Who: Greer and Ty
When: Afternoon, Tuesday June 26
Where: Joyland
Status: Complete
For the last few weeks Greer had been overcome with the urge to reach out to the people she had grown close to while Over There. It had been wonderful reconnecting with her boys and despite the trauma, Greer was happier than ever now that she was home and surrounded by love again. But that hadn’t stopped her thoughts of the others. Instinctively she knew where they all were by now. It was like she could close her eyes, walk out the door and find them if she really wanted to. And now she wanted to. She needed to know that everyone was okay and perhaps find out just why they were different now. Because there was simply no way that place hadn’t affected everyone else the way it had affected her. Changed her.
Today it felt like the right time to start putting the pieces of the puzzle together and Greer set out to see Deputy Solomon. Or rather, it was just… Ty now. She knew he was back in town but heard he was no longer a police officer. Which was honestly a shame, because he had taken good care of everyone at Juniper while they had been trapped there. This town needed more people like him.
It was a lovely day and her skirt was loose and flowy around her calves as she walked down Main Street. She had no idea exactly where Ty was, but she knew he was close. Maybe getting a cup of coffee, or some lunch. Greer kept her eyes open, stopping to peer into some of the shop windows, though in her gut she knew he wouldn’t be shopping.
Finally she caught sight of him walking on the opposite side of the street and Greer stepped off the curb, making sure no cars were coming, before she hurried across and called out to him, pleased to finally find him.
Ty had had the same goal in mind when he’d left the house that day. It was past time he found some of the others to talk to, and he was getting a little weary of other people suggesting it to him like he hadn’t thought of it before. He’d started his new job at the vet’s office, which was going well so far, and he’d had a doctor’s appointment that morning to get a check up and some scans scheduled, so Over There was pretty fresh on his mind. He hadn’t told the doctor everything of course, not wanting to come off as a total nutjob, but he’d gotten the impression the doc kind of knew the situation anyway. He’d agreed that not feeling any physical pain was something worth looking into.
Ty had left the hospital not really looking forward to having to drive to Bangor for all of the scans the doctor had ordered, but glad to get the process going so he could reassure Jared that he didn’t have brain cancer or something. Ty felt more like he knew what was happening with him, and it wasn’t going to show up on any MRI. He didn’t know yet if cancer would be the preferable option, but he had a feeling they would find out.
He headed to Joyland for some coffee to go, and he’d been pondering who he should track down first when someone called his name. Ty looked around and spotted Greer, a smile automatically crossing his face. She’d been on the short list of people he’d wanted to check up on, but the coincidence wasn’t entirely surprising. It didn’t even really feel like a coincidence at all. They were all connected now, after all. “Greer,” he greeted warmly once she was on his side of the street. “Good to see you, I was just thinking about you.”
"Oh yeah?" Greer's smile widened. "Good, because I was thinking about you too. I kinda had the feeling you would be around here." The urge to hug him was very strong, but she held back, not entirely sure she wanted to risk potentially seeing his death. She felt lucky enough that it hadn't happened yet with Dev or Rost... but it was becoming increasingly difficult to hold back touching people, because she had always been an affectionate person, even with strangers. As a soft breeze kicked up, Greer pushed her hair back from her face, studying Ty. "I wanted to check in with you and see how you were doing and... maybe talk a bit about... things."
Ty felt the same impulse to hug her hello, but he didn’t know if that was actually appropriate or welcome, so he didn’t initiate it. Greer looked pleased to see him though, just as pleased as Ty felt. Now that she was standing in front of him, he realized that he’d felt her around even before she’d called his name, he just hadn’t been paying attention to it. He was getting used to feeling the background radiation of the others in his consciousness and tuning it out. He gazed back at her just as intently, a slow smile spreading on his face as she spoke. “Yeah, there’s plenty of things to talk about, isn’t there?” Ty mused. He glanced down at the coffee in his hand and then cocked a brow at Greer. “You wanna have a coffee with me? My treat. I barely got started on this one.”
