Who: Spence and Roxy When: evening, Saturday, June 23rd Where: out, home Warning: turns NSFW Status: complete
After a surprisingly peaceful conversation with Caden on Friday, Roxy had cried a bit, but then she’d slept like a baby, probably better than she had in a couple of weeks. She’d woken up feeling really good, which was excellent timing, because her calendar informed her that it was Spence’s birthday. She’d known it was coming soon, but time had gotten very wonky on her since the breakup. Roxy texted him before noon to ask if he had plans, and when it turned out that he didn’t, she invited him out for an evening with her, all her surprise and her treat. She wanted to really take him out for his birthday, now that she and Caden had called a truce. Running into him would probably still be awkward, but Roxy doubted he would turn up in any of the places she wanted to go tonight.
Once Spence confirmed he was game for that, Roxy hogged the bathroom for a while, taking a long soaking bath before she shaved, then shampooed her hair and exfoliated everything else. She took the time to slather on lotion afterward, and ended up feeling dewy and soft and sexy. It was the most self care she’d done in quite a while, and inspired her to work on her nails too. Before too long, it was time for hair and makeup. By the time Roxy stepped in front of the mirror in heels and a curve-hugging black dress, she was feeling pretty fucking good.
The sun was going down as she pulled into Spence’s driveway, and Roxy picked up the small bakery box on the passenger seat as she climbed out of the car. She fussed with her hair a bit as she clicked her way to the steps, smoothing her dress before she rang the bell. Her heart was fluttering already, and she found herself genuinely excited to see him tonight. It was like a weight had been lifted off of her, and she wanted to ride that feeling after so many dismal days.
Spence was more than happy to go out on a Saturday night with Roxy. Sure, it was his birthday too, but that was really a lot lower on the excitement meter. He had stopped celebrating his birthday a long time ago, although his mom still made a big deal of it, calling every year to sing to him over the phone. Living in the same town again hadn't stopped that particular tradition. He wasn't sure what they were going to do, or where they were going to go, but he dressed up nice enough, with a dark blue button down shirt. He did his best to tame his unruly hair and cleaned up his beard a bit, as not to look like some kind of homeless Sasquatch. When the doorbell rang, Spence was just finishing up tying his shoes. He meant to tell Roxy to just come on inside whenever she got there, but, like so many things, it had slipped his mind when he had gotten into the shower.
He was about to tell her so when he opened the door to greet her, but words were a bit lost - again - as he took in her appearance. She was always beautiful, but tonight she was a knock out. "You look... amazing," he said with a lopsided grin, well aware that amazing was lame compared to what she really looked like, but Spence had never been that great with words.
Who needed great words when there was that insta-dopey look on Spence’s face? Roxy could see the obvious appreciation there, and it made her grin brightly back at him. “Hi,” she said with a soft laugh, since he’d skipped that part. “Thank you, you do too.” She looked him over with her own appreciation -- Spence had always cleaned up nice, and tonight was no exception. Even the beard looked nice and trimmed, and she already wanted to nuzzle in it. They had to have a date first, she told herself, she couldn’t just pounce on him. “Happy birthday!” Roxy offered out the little bakery box. There was an oversized cupcake inside, chocolate with white buttercream frosting piled high. She’d felt like a full cake would’ve been too much, but she’d wanted to get him something tangible and tasty. Maybe they could come back here after dinner and share it.
He looked more put together tonight than usual but he was nowhere near "amazing" like Roxy was. She was definitely on a different stratosphere and Spence suddenly wished he had bought some decent pants or something like that. He finally noticed the box in her hand and automatically reached out to take it. It was sweet of her to bring him anything and Spence's smile softened. "Thanks. This looks almost as amazing as you do. You wanna come inside for a minute, or...?" He wasn't sure if they had timed plans or not, but Spence didn't want to leave her out there on the porch if they had time to kill. It had been a while since he had dated anyone and while he had come thisclose to getting married, Spence still felt like an awkward teenage boy at the moment. It was mildly exasperating but Roxy had been there when he had been a teenage boy, so hopefully she wouldn't be put off by it.
Feeling kind of fluttery-nervous herself, Roxy didn’t notice any awkwardness from Spence. He just looked pleased and cute and happy to see her, and that alone was a lovely novelty. “Yeah, sure, for a few,” Roxy answered, moving to step inside with him. She’d made reservations for them at the Boathouse, but they still had plenty of time to get there, so she didn’t feel rushed. She knew she’d probably dressed up a bit more than was necessary, but it was the first time Roxy had really wanted to get cute in quite a while, so it was nice to follow the impulse. And apparently she’d done a good job, given the way Spence was looking at her. “Nice day so far?” she asked, already thinking that if it hadn’t been, she was going to make his night spectacular, at least.
