I don't know." She shrugged softly, hoping he understood what she was saying.
Nick thought he understood, and he gave her a gentle sort of smile. “You think I would trade you for some nightlife I’m barely interested in and hours of traffic jams?” he posted, quirking a brow at her before he smiled a bit wider. “I don’t miss it, and I don’t think going back will inspire me to miss it more. I’ve got so many books here to write. This is probably the most fascinating small town in the country, and it contains the most beautiful, perfect woman in the world, why would I want to be anywhere else?” Nick didn’t blame her for worrying, he probably would have too in her shoes, but all he wanted to do in Atlanta was get clear of the Foundation so he could come back to podunk Maine and build a life with her. Nick had pretty well accepted that he would never have kids, but that was before he’d fallen in love like this. He felt so much more open to whatever was coming in his future.
Well, when he put it like that it did sound kind of silly. Who wanted traffic jams? Addie smiled, feeling more reassured now, and pressed a kiss to his lips. There were so many things to tell him, things that may or may not scare him off, but in that moment, Addie felt pretty confident that Nick loved her enough to be able to handle even the darkest secrets her family held. But all of that would wait until he was back. Nipping gently at his lower lip, Addie held him close. "Want to make some fireworks of our own before we call it a night?"
It seemed to make her feel better, and Nick was relieved. He didn’t mind being reassuring, he would try to quiet her anxieties as much as he could, he just didn’t want her to overthink this trip he had to take. The less Addie thought about it, the better. Nick just hoped it would all go quickly and smoothly while he was there, and he wouldn’t have to be gone for long. He was more than okay with the subject change, and a little grin crossed his face. “Hell yeah I do,” he murmured, one hand sliding down the curves of her side to squeeze her hip a bit. “Is that you lighting the fuse?” Nick dipped in to nuzzle his nose a bit against hers.
There was a constant battle warring in Addie's mind and had been ever since she met Nick. She knew he loved her. She was confident in that and their relationship. But she also didn't have the greatest track record when it came to love and she had scared off more guys than she liked to think about. But Nick hadn't run, even when she brought up babies and marriage in a drunken state. He was still there with her and he would go to Atlanta and come back to her. Smiling, Addie pressed another kiss to his lips. "Yup. I wanted to get you naked all night long, but I was trying to be patient. Is it inappropriate to be so horny on our country's birthday?"
Nick knew Addie’s past relationship experiences had made her a little gun shy about him, but in his opinion those had all been weak, immature guys. That was the impression he got every time she said she’d ‘scared’ someone away, at least. He couldn’t imagine running from her, not when she made him so stupidly happy. Their weirdness fit together perfectly, in Nick’s opinion. “Fuck no, have you ever read about what a manwhore Ben Franklin was?” he answered with a laugh. “Horniness is definitely appropriate. Plus it’s the height of summer, and I’m sexy as hell, so who can blame you?” He grinned to show that he was teasing, even though Nick knew she wasn’t going to argue. He laid back with Addie still against his chest, letting her get comfortably arranged before he kissed her again, with more intention this time.
Addie had never read about Ben Franklin being a manwhore, though she thought she remembered hearing that he had a lot of kids. Not that she was thinking about Ben Franklin at the moment, because she was pressed up against Nick and his mouth was on hers and it felt so good. It always felt so good. None of the passion had dulled in the relationship for her and Addie was confident that it never would. She would still get horny for him, even when she was old and gray and falling apart. Kissing Nick deeply, Addie moaned into his mouth, rocking slowly but purposely against his crotch. This was what she wanted every night. Nick in her house. In her room. Her bed. Everywhere really. It was going to be rough without him here for a few days, so she was going to make tonight really count.
Nick felt just as much desire for her as when they’d first met, if not more, now that there were intense feelings involved. It was so easy to slip into that mindlessly aroused place with her, to let his brain shut off and rest while they connected in a more physical way. Nick was going to miss Addie too while he was gone, and while he didn’t really think the Foundation would do something underhanded to make him disappear, the possibility had crossed his mind. Nick didn’t believe he was that important to them, but he knew there could be things he couldn’t see coming. All the more reason to really relish the time they had together now. Nick’s hands passed down Addie’s sides, tracing her curves with relish as her rocking hips stoked the fire inside of him. He softly grunted his appreciation as he squeezed her hips and pushed up against her warm weight, the growing bulge in his jeans hungry for more friction.