"That would be great," Greer said, more than happy to sip something sugary and hot while they talked about... well, everything. Of course when she glanced down at his cup, she noticed the wedding ring and that momentarily pushed all the Other Place stuff out of her head. Her eyes widened and she curled her fingers into her palms to try and resist grabbing his hand to get a better look. "You got married!" It was something to celebrate and be thankful for, because for the longest time, she was sure none of them had thought they would ever get back home and see their loved ones.
The exclamation took him by surprise, but delight very quickly followed and Ty let out a little laugh as he glanced down at his own hand. He’d gotten used to feeling his wedding ring there, the metal always warm and reassuring, like having Jared’s arms around him even when they weren’t together. “Yeah, I did,” he confirmed to Greer with a bright grin. “That’s why I was gone for a while, me and Jared went to Texas to get hitched where his family could come, then we road-tripped our way back as a honeymoon.” He’d filled Greer in on his life during some of those long torturous hours Over There. Talking about Jared had never been easy, but the bittersweet love that it had always made him feel had been one of the best sensations he’d gotten in that place, so he’d been grateful to Greer for even asking. “C’mon, let’s grab a table and I’ll show you pictures too,” he said, turning back toward Joyland.
Greer clasped her hands together happily. "That's so great. I'm so happy for you. I absolutely want to see pictures." She followed Ty back into Joyland, pleased that something good came out of all the misery. She was sure that there were others who were probably struggling, or didn't have people to support them the way she and Ty did. But maybe they could all help each other. Greer had Ty order her a chai tea latte and by the time they sat down together, her cheeks were starting to hurt from all of the smiling. It was just hard to stop! "So before we get into the grittier topics, show me some of those wedding pictures. How is Jared, by the way? Has he gone back to the police department?"
Ty felt extraordinarily lucky that he’d had Jared waiting for him on the other side of all this. Well ... not exactly waiting, since he had given up hope and moved away, but he’d come back straightaway, and that meant everything to Ty. He knew he wouldn’t have been doing as well as he was mentally without his man by his side. Once they’d settled at a table, Ty pulled his phone from his pocket, grinning pretty hard himself. He pulled up the wedding album he had saved in his gallery and offered his phone over to Greer so she could flip through the pictures. “We haven’t gotten the prints back from the photographer yet, but I just had to save my favorites digitally,” he explained, sounding pleased. “Jared’s doing good, he’s still kind of on sabbatical, but he plans to go back to the force pretty soon. He’s stoked to be a husband again, that man was built for marriage.” Ty chuckled affectionately and sipped on his coffee. “How about you? How are your boys?”
Greer took the phone to swipe through the photos, smiling at how happy Ty looked with Jared. Their families looked happy too and that was just as wonderful. She made a mental note to get them both a belated wedding gift as she glanced up at Ty. "Dev and Rost are doing really good. Sometimes I think they're afraid to let me out of their sight though, like I might disappear again. But things feel really wonderful, being home with them again. Oh, this is such a sweet picture." She sighed, looking down at the phone before finally handing it back to Ty. "I'm so happy for you both. It looks like it was really an amazing time and I'm glad you were able to get away from here for a while. Are you doing okay though, being back?"
He hadn’t shown off the wedding pictures to too many people yet, but every time he did Ty found it was really fun to watch other people being happy for them. It helped that Greer had always seemed like a very genuine person, and she looked truly pleased to browse through photos of the two of them in their suits, looking blissful and in love. “Thank you,” he said as he accepted his phone back and set it aside. “Best day of my life, probably. I didn’t think my mother would come, but she flew out to surprise me. I get what you mean though, I know Jared worries about me constantly. I’ve been okay ...” he paused for a moment, his smile fading somewhat. “Still have some nightmares here and there, and sometimes I’m not quite sure all of this is real, you know? There’s been a kind of ... more concerning development, though. Have you noticed anything ... different since we’ve been home? About yourself?” Ty’s tone was a bit cautious, but he got the feeling Greer would know what he meant.