Spence shut the door and started toward the kitchen to put away the cupcake. They could share it later if she wanted. “Yeah, I mean… kinda the same as any other day. It’s been a while since I actually celebrated my birthday. After a certain age I started feeling weird about it. I got kinda c-cynical about it. Thankfully that feeling more or less went away but I never really got back into the whole… celebration party. Am I rambling? I feel like I’m rambling.” He laughed and set the cupcake box on the counter before returning to Roxy. “I don’t know. Being in the army fucked with my head. But yeah, to answer your question, it’s been a good day. Mom left me a voicemail with a terrible rendition of Happy Birthday and I talked to Greg for a few. This is definitely the best part of the day though.”
Roxy followed him into the kitchen, wondering briefly if she ought to take her heels off. They were loud in the quiet house, but she had a feeling if she got too comfortable, they would end up not actually going anywhere for dinner. He didn’t sound rambly to her at all, and she almost told him so, but he kept going and Roxy liked his voice. The part about Spence’s mom singing to his voicemail made her smile, in spite of the sad pang she’d gotten from him saying the army fucked him up. There was nothing surprising about that, but it still hurt her heart for him. Roxy stepped up close to him, her palms smoothing the shirt over his chest. “Well, I won’t make a big deal about it and make it weird,” she said, smiling softly at him. “I mean, I almost brought balloons and streamers and party hats and a pony for you to ride ...” Roxy grinned. “So this is the low key Happy Birthday. You’re welcome.” It was a good excuse to see him -- though did she even need those anymore? -- and have a good date.
Spence cocked a brow and grinned down at her. "No one's ever gonna say no to a pony." He appreciated the low key birthday, in all honesty. He wasn't that big on fantastical celebrations anymore and thankfully most people in his life seemed to respect that. He placed his hands on her hips, grateful for the physical contact. "I'm liking low key. And you in this dress." He hoped it didn't sound like he was piling it on, but she did look fantastic and Spence couldn't really help the urge to kiss her, so he did, thankful that it was something they could do now without Caden hanging over their heads like a dark cloud. Maybe the other guy wasn't completely gone, but this was progress.
Roxy had put work into her appearance tonight, so Spence was more than welcome to pile on as many compliments as he wanted to give her. Caden would tell her she looked hot and grope her ass in certain outfits, but that was about as complimentary as he got. They were different as night and day, really, and maybe part of her needed those automatic comparisons for a while, to really drive into her brain that Spence was not going to be like Caden. She had to train herself to expect different, expect more. The kiss sent happy tingles all down Roxy’s body and she pressed in a bit closer, one arm slipping around Spence’s shoulders. He smelled really nice and she could tell he’d done some beard grooming, and she didn’t think twice about parting her lips to deepen the kiss.
Spence remembered the last time they spent any real time together before she left Caden, Roxy had shaved his beard. Of course, he'd just let it grow back because he was lazy and had gotten used to the feel of it. He had no idea if she would want him to shave again, but hopefully she was okay with feeling the facial hair for a little bit. Spence reveled in the kiss, his hands pressing gently into the material of her dress. Roxy's lips were soft and that familiarity in her taste made his spine tingle pleasantly. On some level Spence knew Roxy would likely compare him to Caden. She was only human and she was still getting over a long term relationship. Had she compared Caden to Spence when they began to date? He had no idea and honestly, he didn't really want to know. All he could do was hope to make her happy instead of miserable and wasn't that the most important thing?
She preferred Spence beardless, where she could really see those dimples of his, but Roxy wasn’t going to complain about it if he liked his facial hair. It was a little scratchy on her lips, but that wasn’t an awful thing -- anything different now was kind of nice. Once Roxy reached the point in the kiss where she was thinking about just taking him upstairs, she pulled back for a breath and smiled a little dreamily. “We should probably get going,” she murmured up at him -- even in five inch heels she was shorter than Spence, something she’d always liked. It was hard to ever feel small at her size, but ‘short’ made up for a lot of that. And at least his mouth was a bit easier to reach than Caden’s. “If you’re actually hungry at all, that is.” Still smiling, Roxy scratched lightly in the hair at the nape of Spence’s neck. Her outfit definitely wouldn’t be wasted if they didn’t go out to dinner, but she did want to treat him for his birthday.
He was hungry, but not necessarily for food. It was tempting to suggest they order take out and just stay in but he knew Roxy had gone to the trouble of getting dressed up and wanting to take him out for his birthday, so he figured he could be patient. Most of the time he didn't really think about how long it had been since he'd been intimate with anyone, but when he was around Roxy, his body was acutely aware of every second of loneliness. "I could eat," Spence said after a moment of thought. He grinned and pressed a kiss to her forehead before reluctantly letting her go. "Where are we headed to?"
As much as she did want to just fall in bed with him, especially now, Roxy wanted to do this “right.” The meaning of that was rather vague and malleable in her mind, but it did involve actually going out into public together and having conversations and not just drowning herself in the physical possibilities open to them now. There was no doubt that Roxy wanted Spence’s body, but she wanted more than that, too. She needed more than that. So she let him pull back, her hands lingering on his chest for a moment before she dropped them. “I’ve got reservations at The Boathouse,” she told him with a smile, moving away to grab her purse. “But if you can’t stand it there, I’m flexible. I guess you can have some veto power on your birthday.” Roxy grinned a little.