There was a lot of truth to the phrase, ignorance is bliss. If Addie had known the real reason why Nick was flying to Atlanta, she might have clung to his legs to keep him from leaving. Then again, she knew he was a smart guy and he was certainly older and wiser than she was, so Addie had no doubt Nick could handle himself in certain situations. When she felt him push against her, Addie smiled briefly against his mouth and then dipped her tongue past his lips to kiss him deeper, wanting to taste every inch of him that she could. As always, she was grateful that her dad and Silas's rooms were far enough away that they wouldn't hear a thing, though Addie was still mindful of her volume when Nick spent the night. After another moment or two of kissing, Addie pushed up to tug her shirt up and off of her body. There was honestly nothing better in the world than the feeling of Nick's hands on her skin and she wanted more of it.
As he gazed up at her taking her top off, Nick marveled again that she could ever think he wouldn’t want to come home to her. If only Adalyn could see herself through his eyes, he was sure that she would fall in love with herself just like he had. How could she not? He pulled a slow breath in through his teeth as his hands roamed up over her bare skin, gazing at her with open appreciation. Nick reached around to Addie’s back to pop the clasp on her bra, then helped guide the straps down her arms. “You are just ... stunning,” he murmured, his eyes roaming over her body. He sat up enough to reach behind his neck and tug his own shirt up and off, impatient to feel her skin to skin. He propped himself up with one hand and dipped in to kiss at her neck and shoulder, trailing his other fingers along the curve of her breast.
Nick's compliments always brought a flush of pleasure to her body, her heart beating faster and her desire for him growing. "I could definitely say the same about you," Addie breathed, her gaze soaking in the sight of his gorgeous torso and chest and her hands quickly roamed over both before gripping his shoulders as her head fell to the side to give his mouth more room to kiss her. It was crazy how badly she still wanted him, despite having shared his bed for a good six months now. One touch or kiss or even a look got Addie excited. Maybe it was because she was truly in love and every piece of her wanted to be with him all the time. Pushing her fingers into his hair, she guided his mouth back to hers, slipping her tongue past his lips and moaning as she rocked into his lap. Addie could feel how badly he wanted her and it was exquisite torture to tease the both of them like this.
Nick had had some lively and exciting flings in his life, but none of them had felt like this. He’d liked women, had fun with them, had good chemistry, but he’d never been so incredibly invested in anyone else. He cared about Addie more than he cared about himself these days, and that was a new thing in Nick’s life. He knew those feelings played a part in how fresh and electric their relationship still felt to both of them. Being in love made everything better. Nick kissed her back with a low groan in his throat, his big hands landing on her slim hips to feel how they moved as she rubbed against his trapped hardon. Nick’s lower half was feeling overheated and restless, and he rolled his own hips, pushing up against that lovely pressure, letting the tension build in his balls. After another moment or two his body started to get impatient, and Nick reached for the front of Addie’s jeans to start undoing them. As soon as he could slip a hand inside, he did, his breath catching as he rubbed against her heat through her underwear.
There was no protest as Nick got his hand inside of her jeans, just a long, low moan of satisfaction as soon as she felt his fingers press against her. And since he was touching her, it felt only fair to get to do the same to him. So Addie brought her hands down to his jeans to start working them open, unable to keep from rocking and pressing into his hand to feel even more friction. Addie wanted to keep kissing him, to make every touch and discarding of clothing fluid without ever having to pull away from his mouth. But she was too eager, too impatient now, and she did have to breathe a bit, so she pulled back to look at what she was doing, smiling a bit triumphantly when she finally got his zipper down. "My turn," she murmured, freeing his cock and wrapping her fingers around him. If they were naked she would have probably already been guiding his cock inside of her, but their clothes made that impossible and it was both frustrating and exhilarating at the same time. She felt like she was in high school again, messing around with a boy in her room, knowing they couldn't exactly go all the way. It was obviously different now, but the feeling was the same at the moment and Addie reveled in it, wanting to drive Nick a little crazy before finally getting him completely naked.