Greer understood the nightmares. She had them too. It was something she wasn't sure would ever really fade away but they were slightly more bearable now than they used to be. When Ty mentioned the "concerning development", Greer felt a rush of relief. It was comforting in a way to know that someone else was having the same experience as she was. "Yes," she said quickly, wrapping her hands around her warm coffee cup. "I noticed it weeks ago. I even spoke with Jasper, if you remember him? I saw him at Moxie's... he said he hadn't noticed anything different about himself, though now I wonder if that's changed. What have you discovered?"
There was that confirmation that Ty hadn’t quite known he needed, and he felt something deep inside of him unclench. There hadn’t been anything else strange going on with him, just the huge painless elephant in the room. If Greer had her own elephant, well ... that meant his probably wasn’t deadly cancer. He nodded a bit that he remembered Jasper -- who had definitely not been on his list of people to check up on; Ty didn’t want to get tangled up in Lucases, those boys were always a mess. Feeling kind of excited now, Ty leaned forward a bit and wet his lips as he glanced around. Nobody was paying attention to them, but it still felt like a secret. “I can’t feel pain anymore,” he told Greer, his voice lower. “We found out on the road back. I slipped on a trail and scraped my leg all up ... didn’t feel a thing. I’ve tried pinching, bumping into shit, I even cut myself a little when Jared wasn’t around, but ... nothing, no pain. Jared’s worried I got a brain tumor or something. Is it the same for you? Or something else?”
Greer's eyes widened as Ty explained what was going on with him. "No pain... I suppose that's a blessing in some sense, but also... dangerous. You could get seriously hurt and not even realize it." Now Greer was a bit grateful that he wasn't a cop anymore. What if he got injured and didn't know it until it was too late? She could understand why Jared would be worried, though instinctively Greer knew it wasn't a tumor and she knew Ty probably felt the same way. "Mine is more... mental, I guess. When I touch someone, sometimes I can see how they die." Her tone was also hushed, but calm. It was a morbid thing to talk about and have to deal with, but Greer didn't think denying it would really help her much. "It hasn't happened with Dev or Rost, and I hope it never does. But I guess I don't have much control over it."
Ty knew it was dangerous, he had a very large man continually fretting about him accidentally getting stabbed or cutting his arm off and not feeling anything or something like that. Ty had already gotten into the habit of doing a thorough check of his body every day before his shower, checking everything he couldn’t easily see using mirrors. He was pretty sure a grievous injury would be obvious to him even without the pain, he could still feel impacts and pressure and blood running down his skin, but if being cautious made everybody around him feel better, he would keep doing it. Ty’s mouth fell open slightly as Greer told him what she could do now, his brow furrowing. “What just ... like random people you shake hands with?” he asked, sounding a bit awed. “What’s it like? A vision in your head or you just ... know?”
"It's not even shaking hands," Greer said, pausing briefly to take another sip of her latte. "I just have to touch them. And I think it's a little bit of both. I see it clearly in my head, but I also... know what it is that kills them. I suppose breathing in that air for so long changed us, but... I don't know why. If there was a purpose or just a side effect from being there. I've been wanting to ask the others... I did talk to Max, but he didn't have anything strange happening to him either. I guess maybe it could have changed by now, but he hasn't told me."
He wasn’t sure there was a ‘why’ to any of this. Nothing they’d encountered on the other side of the portal had seemed intelligent, much less powerful enough to manipulate them the way they’d been manipulated ... but Ty was also aware they knew precious little about any of it. It chilled him to the bone to think it might not actually be over, so he tried not to think about it too much, but the possibility was hard to ignore at the moment. Ty listened to Greer with his brow furrowed, then nodded slowly. “Let’s hope for just a side effect,” he murmured. “That sounds awful though. I’m sorry to hear you’re going through it.” Greer had always struck him as a very caring, empathetic person, being bombarded with that sort of information had to be hard on her psyche. He quirked a brow and gently asked, “That why I didn’t get a hug when I saw you?”