Spence laughed. "I haven't been to The Boathouse in a long time, so that sounds pretty good." He would have been happy going through a drive-thru with Roxy. It was the company that mattered to him and he had to remind himself that they would get more nights like these. This wasn't just a one and done kind of moment. It still felt a bit fragile to him, like she might change her mind again, but Spence knew he couldn't let those insecurities eat away at him. He didn't want to inadvertently ruin this. "Besides, it'd be a damn shame not to show you off in that dress," Spence said, grabbing his house keys to lock up as they headed outside.
Roxy giggled as she joined him, tugging a bit at the fabric hugging her thighs. She did look damn good, and she thought they looked extra sharp together, and while she knew they probably wouldn’t run into anyone they knew at the priciest restaurant in town, part of her wished it would happen. But she had similar thoughts that this wasn’t the only time they’d get to go out -- she was free now to date Spence as much as she wanted. It remained to be seen whether Caden would keep his word and leave them alone, but Roxy at least had an official truce to throw in his face now if he acted like an asshole.
It felt unspeakably good to sit in a nice place with a nice man and eat a nice meal, and Roxy enjoyed dinner almost like it was her birthday. They’d taken her car with good intentions, but she ended up having a few glasses of wine with her food. By the time their plates were cleared, she was feeling lightheaded and kind of giddy. She leaned in closer to Spence, her hand resting on his knee, and gave him an apologetic face. “You might have to drive, I’m sorry,” she whispered to him, then giggled.
Spence had had a couple of drinks but he'd always been able to hold his liquor. And since he had been discharged from the army, he had learned to limit himself after learning too much alcohol gave him more vivid nightmares. But it was great to watch Roxy enjoy herself and he had to admit she looked happier and healthier since the last few times he had seen her. He wasn't going to attribute that to himself, but breaking away from a toxic relationship certainly agreed with her. As they took their plates away, Spence grinned at Roxy, who was clearly tipsy, if not drunk. "I can drive, you've got nothing to be sorry for. You think you can make it to the car?"
Roxy had meant to drive them both around so Spence could get nice and toasted and not have to worry about it, but somewhere along the way she’d pulled ahead of him in drinks. She probably should’ve stopped, but it was hard when everything was feeling good for once, finally. And Spence seemed to be enjoying himself anyway, so maybe he didn’t mind so much. “Ohhh yes, I’m good,” Roxy said, giving him a cheesy thumbs up. She tittered again and reached for the check in its little black folder. She was going to pay for dinner, whether she could drive or not. Roxy pulled her card out to tuck it into place. “Back to your house?” she asked, a little smirk crossing her face. “Since we left a giant cupcake there waiting for us and all.”
Spence's instinct was to reach for the bill and pay himself, but he knew Roxy would argue with him, since it was his birthday. So he let her handle it, grinning at how loose she seemed to be feeling. It was nice to see her smiling too and he hoped they could end the evening on a high note with the dark cloud of Caden Lucas finally gone from their lives. Maybe it wasn't that easy, given how long he and Roxy had been together, but any progress was good progress. "I'm definitely thinking about the cupcake," Spence said with a wistful sort of look on his face. "Can't remember the last time I had cake of any kind, to be honest. I probably shouldn't have eaten so much." He patted his flat stomach with a widening grin. "I think I've got some beer in the fridge too. Does cake and beer go good together? Or is that wine?"
She lifted her brows at him in shock and dismay that he hadn’t had cake in so long, because that was just sad deprivation. It made Roxy wish she’d been extra and gotten him a whole cake. A small one, maybe, but still. She would’ve been happy to help him eat it too, since he didn’t look like he ate a single bit of junk food in his life. “Cake goes good with everything, especially if you’re already drinking,” she declared. Wine probably would be better tasting, but Roxy wasn’t going to try to make him stop on the way. If he had beer, she would drink beer. Or maybe some water, so she wouldn’t get a headache ... or too drunk to do what she really wanted to do with Spence tonight. Once the waitress had come and gone and then come back again, Roxy scribbled her name on the signature line on the receipt, then grabbed her purse and stood up. She fished her keys out of her bag and offered them to Spence. “Shall we?”
Spence stood when Roxy did, taking the keys. "We shall." He slipped his free hand into hers to walk with her to the front of the restaurant and outside. Roxy seemed to be steady enough on her feet so he wasn't too worried about her tripping. "Tell me if you start to feel dizzy or anything." Bringing her hand up to his lips, he kissed it quickly. "Thank you for dinner. That was a hell of a lot better than my usual frozen pizza. Is Mila expecting you home?" He knew Mila wasn't Roxy's guardian or anything, but Spence was maybe not-so-subtly trying to figure out if Roxy planned on staying the night or if she would need a ride home later.