Nick was obviously in favor of Addie teasing him back, and he gave a soft little moan as she took him in hand. It was more direct contact than he was giving to her, even less of a tease, so Nick pulled the crotch of her panties aside to really touch her. His breath caught as he felt how hot and slick she already was -- no matter how many times Nick felt it, with Addie it felt as exciting as the first time. She wasn’t the only one having nostalgic high school feelings. Everything they did together felt so fresh and new, he had to assume that was a side effect of being in love. Her hand was small but warm and she knew just how to stroke him, and Nick’s heart and breath both sped up a bit as that hot pool of arousal in his stomach spread further. If her goal was to drive him crazy, she was well on her way. Wanting to return the favor, Nick rubbed gently at her pussy, his thumb finding her clit just as he slipped one finger into her, then a second. He gave a low groan against her lips, the corners of his mouth quirking up a bit. “You feel so good,” he whispered to her.
Addie's breath stuck in her throat as the pleasure spread deliciously through her. His fingers were incredible and always knew how to stroke and touch and drive her absolutely wild. A low, shaky moan was her response to his words, her body clenching tight around his probing fingers. Gods, how was one man this sexy? How had she gotten this lucky? Her fingers tightened around his cock, stroking slow but firm. Addie was well aware that Nick could get her off just like this, but it still felt so restrictive and she really wanted to explode around his cock, just so he felt exactly what it was that he did to her. "Let me take off your jeans," she moaned, not really wanting him to have to take his hand from her own jeans, but aware it had to happen. Stupid logistics of sex. Why couldn't they just snap their fingers and be naked?
Nick would’ve been happy to make her come with his fingers, and then his tongue, and then his cock, and then anything else she wanted, in any order she wanted it. Addie seemed eager to have him inside her, and Nick found her enthusiasm incredibly hot. “Be my guest,” he murmured with a wicked little grin. He didn’t take his hand out of her pants until he absolutely had to, fingers teasing her for as long as they could. Nick slipped them into his mouth once Addie had to pull back, lifting his hips to help her get his jeans and boxers off. He sprawled a little as he sucked the taste of her off of his fingers, his lust-heavy eyes never leaving Addie. “Yours should go too,” he suggested. “And then you should come sit on me.” He reached down to give his cock a stroke.
It was going to be really hard not to just jump right on top of him and fuck his brains out until she was screaming from the pleasure of it all. But Addie was still mindful, sort of, of where she was. That didn't mean she was patient though. Her pussy was still throbbing with need as she got her jeans and panties discarded, leaving them on the bedroom floor before crawling back up onto the bed and over Nick's body. Straddling him, she leaned over to kiss him first, tasting herself on his lips where he'd sucked her juices off of his fingers. Pressing herself against his cock, Addie rocked her hips in a slow, tantalizing circle, just wanting Nick to feel how wet he always got her. She knew she had a pretty healthy sex drive but she honestly could not get enough of Nick. She wanted him all the time. Did that mean she was obsessed? In love, definitely. Maybe the two were the same in some way.
He felt happily spoiled and a little kingly as he watched his gorgeous woman strip and then climb on top of him. Being in love could feel so fucking indulgent sometimes, but Nick felt zero guilt about it. He felt as worshipful of Addie as she treated him, and the balance was the most important part of it all. Nick’s hands skimmed down her body as she got closer, and he hummed into the kiss as their tongues caressed one another. It quickly turned into a groan as he felt her hot folds against his cock, already slick and swollen. Ready for him. He gripped her small hips, just squeezing and following her motions for a moment, but Nick was feeling plenty of his own impatience. He held her still and shifted his hips until the tip of his cock hit the right spot. Nick broke the kiss to open his eyes and watch her expression as he slid just the head into her, working it in and out a bit just to tease the both of them. The pleasure made him shiver, but god, he wanted to hear her whine before he filled her up.
