He didn’t quite feel freaked out, just vaguely guilty and a little sad. Clint hadn’t intended on ending his relationship with Ruby like this, it was shitty of him, but he knew it had to be over now. He wasn’t a good liar, he sucked at keeping secrets like this, so he really needed to just pull the bandaid off, so to speak. When Jules spoke, Clint turned his head to look over at her, a wan smile flickering across his face. “Didn’t think you would, but ... think everybody else will keep their mouths shut?” he asked in a murmur. “We kinda disappeared together.” They’d been hanging out with a group, and while high school was definitely over now, he wasn’t positive word wouldn’t still get around. “I’m gonna break up with her anyway ... but aren’t you two kinda friends?”
Jules hadn't even remembered her friends. Heather had driven her to the carnival and she had left with Clint. She hadn't even checked her phone since they started driving to Clint's house. There was the vague concern that it would get out, that Ruby would find out and she would tell Jasper... but Jules quickly smothered the guilt. They were broken up and he was having sex with Logan, so what did it matter? But Ruby... yeah. Jules sighed. "I don't know if we are. Kind of? It's always been weird with Ruby. I didn't... I mean, I didn't have sex with you to like... hurt her, or anything." She felt like she was starting to ramble so Jules forced herself to shut up and not try to justify anything. "I'm guessing you were going to break up with her before tonight."
Clint nodded a little, unsurprised to hear they had a complicated relationship. Most girls seemed to, in his experience. He’d probably never understand it. “We kind of agreed it would be over at the end of summer, when I leave for school,” he murmured. They’d had plans to do things in between though, and it was kind of a bummer that he’d probably fucked that up. But he could always go to the beach on his own, right? Have a fun senior summer as a single guy. Clint wet his lips. “Maybe ... I mean, I don’t think anybody saw us leaving the tunnel or whatever ... maybe we could say we just wanted to chill somewhere quieter? If anybody asks. It’s not like I haven’t known you most of my life already, you know?”
Plans got fucked up all the time. What was even the point of plans? Make plans and life would be like... nope! Jules chewed on her bottom lip for a moment before she nodded, rolling onto her side to push up on her elbow so she could see Clint a bit better. "If anybody asks, just say we went to Moxie's to grab some food and you drove me home and we watched a movie or whatever. That's easy enough." At least, she thought it was. It was really no one's business but Jules knew that wasn't really how their circle of friends worked. Jules didn't want to get too deep into the potential consequences of this and ruin the night she'd had. Leaning over, she pressed a kiss to his cheek before turning to slip off the bed so she could get dressed.
That sounded good enough to Clint, especially with how fuzzy his mind currently was. He’d drank quite a bit, gotten insanely horny and then gotten laid, so he was drained in the best sort of way. Clint was tempted to stay right where he was on the bed as he watched Jules get up, but he recalled that his parents were home, so he probably needed to escort Jules out of the house, at the very least. “You want a lift home?” he asked as he sat up with a little groan. Jules only lived down the street, but it was dark out and this was Point Pleasant. Clint dragged himself off the bed to find some sweatpants and a t-shirt to pull on.