It felt so pleasant to walk out of somewhere holding a man’s hand again, and the kiss Spence gave it sent happy flutters through Roxy. She felt almost floaty as she walked out into the night air with him, light on her heels from all the wine. “I feel great,” Roxy assured him, and she really did. If she did get wobbly, she knew that Spence would catch her, and he would get them home safe, and maybe he would let her touch him a little under his clothes. Roxy scoff-laughed softly at the mention of frozen pizza, then shook her head. “No, I told her I might be like, super late? Or not back at all? I’m s’posed to check in later, but ... I mean, only if you wanna keep me all night, of course, no pressure,” she hurried to add, squeezing his hand a bit. “Frozen pizza? Really? Ugh, I have to cook for you, ohmygod Spence.” She giggled again.
Spence chuckled at the idea of Mila telling Roxy to check in, like she was a teenager out on a date. At the same time, he was glad she had people who cared about her enough to make sure she was doing all right. "You can stay as long as you want to stay," Spence assured her. "I'm certainly not going to kick you out. Plus, you know, you're all w-wine giggly too, so it's better you don't drive," he teased. Walking them to the car, Spence helped Roxy around the passenger side where he opened the door for her. "You can also cook for me anytime. You tell me what groceries you need and I'll make sure they're in my kitchen. I remember hearing something about those tamales?"
“You’re wine giggly!” Roxy countered, then laughed again. She didn’t plan on driving anywhere, so that would probably be a good excuse to spend the night, so Spence didn’t have to go out again. That made sense, right? And if there was only one bed ... thinking about it made her stomach all fluttery. She flashed him a bright smile as she climbed into the car. “Yes, my tamales are amazing,” she said. “I’ll make a list.” She would also probably think of a dozen other things she wanted to make for him. If he was just eating junk, he probably wasn’t eating enough either. Roxy thought she should make him a bunch of stuff to freeze and just keep on hand. Plus, she ought to learn her way around her future kitchen, right? Once Spence had settled into the driver’s seat, Roxy turned toward him, reaching over to toy with the hair right behind Spence’s ear. “You’re gonna be so full, dating me,” she murmured.
She was buzzed for sure, but it was a cute kind of buzzed and Spence laughed even as his body tingled from the feel of her fingers in his hair. "That's one of many bonuses that come with you," he told her as he started up the car. Before he pulled out of the parking lot, however, Spence leaned over to brush his lips against Roxy's again. Now that he was allowed to do it, it was hard to resist whenever he got the urge, which was often. "I'll have to think of something to give you in return," he murmured against her lips before chuckling. "Because I can't cook for shit."
Roxy smiled again as Spence leaned in, cupping the sides of his face with both hands. She let him keep the kiss soft for the moment, because she felt like if they started to make out here, she would have no patience for the drive home. She hummed and stole another few soft smooches, scratching lightly in his beard. “You don’t have to give me anything but you,” she told him softly, smiling again. “You’re way better than food.” Roxy gave a soft snicker. That was a high compliment coming from a fat girl, right? Really, Roxy felt like she was getting the better deal with this relationship -- was it a relationship yet? -- but she would do what she could to deserve him.
"Well, that's easy enough," he said, kissing her again before reluctantly pulling back to finally get driving. Spence could only hope he was better than food. He wasn't exactly the same guy she had dated in high school and he came with a hell of a lot more baggage. Roxy deserved someone amazing and he wanted to do his best to live up to that. "Maybe I can learn how to bake," he told her with a small grin. "Because I sure as hell ain't better than cake. Thank you for d-dinner, by the way. Did I already say that? If so... thank you again. Haven't been to The Boathouse in a long time. Best birthday I've had in a while."
“You’re welcome, babe,” Roxy told him as she relaxed back into the seat next to him. It felt natural to call him a pet name and she kind of loved it already. Roxy hoped Spence liked it too, hoped he would like her being sweet and affectionate and loving on him all the time. It felt like she’d been pushing those parts of herself down for years, and she was so tired. “Your birthday’s not even over yet though,” she added, her tone suggestive as she reached over to play with a bit of his hair again and touch the curve of his ear lightly. “We’ve still got that bigass cupcake, speaking of cake.” Roxy giggled a bit.
Spence did like being called 'babe'. It made him feel... loved, which was probably odd but he hadn't had a pet name in a long time. He hadn't had anyone play with his hair in a long time either and Spence couldn't help but lean into her fingers a little. "Oh, yeah, that bigass cupcake. I almost forgot. Amazing how a full stomach can suddenly find a bit of room when there's dessert coming." Of course he was hoping for more than cake but he certainly wasn't going to make assumptions. Just having Roxy's company was enough for Spence and he wasn't going to ruin anything by moving things too fast if she wasn't ready.