As soon as she felt his cock slip into her, Addie's head fell back, her lips parted with a shaky breath. He always knew exactly what to do to drive her crazy and Addie had to resist thrusting her hips down to get him fully inside of her. Instead, she moved with him, more than happy to prolong the teasing, at least for a few more moments. With another moan, Addie pressed her forehead to Nick's, squeezing her pussy around the tip of his cock as she worked her hips over his. "Please," she murmured, well aware that she was really the one in control, being on top of him, but she wanted him to know how badly she wanted him right now.
It seemed like everything he did to drive her wild, Addie gave back to him threefold. Nick had never felt so full of crazy desire for anyone else in his life. It was all so intoxicating, an addiction that was actually good for the both of them. He knew he wouldn’t be gone for long, but he was still going to miss this intimacy with her. Nick sucked a long breath in through his teeth, his hands squeezing her hips tighter before he thrust up into Addie’s body all the way, smooth and steady. There was nothing else quite like sinking his cock into her on that first thrust, it always made his brain go white with static for a few seconds at least. “Addie,” he breathed without thinking about it, brushing their mouths together again.
A sharp exhale escaped her lips as soon as he pushed deep, leaving her trembling against him before they were kissing again. She’d had sex with guys who had pretty nice dicks but Nick’s was the only one that seemed to fit her so perfectly. She felt so full and deliciously stretched and he was right, it was the kind of addiction she would cling to her entire life. Maybe she was romanticizing it because she loved him, but wasn’t that what love was? The feeling that only one person could ever make her feel this good? Grinding against him, Addie clutched the blanket beside his head, moaning as impatience threatened to overwhelm her. The urge to fuck him mad was so strong but she wanted this to last. “I’ll miss this while you’re gone,” she murmured against his lips. “I’m going to touch myself every night, wishing you were in bed with me.”
Nick had slept with a lot of women in his life, and a lot of them had been excellent experiences, but no one and nothing had really come close to this. The emotions truly made a difference. Fucking Addie still would have been fun and pleasurable without them, but it was all just on another level now, one that was hard for Nick to describe. Not that it needed describing -- it was just between them and they were on the same page. It was a wonderful feeling. Nick rolled his hips under her, pushing up into that delicious grinding she was so good at, loving how tightly her body gripped his. He ran his hands up and down her back, tracing over her curves, and he let out another soft moan in response to what she said. “I’ll miss it too,” he murmured back, giving her bottom lip a gentle nibble. “Call me, so I can watch. And show you how horny it makes me.” He grinned faintly and gave a sharper push with his hips.
Addie was floating on a cloud of pure bliss right now. Every push of Nick's cock drew a soft moan from her lips. It wasn't even like her body was overly impatient to come, she just wanted to feel him inside of her for as long as she could. Gasping against his mouth, Addie smiled breathlessly, squeezing her pussy around his cock before she finally pushed herself up, her hands sliding down his chest. "Nothing'll ever feel as good as this though," she murmured, starting to ride him with a lazier pace, aware that their bodies will eventually grow too impatient with the teasing, but not caring at the moment. It still blew her away how much she loved him, how badly her body craved his every day. Knowing he was going to be gone for a few days only made her want to enjoy this as much as she could before she was missing it.
He was more than happy with this pace that would help him last longer, give him more time to stare dreamily up at the gorgeous vision above him. Addie’s words drew a helpless little groan at him as his hands slid down to squeeze her slim hips. Every man wanted to hear that, didn’t they? Unless they had some sort of humiliation kink or something, but that wasn’t Nick’s style. He loved knowing that his woman enjoyed his body just as much as he enjoyed hers. His palms slid restlessly over her velvet skin, from thighs up to her breasts and back down again, drinking in the shape of her. “It’s all yours,” he whispered back, moving with her as much as he could from the bottom. “I’m all yours ...”