If it was only a side effect, it was a terrible one, for all of them. But Greer would rather it be a side effect than a sign of something more to come. They still didn't know why or how they were returned home and that was uncomfortable as well. She smiled softly when he spoke, not at all surprised that he had noticed she hadn't hugged him. Those who had been around her Over There knew she was a physically affectionate person. Touch was something Greer had always craved, and had needed. Now she had to control herself and it was more difficult than one would have thought. "Not knowing what I would see... I didn't want to risk it," Greer admitted. "There's always the thought that I could help someone, I just don't know that I could live with it if I couldn't."
If he’d had to pick one or the other, Ty definitely would’ve opted for a pain-numb life over what Greer was dealing with. It sounded like the worst sort of superpower, if she couldn’t turn it off. Who wanted to know how and when their loved ones were going to die, much less strangers? Ironically, it made him want to reach for her hand to give her some comfort, but Ty supposed that was off limits now. “Not the same circumstances of course, but I know that feeling,” he said with a wan smile. “As a cop, the hardest part of the job was not being able to help people sometimes. Is it ... is it like once you touch someone and it doesn’t happen, you feel safe that it won’t happen? Or are you just always holding your breath when you touch your boys?”
It helped that Ty could understand where she was coming from. Greer wanted to help people, but this was so much more complicated and potentially dangerous. It went beyond reading palms and tarot cards. "I really don't know how it works," she said with a brief frown. "I do hold my breath when I touch them because I can't live without touching them. The more that it doesn't happen, the better I feel about it, but I know it's not a guarantee. But what about you?" Greer studied him closely. "How do you feel about your lack of pain? I mean, on the surface it sounds like a good deal, but I know it's not that black and white. How did you find out?"
Ty made a pained, sympathetic face. He couldn’t even imagine living under the threat of witnessing Jared’s death every time they touched, it sounded like something that would drive him mad for real. If Greer did see a death and successfully intervened, would it just happen some other way? Would her vision get updated? Or would she throw off the whole life-death cycle of the universe or something? Ty didn’t know how that shit worked, and he doubted anyone else truly did either. He tried not to spiral off into an existential crisis over a problem he didn’t even have and focus on her questions instead. “Uh, I found out on the trail while we were road tripping home,” he reminded her, not bothered she didn’t recall the details. “I was going down this rocky kind of embankment, lost my footing, and got my leg all scraped up. It didn’t hurt at all. That was the first sign. I’ve tested it since then here and there. As for how I feel about it ... right now, I’m glad it’s not cancer.” Ty chuckled faintly. “If it stays this way, I don’t think I’ll ever be in law enforcement again, but I wasn’t sure about that anyway. It’ll be nice to never have a hangover headache, but it’s also kind of scary like ... what if my appendix bursts and I don’t know about it, you know? I hate that it scares Jared so much. So ... mixed emotions.”
Greer brought her hand up to her forehead and huffed. "You told me about the scraped-up leg, I'm sorry. I think it got buried under my worry that you could be seriously injured as a police officer... though I guess that could happen to anyone, no matter what their job. Maybe there's some way for you to... I don't know, be alerted if you get hurt." Her eyes widened briefly as she reached out, nearly grabbing his hand. She realized what she was doing at the last moment and quickly curled her fingers in to rest her hand beside his instead. "Maybe there's someone in town who could help you. There could be magic or something that could maybe warn you if something dangerous is going on." Greer didn't blame Jared for being scared. It would scare Greer too. It sounded like something people would love to have, living a pain-free life, but it was also incredibly dangerous.