Roxy definitely had more than cake on her mind. She’d muffled any remaining over-cautious “good sense” in her head with alcohol -- not that there had been much of it left anyway. Caden had unexpectedly taken that burden off of her, whether he’d been sincere or not. Roxy didn’t care anymore, that was his problem. Right then all that she gave a shit about was getting Spence home to indulge in more than just dessert. She hummed her agreement and kept touching him here and there throughout the rest of the drive -- hair, ear, his arm, and finally her hand rested on his leg as they pulled up to the house. Roxy surprised herself a bit by thinking of it as ‘home’ as Spence put the car in park. It gave her the warm fuzzies, which was probably a sign of something. She reached for her purse and moved to climb out of the car.
It was more than nice to bring someone home with him. Spence enjoyed his privacy but the house could get lonely and it seemed made to have another person living there with him. Roxy seemed comfortable enough there as well, which he took to be a pretty good sign. Spence followed her to the front door and let her inside, eager to get out of his shoes and spend some time with her alone. "Cake?" he asked, tossing his keys on the nearest surface. "I can make coffee, or... get us a beer or something, if you want?" Spence knew she was planning on staying the night - at least he hoped she was - but it still felt like he needed to prolong things somehow, like she might suddenly change her mind and want to go. It was silly of him, and he knew it, but Spence couldn't help that tiny sliver of uncertainty that continued to linger.
Roxy could still walk in her heels, but it was treacherous, so as soon as they were inside she kicked them off and dropped her purse on the same table Spence tossed his keys onto. “Cake, yes!” she declared as she turned to head toward the kitchen. “Beer for you is fine, think I’m good or I’m just gonna fall out on the floor asleep.” She didn’t want to drink anymore and render herself useless, but if Spence wanted to relax with another beer or two, she didn’t mind at all. Roxy snickered and did a little skip-hop to get her to the counter where they’d left the cupcake. She started to carefully open the box and take the big treat out. “No candles or singing, sorry,” she sing-songed at Spence, unaware of the irony, then started hunting through the drawers for a knife and forks.
Spence really didn't feel the need to have a beer, but he did open the cabinet to pull out two glasses to fill with ice water. "You're not going to sing for me?" he asked her with a mock pout. "I guess I'll just have to be satisfied with my mom's voicemail. Forks are in the far left drawer." He supposed she ought to get used to where things were, because he had a feeling she would be spending more time at his place. At least he hoped she would. Was it too early to get her a key? Would that freak her out? "This looks really good." Spence couldn't help but dip his fingertip into the side of the icing before tasting it. He didn't eat sweets a lot but damn, when he did, he was sure to enjoy it.
Roxy gave a light laugh. “You don’t want me to sing, trust me,” she said. It was a bit overly modest, she had a decent voice, Roxy just didn’t really sing in front of people. It happened more in the car with the radio up, or when she had headphones on while she was cleaning. She planned to satisfy Spence in other ways tonight, ways that would no doubt scandalize his mother. Roxy cut the cupcake in half and handed Spence a fork, quickly rising up on her toes to give him a chaste kiss on the lips. “Happy birthday, Spence,” she murmured with a smile when she pulled back.
"I've heard you sing before," he reminded her with a grin before accepting her kiss. They had both rocked out in his car back in high school, though that was still so long ago. With the fork in his hand, he still slipped an arm around her to hold her close, wanting to kiss her properly. He didn't think she would mind too much and Spence settled into the feeling of his lips on hers, forgetting about the cupcake for the moment. She looked damn beautiful and she had gone out of her way to make it a nice birthday for him. He wanted to just revel in the knowledge that they were together again and could do this without worrying about what tomorrow might bring.
Spence tasted slightly sweet from the stolen icing, and Roxy felt like she melted right into kissing him, her arms settling around his shoulders. His body felt good against hers, solid and warm, and Roxy leaned into him a bit, enjoying how it felt to press her breasts against his chest. She’d always been fairly easy to arouse, her body nicely responsive, but it had been a while since Roxy had felt this sexy. Like she was really attracting a man who wasn’t taking her for granted. Spence had been a good kisser back when they were blasting music in his car and making out, and that didn’t seem to have changed. Roxy hummed a soft sound as she parted her lips to kiss him deeper, a tingly sort of warmth pooling in her lower belly.
Despite the fact that they were both adults now, and had led different lives for years, kissing Roxy did make him feel like a teenager again. Back when things were easier and they didn't have to worry about their futures or being adults. Not to mention his libido was definitely waking up again and his hands smoothed down over Roxy's back to her waist, eager to touch where he hadn't been able to do before. He wanted the cupcake, obviously, but he wanted this more and he hoped she wasn't offended if he forgot about dessert for the moment. "Can we go upstairs?" he murmured against her lips, wanting to make sure they were going at her pace and he wasn't making assumptions.
Roxy was far from offended, she was aroused instead, her dress and under-things suddenly feeling too tight and restricting. The soft question made her heart beat faster, and she drew in a sharper breath. They hadn’t done much more than kiss a handful of times as adults, and now the opportunity for so much more was right on the table, and all the bad strings that had been attached to it were cut away. Roxy suddenly felt free in a way she hadn’t in a long time, and it made that tingle between her legs stronger. “Hell yes, we can,” she replied, smiling reflexively. Roxy kissed Spence’s lips again, but made it brief, then pulled away and took his hand.