Of course Addie loved Nick's body as much as she loved him - she worshiped it when she could. He was so tall and gorgeous and there were days where she loved to just stare dreamily at him, especially when he was naked. Most of Addie's other insecurities had vanished in the time she and Nick had been together. She knew she had an uncanny knack to chase men off, but he had never even so much as put one foot out the door, even when she had sort of drunkenly proposed to him. Any lingering worries that he might not want to come back to Maine from Atlanta were long gone and it was impossible not to believe that he was all hers when he was looking up at her like that. Like she was the only person in his world. Pressing her hands to his chest for leverage - and to touch - Addie quickened the pace of her hips, moaning as his cock slid deliciously against just the right spot.
Adalyn hadn’t even come close to scaring him off, the drunk proposal more endearing to him than intimidating. Nick wasn’t sure if he’d just finally met the Right Person, or if he’d matured enough to be ready for a real relationship like this, or if all the other men Addie had dated had actually been little boys at heart. It didn’t really matter though, because she was his now, and he wanted to marry her, just as soon as his life was free enough to do so. Awash in pleasure and love, Nick was momentarily tempted to just take her to Atlanta with him so they could elope down there ... but that was hasty and unfair to her family. Instead he moaned and caressed the length of her arms while she rode him, then cupped her breasts to feel the motion of her body against his palms. She felt so incredibly good and sounded even better, and he just tried to keep up and hold back on that pressure in his balls until Addie got her fill of him.
Addie covered Nick's hands with her own, doing her best to keep her moans quiet, aware that they weren’t the only two people in the house, though it was incredibly difficult. She loved having Nick in her bed, but that was definitely one of the perks of staying at Nick's - they could be as loud as they wanted. Sinking into the intense bliss that was coiling within her, Addie's head fell back against her neck, her eyes closed. Eventually her hands dropped back to his strong thighs, gripping him as she leaned back, changing the angle of his cock just enough to draw sharper cries from her lips. It still amazed her how aroused he got her, how quick her body seemed to just explode when he was inside of her. They had a pretty healthy sex life and had since they started dating, but it still felt like the first time with Nick. Exciting on so many levels, except now it felt even better because there were deeper feelings involved. When Nick was around, she came alive in ways she hadn't thought possible. Gripping Nick's thighs harder, Addie bit into her lower lip to try and muffle her cries as her orgasm began to spiral.
“Yeah, that’s it,” Nick panted to encourage her. Not that she needed it, but sometimes he couldn’t keep his mouth shut when they were being intimate. He wanted Addie to know just how brain-meltingly hot he found her, how engrossed he was in every sexual encounter they had. He greedily watched the way her body arched back, still groping her breasts and tugging lightly at her nipples. Even the way she was trying to stay quieter than he knew she wanted to be was sexy somehow. Nick’s toes curled tight as he fought off his own pleasure, keeping his own moans as quiet as he could while Addie rode him at that delicious angle. He felt her clenching harder around him and his hands fell to her legs to grip her back in a similar fashion without getting in the way. “God, Addie,” he gasped as she began to go off. Nick bucked up underneath her a bit, pleasure shuddering down his own spine as his control slipped. He just couldn’t hold back any longer, it all felt too goddamn good. Nick sat up halfway as his cock throbbed sweetly and pressed his face to her chest to muffle his own noise, his arm locking around Addie to pull her in closer as they came together.
Before she could even comprehend what was happening, Addie released a loud cry, her body trembling violently as she wrapped her arms around Nick to keep him close. There was nothing quite like the feeling of Nick coming inside of her, with the sound of his harsh breathing and the way his muscles strained and tensed against her body. Her hands slid up into his hair where her fingers curled around the dark strands. Addie pulled his head back just enough that she could kiss him, her own breathing still unsteady. "How am I gonna survive without you while you're gone?" she murmured, nuzzling him even as her body continued to throb around his cock.
Climaxing at the same time always felt kind of magical to Nick. It definitely felt mindblowing, with Addie’s body milking every drop out of his cock. He moaned helplessly and shivered under her, squeezing her tight to his body. Nick felt almost dazed with the throbbing pleasure as he kissed Addie back, fingers pressing into the skin over her spine. Fuck, it was always so damn good with her, it was hard to describe, and he was generally good at that, being a writer and all. Addie just rendered his mind useless sometimes, and Nick appreciated it so much. He huffed a soft sound and gave a drunken sort of smile. “If you can’t, I’ll bring you back to life when I get back, just like this,” he whispered to her.