The way she stopped herself reaching for him broke Ty’s heart a little, and he had to press his palm against the table harder to keep himself from completing the touch for her. It was hard for him not to just get up and hug her, and they’d only been talking for ten minutes, he thought it must be driving her crazy on the whole. Ty gave her a half-smile at the suggestion, not sure how he felt about magic and the people who could apparently use it yet. “I mean it’s not like I don’t feel anything,” he pointed out. “I feel pressure when I bump into shit, I can feel cuts happening, it’s just ... not painful. It’s very weird. But I know it’s risky, and I appreciate the idea. Maybe it’s something to look into. In the meantime I’m doing full-body checks every day. I’m probably gonna be going to doctors a lot more often for tests, already started that process.” Ty rolled his eyes, even though he knew it was all pretty serious. “But like ... who do you know who can do magic?”
Greer nodded, thankful to hear that Ty was obviously taking this seriously. And she was grateful that Ty had someone like Jared around to take care of him too. It would have been difficult for Greer not to show up on Ty's doorstep every day if he was living alone. "I'm sure Jared loves helping you with those full body checks," Greer teased lightly before taking another sip of her coffee. "As for witches... the O'Reillys out in Blackwater. We went there for help when things were starting to spiral, but... there wasn't much they could do about it. I don't know that anyone could have. Rost may know more, since he's been here longer." Greer eyed Ty with a faint smile. "You believe in magic, don't you?"
The word ‘witches’ was not one that Ty had ever thought he ought to take seriously, outside of some obscure biblical reference back when he’d been a believer. He knew vague things about neo-paganism and Wicca and shit, and he’d honestly chalked up most of the ‘so-and-so is a witch’ rumors around town to that sort of thing. But life had very rudely shown him that he didn’t know shit about the world. It was humbling, and honestly pretty terrifying. Ty knew the O’Reillys mostly as isolationist homesteaders ... he knew one of them had been to jail, but it had been out of the PPPD jurisdiction, so he didn’t know much about why. He gave Greer a sheepish sort of smile back. “I dunno ... bein’ over there kind of blew my brain wide open, so ... I don’t want to say I don’t believe in anything, anymore,” he admitted. “It’s just not anything I’ve got experience with yet.” Ty narrowed one eye and smirked at her a bit. “You already knew anything was possible though, didn’t you?”
Greer laughed softly. "I always knew there was more out there than what we saw or could explain... but it wasn't until I met Dev that I was shown proof of it. Then we came here and the energy was just so different. Meeting actual witches didn't shock me in the least. I mean, we both lived with a real werewolf for months and believe it or not, you've grown up around witches. They're real and I think they do much more good for this town than what some might think. And I think if you talk to the right one, they may be able to help you, if you decide you need it."
The mention of the werewolf reminded Ty of Sadie’s untimely death and his suspicion that Carson had been responsible, but he tried not to let any of that show on his face. His mind had been full of so many other things Over There, it had taken coming home and telling Jared about his experiences for that connection to really be made. Carson was gone now, out of state, so Ty didn’t see any reason to bring it up to Greer. “Well, I’ll take your guidance on who the right ones might be,” he said instead, giving a faint smile. “I feel like I don’t really know half of what’s actually going on in the world now, you know? Maybe I do need magical help.” It was such a bizarre thing to say, but Ty’s life was pretty fucking weird now, so whatever. “Think they could help with your thing too somehow? Magic gloves or something?”
"If you ever feel that you want or need the help, Shayna Mae O'Reilly is who I would recommend going to. She's kind, but there's something about her that feels powerful. She won't take advantage of you." Setting her coffee cup down, Greer sighed softly but kept the smile on her lips. "I think maybe they could help me... Dev wears gloves to keep himself from seeing flashes of people. I just always hated the feeling of wearing them... like they were too restricting. I love to touch, I love to feel things. It's just nature, I guess." Her smile widened. "I would probably walk around naked if I could get away with it. It's hard enough keeping my hands to myself... having to cover them up like the rest of my body... it almost makes me feel claustrophobic. I know that sounds silly."