Spence didn't think Roxy was going to turn him down. He knew she had planned on staying the night and now that it felt like Caden Lucas was a part of the past, Spence thought they could finally move on with things and see where life took them. He didn't want to jump the gun too much, but it didn't seem all that wrong to find out if he and Roxy still connected, not only emotionally, but physically too. Sometimes in high school it was all about pleasure and hormones, but he had a feeling there would be much more to it now. They had both been through a lot, and had both made lives with other people for a while... now it was time to focus on each other. He squeezed her hand gently and led her from the kitchen to the stairs. His room still wasn't as put together as he would have liked, but at least he had a bed frame, right? "This place'll eventually look like it belongs to a grown up," he muttered, flashing her a grin. "Never knew what a process putting a home together was."
Roxy’s heart was beating hard as they ascended the stairs. It had been a long time since she’d had sex with any man besides Caden, and even though she wasn’t a complete stranger to Spence’s body, a lot had changed in the intervening years, for both of them. They knew they still liked to kiss each other -- would that extend to other things as well? Roxy had developed a taste for rough sex, could Spence give her that? Would he even want to, considering the abuse in her history? If he didn’t, could she get off? Would he be disappointed or upset if she couldn’t? She was probably overthinking it, and she knew she would’ve been completely spinning out mentally if she wasn’t mostly drunk and already horny. Roxy tried to hush all those doubts and just let herself be in the moment. It was a chance to explore new things, and it had been so long since she’d had one of those. “It just takes time,” she murmured softly as she turned toward Spence. Smiling faintly, Roxy started unbuttoning his shirt, her eyes ticking between that and his face. “Are you nervous? I am.”
Spence wasn't thinking much about his likes or dislikes, just his very vague worry that he might disappoint her. It wasn't like Spence was out having a lot of sex and the last thing he wanted to do was have it end sooner than either of them wanted. On the other hand, a helpful voice in the back of his mind reminded him that this wasn't a one and done deal. Even if their first time wasn't perfect, they would have another chance, right? Though Spence was aware he shouldn't be preparing himself for the worst already. He needed to just focus on Roxy and how good she felt. "I'm a little nervous," Spence admitted with a soft laugh, his hands moving to her hips to rest there. "It's uh, been awhile for me. Why're you nervous?" He didn't want to make her nervous by any means and Spence couldn't help but slide his hands up her sides, just to feel the material of the dress hugging her body.
At least he was honest about it, Roxy appreciated that more than she could express. Caden would’ve never admitted to her that he was nervous about anything. Roxy allowed herself that one thought and then tried to banish him from her mind. He had no place in this room with them anymore. She gently pulled Spence’s shirt out of his jeans as she gave a tiny shrug. “I was with the same man for over five years ... it’s a good kind of nervous,” she assured him with a soft smile. Roxy ran her hands up Spence’s chest to his shoulders to nudge the unbuttoned shirt off of him. His skin felt incredibly nice under her palms, and she leaned in to press a couple of soft kisses against his chest. He smelled delicious, even under his clothes. “Just don’t hold back, okay?” Roxy murmured, glancing up at his face briefly. “Don’t worry about hurting me, I’m kinda ... into that.” She wrinkled her nose briefly and smiled again. Maybe that wasn’t the best way to explain it, but it was the best she could do at the moment.
He could understand her nervousness, being with someone new after so long. Well, Spence supposed he wasn't really new, but he knew what she meant. His body tingled as she undressed him and Spence was feeling eager to get his hands under her dress to start touching bare skin himself. It took him a moment to really register what she was saying and Spence blinked, trying to focus a bit, despite how good her hands felt on his body. "Kinda into... getting hurt?" It was entirely possible he was misconstruing what she meant, but he knew her history with Caden, so he was maybe a tiny bit alarmed, even if he didn't let it show in his expression.
Part of Roxy cringed. Ugh, why had she felt compelled to say something about it now? The answer to that was because she was aroused and she wanted to have good sex with Spence for their first time reuniting, but that was probably selfish of her, wasn’t it? “Not like, hurt, I guess,” she said, her tone a bit apologetic even as she got his shirt completely off and let it drop to the floor. “But y’know ... passion, a bit of roughness ... don’t force it if you don’t feel it, of course, but if you wanna like, pull my hair or smack my ass hard or anything ... I like that. Just don’t ... I’m not glass. That’s all I mean.” Was she rambling? She was rambling, and probably turning him off more and more and the liquor had loosened her tongue too much and now Spence would see that she was damaged goods. Looking pained and fretful suddenly, Roxy groaned softly and hid her face against Spence’s chest. “I sound fucked up, don’t I? M’sorry,” she mumbled.