"I'll be here, sprawled out naked and waiting," Addie said, smiling softly as she nuzzled him again before pressing another kiss to his lips. As badly as she wished he didn't have to go, Addie knew that absence made the heart grow fonder, so their reunion would be that much better when he returned. Running her hands through Nick's hair, Addie reveled in the feel of his bare body pressed to hers. She would miss being curled up around him every night. But he was coming back and soon so she didn't have to pout too much. "Want to shower with me before bed?" she asked, still pressing gentle kisses to his face. "Or I can sneak some beers from downstairs and we can just lounge around in bed instead."
Nick lingered in relishing the feel of Addie on his lap, his hands rubbing slowly against her back. He would miss her too, and he was already looking forward to coming back to this place that had become home to him. He just hoped that everything went fast and smooth in Atlanta and he could return as soon as possible. There was still some fear that something would go wrong and he would get held up by the Foundation for some reason ... Nick had never wanted to be unimportant as much in his life. Until he left for the airport, he was going to enjoy every second he had with his lovely woman. “Mmm, how about beers in the shower, then bed?” he suggested with a smile, eyes closed as Addie kissed on him. “Please tell me you’ve had a shower beer before, it’s a divine experience.”
Addie really didn't want to move, not with their bodies pressed together and Nick's hands running over her skin. It was absolute heaven and she had to resist starting to rock her hips again to try and get him going. Maybe in the morning before he had to leave. Smirking softly, Addie lifted a brow, still stroking the strands of his hair between her fingers. "I've had wine in the tub before but never a beer in the shower, so... I am definitely open to trying that out. Then bed." It had been an amazing day and it was already an amazing night. Nick being states away from her was definitely going to drive her crazy. "When are you leaving again? I mean, we'll have time for breakfast and stuff, right?" Was he going tomorrow? The next day? Her brain was fuzzy with orgasmic afterglow and she couldn't quite remember if he'd told her.
Was wine in the bath the female equivalent of a beer in the shower? They seemed like different vibes to Nick, but he’d never done wine in the bath before. Being as tall as he was, finding a comfortable tub was a challenge. Nick got the feeling Addie was the kind of woman who could enjoy both. She was just fucking cool like that. He gave her a squeeze and patted her ass. “Oh yeah, we’ll have time for breakfast,” he said. “I still gotta book the flights, so it could be tomorrow evening or Friday morning. I just gotta be there by Friday afternoon.” He gently kissed Addie’s nose. “And I’ll try to be back by Sunday. Before you know it.” He couldn’t promise an exact day or time, of course, and he hated that, but Nick was going to try to get through it all as quickly as he could.
It would only be a couple of days. It wasn't like he was going on a book tour or something. Oh god, would he do book tours? Would he be gone for weeks at a time once he finished the book he was working on now? Addie felt the urge to wrap herself around him more tightly, but she also understood it was his job. There were days they didn't see each other much because she was busy with her job. Cadavers and funerals and the like. Everything would be okay. "Okay," she said with a smile, pressing another kiss to his lips. "Beer, shower and bed. I'll get my robe on and sneak downstairs real quick. I don't think dad or Silas are up, but... just stay here, just in case."
“I’ll get the shower warmed up,” Nick offered in agreement, giving her a little grin. Addie having her own bathroom was a luxury they enjoyed often -- things would’ve been much more awkward in the house if they had to dash down the hall every time they got done having sex. Nick felt way too old for that kind of sneaking around. He still wasn’t sure what their future living arrangement would look like, once that proposal happened for real, but he was always comfortable at the Rayner house. Maybe that was weird considering it had a morgue in it, but Nick had never claimed to be normal. Who could, in this town? In this world? It was just about what made you happy, and Addie made him happy, in any setting. Nick kissed her one more time before he let her go so they could start to enjoy the last stretch of their night.