Ty tried to imagine himself walking up to the O’Reilly property to ask them for magical help, and it was hard to picture. He’d only been out there once or twice in his whole career in Point Pleasant, but he knew who Shayna Mae was, a tiny blonde woman who occasionally turned up in town with some big burly guy in tow. He wasn’t sure he would do that or not, but it was an option to keep in his back pocket, at least. Ty gave Greer a warm smile. “Walking around naked would’ve given us a much different introduction,” he said, amused. “But no, it’s not silly. You’re a tactile person, it’d be like -- like a music-lover going half-deaf, you know? But if it protects you from knowing what you don’t want to know ... might be worth it.” Ty gave a little shrug. It would be her decision. He just wished the best for her, she really was a lovely person. “Is it just if your hands touch? Like could I hug you and you just don’t touch me? Or is it any part of your body?”
Ty's analogy was spot on and Greer nodded in agreement, even though the idea of covering up her hands to avoid potentially bad visions made her feel crampy and empty inside. If she could just find a way to switch it off, but that seemed far too ideal to be a possibility. She arched a brow, her smile deepening a bit as she considered his question. "You know what? I don't know. Every vision I've had has been when using my hands. Do you want to experiment with me?" Maybe he could hug her and nothing would happen. Then again, maybe it would. But it wouldn't hurt to give it a try and see. If she did see his death, Greer could only hope it was when he was old and gray and entwined with Jared and surrounded by whatever family they chose to have.
His brow lifted in return at the question, looking pleased but hesitant. “Only if you want to risk it,” Ty said. “I completely understand if not.” While he definitely did want to give her a good hug, the last thing Ty wanted to do was traumatize her by accident. He had zero predictions about how he might meet his end, now that his reality had been flipped upside down. Who the fuck knew what weird shit was coming? Ty didn’t think he wanted the warning. “Just, if it doesn’t work ... don’t tell me?”
"It's been a while since I've been able to hug anyone who wasn't Dev or Rost," Greer told him before pushing her chair back to stand. "If it doesn't work, I won't tell you." She hoped it would just be a nice hug between friends without any disruptive visions and yes, she was willing to try it out to see if it was her body, or her hands, that triggered them. Or maybe Ty would be like her boys... immune somehow to her visions of death. She really hoped so. Greer opened her arms in invitation, a smile quickly forming on her lips.
Ty had a feeling that if Greer saw his death she wouldn’t be able to hide it, but he was prepared not to ask, if he saw any signs. Considering everything else that had happened to him lately, he definitely didn’t need to be thinking about his own death on top of it all. Still, he wanted to hug his friend and help her figure out how this thing she now had worked, so he pushed his own chair back and stood up. Ty was smiling too as he moved to hug her, tempted to just scoop her up and swing her around, but he wanted to be able to let go quickly if she seemed like she needed him too. So Ty settled for just a warm hug around her shoulders.
It was really difficult not to wrap her arms around Ty and squeeze because she was honestly so happy he was back in town and married and seemed to be doing really well, painlessness aside. It would have been easy to sink into a dark hole after being caught in that place. Greer did rest her head against his chest for a moment, waiting for something to happen. But it didn't come. Instead, she just smelled soap and coffee and Greer smiled as she looked up at him. "Nothing." Whether it was because she wasn't touching him with her hands, or he was just immune to her, she didn't know. But she didn't care either, because it was lovely to have physical contact with someone without the disruption.
It felt a little strange to hug somebody who wasn’t hugging him back, but Ty could get used to it for Greer’s sake. If it helped her, he wanted to do it, for sure. He looked down to meet her gaze and smiled brilliantly back. He’d said he didn’t want to know, but her expression was genuine, so he believed she didn’t see anything. “Excellent,” Ty murmured. He readjusted his arms around Greer to hug her closer and more firmly, his intuition saying that she needed it. He even smooched her forehead, because why not? “Guess that just means I’m immortal,” he added with a little smirk as he snuggled her tight. “I’ll let Jared know.”
Greer laughed. "You must be! That could be a lovely thought, depending on what you think about living forever." She did need the hug and she appreciated it more than she could properly articulate. Dev and Rost were her world and they both supported and loved her, as she did with them. But Greer was also a lover by nature and it was an extremely difficult transition to go from being physically affectionate with everyone she met, to having to keep a physical distance. "Do you plan on talking to any of the others?" she asked after a moment. "I can do that too, if you want the help. I should talk to Max again, and maybe Jasper and the girl he spent time with."