The combination of arousal and confusion was a strange mix, because now his mind was racing. Would Roxy expect him to be rough tonight? Or anytime they were intimate? Would she be disappointed if he wasn't? Would he have to shift his own natural feeling around to do what she liked? He wanted to please her, but Spence had always just gone with the feeling of the moment, the mood. To Spence, passion didn't necessarily mean rough. He never really had to think about what he was doing to a woman, he just did it. "You're not fucked up," Spence said, bringing his hand up to run it over her hair. "I want to know what you like... I just... I just d-don't want to disappoint you, if..." What was he trying to say? Spence was desperate to find the words but his tongue seemed to be useless, his mind clouding the way it did when his brain refused to cooperate.
She was fucked up and she’d been fucked up, probably even when they’d dated the first time. It had just gotten worse over the course of her life. Roxy couldn’t even blame Caden -- she was the one who’d been attracted to him, had wanted that type of man and that type of sex and that tumultuous relationship. And now she was making Spence insecure -- a sweet and considerate person who just wanted to treat her well and make her happy. “No, I won’t-- I won’t be disappointed,” she said, lifting her head again to look at him. Despite the awkwardness, Roxy couldn’t stop touching him now that she had her hands on his skin, and she stroked his back and sides as she pressed a couple of kisses against his chin. “Just forget about it, it’s not important, I just -- I just want you, no matter how,” she murmured. She was too drunk to properly have a conversation about it, and now too embarrassed and a little ashamed of herself. Roxy just wanted to drown those feelings in Spence.
It was important, because Spence wanted to make Roxy happy. Would she want him if he wasn't everything she wanted in bed? He knew better than to let it get into his head and paralyze him, but Roxy was coming out of a long-term relationship, and maybe there were parts of it she wasn't willing to let go of. That wasn't to say Spence had never had rough sex, because he had and he had enjoyed it. It was just always something that happened in the moment. And he was definitely overthinking everything now. Desperate to shut it out of his mind, Spence kissed her again, focusing on his hands and getting her dress off of her body. It really was too late to get into a deeper conversation about it and Spence didn't want to ruin the night by pulling back. He wanted to be with her and hopefully everything else would just fall into place.
Relieved and grateful that he didn’t say anything else, Roxy kissed him back with feeling, just as desperate to push out everything but arousal and pleasure now. She was definitely feeling plenty of desire for him, whatever flavor the sex ended up having. Roxy helped him get her dress off, tugging and shimmying out of it and keeping up the kiss as best she could. She had her best lacy black bra and panties on underneath, and she was glad now that she hadn’t wasted time on stockings or anything extra that would have to come off. With a soft sound in the back of her throat, she reached for the fly of Spence’s jeans to get it undone, just as eager to get him naked as he was her.
Spence was okay with not talking, at least for now. His hands were immediately drawn to her skin and he smoothed his hands over her waist, wanting to tug her closer but not wanting to make it harder for her to get his jeans off. With a small grunt of frustration at the entire idea of clothing, he quickly helped her with his zipper, pushing his jeans down until he could discard them properly. His lips found hers again and he kissed her harder, deeper, moving her back toward his bed with his body. As much as he loved seeing her in sexy underwear, he wanted her completely naked and as he kissed her, his hands slipped behind her to unhook her bra and pull it down her arms.
Roxy got a vague sense of amusement from Spence’s impatience with his jeans, but it was quickly overwhelmed by the spike of arousal when he kissed her again. There was the passion she had been so clumsily trying to encourage. Or ask for. Roxy didn’t know anymore, and it didn’t matter, because she felt that kiss right in her clit and it was delicious. Roxy moved with Spence, more than happy to get rid of her bra on the way. The backs of her legs hit the edge of the bed and Roxy had to come up for air, her heart pounding hard in her chest. She looked into Spence’s eyes for a beat, then started to slowly sit, kissing and lightly nipping her way down his chest and stomach as she went. Roxy hooked her fingers into the waist of his boxers to pull them down with her. She hadn’t seen Spence’s cock in years, but god, she wanted it in her mouth already.
Spence had forgotten the brief moment of uncertainty, his focus solely on Roxy now and the way she was touching him. Her lips left a trail of fire on his skin and Spence had to resist pushing her back onto the bed and spreading her thighs. It had been a while since he had been intimate with anyone and his cock was more than a little eager to slip into that promising wet heat. But she was pushing his boxers down and he couldn't help but watch, his lips parted with heavier breaths. Needing something to do with his hands, Spence slipped them into her hair, stroking the silky strands with his fingers. They had the added benefit of having already seen one another naked, years ago, but his nerves made it feel like the first time.
In a way, it was the first time all over again. Spence’s body hadn’t changed a whole lot from what Roxy remembered -- there were more scars, more hair, and his musculature had matured and filled out into the shape of a grown man, but he looked familiar and beautiful and part of her needed that. It was weirdly reassuring. She knew her own body was pretty different from how she’d looked as a teenager, but the insecurity Roxy felt around how much weight she’d put on in the intervening years was distant and hard to hear for now. She was far more focused on Spence and the way his cock bounced free of his boxers to meet her. Roxy pushed the cloth down to Spence’s calves and let it go, wrapping one hand around the base of his erection as she began to run her lips and tongue along the length of it, exploring before she took the flushed head into her mouth to suck on.