Ty rubbed her back a bit before he let her go. It was good for him to get hugs too -- he hadn’t hugged anyone but his mother and his husband since the wedding, and that had been a while now. He nodded a bit to answer her question, secretly relieved that Greer volunteered to talk to the Lucas kid herself. “I planned on it, yeah. I just wanted to start with you,” he admitted with another little smile. “But I definitely wanted to check in on Sage ... he wasn’t doing well at all over there. Maybe I could handle Brianna and Miriam, I’m used to talking to the Overlook crowd, you know?” Really, he had a lot of experience talking with all sorts in town, but he thought he would probably be more comfortable showing up in that neighborhood than Greer would.
In a way, Greer understood Ty's reasoning. There had been a lot of variety in personalities Over There and not everyone had been approachable. She wasn't sure how women like Brianna and Miriam would take to Greer showing up on their doorstep, so it was probably good for Ty to take that route. So Greer nodded and smiled before picking up her coffee. "I think that's a good idea. Can we exchange numbers to keep in touch? Obviously we can find each other, but texts would definitely be faster than wandering around town."
He didn’t actually have any authority anymore, but Ty knew that some of his past career would still resonate with people, so he still felt like he did. Not to mention, he’d done his best to keep everybody organized and safe while they’d been over in that impossible chaos, and he hoped Miriam and Brianna remembered that. And if they shut their doors in his face? Oh well, at least he’d tried. “Yeah of course,” he said to Greer, picking his phone up to create a new contact. It was a little strange to not already have her number, he felt like they were bonded and knew each other now, so he was glad she’d thought of that. Once they had each other saved, he finished up the last of his coffee too. “I hope ... I hope it just fades away,” he added quietly, eyes on her face. “I just want peace and for it all to be over, you know?”
Greer nodded, her gaze becoming sympathetic, because she did know. But she had a feeling that this wasn't going to go away anytime soon. This was all part of living in Point Pleasant, after all. "Even if it doesn't go away, you still have Jared, and the rest of us... or at least me, if the others decide to pushback a bit. Being with people who love us certainly helps." The urge to reach out and rub his arm was strong and Greer sighed softly, aware that it would take some getting used to for her, and for everyone. They had certainly all changed and not in ways that could just be ignored. "I'll try to talk to some of the others this week and get in touch with you soon, okay?"
Ty nodded to the first part and murmured a little “amen to that.” It was just a verbal habit -- he had no idea what he believed anymore when it came to gods or how the universe worked. But he definitely agreed with Greer’s sentiment -- they were still pulling through for the people who loved them, the challenge had just changed when they got dumped back into this reality. If some crazy shit had to be happening in his life, Ty much preferred it happen here where he could have Jared by his side. “Okay,” he said to Greer, giving another small smile. Since it had been okay once, Ty stepped in to give her another quick hug. “Take care of yourself ‘til then. And call me just to bullshit if you want to. I got a job at the new vet’s office, but it’s only part time.”
"Oh!" Greer was happy to hear he did have a job, even if it wasn't as a cop anymore. "I keep trying to figure out if I want to ask my boys if they want to get a dog. It just feels like we're missing one at home. Maybe soon. But I'll definitely text you. I love to bullshit." Laughing, Greer leaned into the hug before pulling back to get going. It had been nice to sit and talk with Ty, despite some of the subject matter. She hoped they would do it again soon. "Tell Jared I said hi?"
“Soon as we find a house we want to buy, me and Jared are getting one,” Ty said with another bright smile. He half-turned to amble closer to the entrance door with her. “Maybe we can have doggy playdates.” How sickeningly cute and suburban was that? He already couldn’t wait. Ty held the door open for them to exit Joyland, then gave Greer a small salute. “I will though sweetie, you do the same with your dudes. Talk to you soon.”