Spence knew they had both changed a lot since high school, both mentally, emotionally, and physically, but he still found Roxy insanely attractive. She was smart and funny and loyal, and he wanted to lose himself in her curves and the smell of her hair. Everything about her turned him on, especially the way she touched him, how her tongue felt against his cock. Spence released a low groan, one hand slipping into her hair, his fingers curling around the strands. He knew what was coming and yet his hips still jerked slightly when she took the head of his cock into her mouth. All that wet heat was almost too much but Spence held back from thrusting. Instead he watched her, his lips parted slightly and his fingers tightening in her hair.
He tasted good, clean but still like a man, something Roxy had always secretly loved. There was just something about that slight salt-and-musk scent in her nose that made her pussy throb with need. Spence may have been infinitely more gentle and level-headed than Caden could ever hope to be, but he was still strong and masculine and at the moment she drunkenly wanted to stuff every part of him inside of her. Roxy could be patient though, that groan of his making her greedy for more sounds from him, her nipples drawing tighter. She knew she was great at giving head, but she tried to rein it in a little, not wanting to rush him to the finish line before they were ready. With a soft moan in her throat, she took Spence deeper, relishing the solid heat between her lips, exploring him with her tongue before she sucked a little harder and started to slowly bob her head.
The sensations that began to wash over Spence were familiar and yet so indescribable. While Roxy's mouth moved expertly around his cock, Spence's toes curled against the floor, his hand tightening in the silky strands of her hair. He could already feel that coil of pleasure begin to tighten in his gut and Spence drew in a deep breath, desperate to control it. He was not about to let his impatient body ruin this, especially not before he got a taste of Roxy himself. He nearly asked her to slow down but the words got stuck in his throat, replaced by another groan. He had no desire to choke her but Spence couldn't help but move his hips to the rhythm she had set. He would stop her in just another moment or two. Right now it felt too damn good and he figured it was okay to be a little selfish.
Roxy knew -- or guessed, anyway, and she didn’t want to know otherwise -- that it had been a while since Spence had gotten laid, so he was probably highly sensitive to pleasure. She found that hot as fuck, but she had her wits about her enough to know to be careful with him. Part of her was tempted to just suck the soul out of his body and blow his mind, but even more of her was impatient to feel his cock inside of her. Roxy moaned encouragingly around him when he started to thrust. She lightly dragged her nails down the sides of his thighs, moving with him to take him deeper into her throat. The grip in her hair wasn’t as tight as she sometimes liked it, but it still sent excited tingles all the way down her spine.
Her nails were as heavenly as her mouth and Spence groaned loudly, his balls starting to tighten in such a way that he knew he needed Roxy to stop or this would be over way too soon. Gripping her hair, he gently tugged to get her to pull back and then to her feet. "Bed," he said hoarsely, wanting to get them both laying down so he could touch and taste her too. Every single inch of his body felt as though it was on fire, alive and awake for the first time in years and while Spence knew they weren't exactly in the same place, sexually, he still wanted to try and make her feel as good as he was feeling.
It was gentle, but that pull in her hair still felt so damn good. Roxy rocked back on her heels and stood up, one hand on the edge of the bed and one on Spence’s leg. He looked so delicious, completely bare and hard and flushed ... she wished her vision wasn’t as drunk-blurred, because she wanted to remember this clearly forever. Roxy ran her hands over him a bit more before she sat on the bed and scooted back, reaching to push her black lace underwear down her hips as she did so. It amused her briefly that they were getting to do this on a bed -- Spence’s mom had always been more liberal than her own parents, but it had still taken some scheduling luck for them to be able to have sex on a bed, somewhere they could make as much noise as they wanted. Being an adult made sex so much easier than it had been as a teen. “Remember back when it was hard to find a safe bed?” she asked in a murmur, smiling a touch.
Spence could feel all coherency seep from his brain as Roxy got rid of her underwear. Goddamn, she was gorgeous and Spence leaned over her on the bed, using his body to ease her down completely. Despite how brain-dumb he felt at the moment, Spence still grinned at the memory of them trying to find various places to fool around. "I kind of wish I still had my car from back then. It had so much space in the back, remember?" She was right though, it had taken a lot of work to get to use his bed when they were teenagers. Always having to make sure his parents weren't home and Greg was off somewhere else. He wondered if his brother ever had that problem now, but then again, being so close to Roxy's naked body really pushed all thought of his family completely out of his head. Spence ducked his face to kiss her neck, his hand sliding down, over her breast and stomach. He dipped his fingers between her legs, wanting to see how ready she was for him and maybe tease her for a bit. He found her clit and began to rub slowly.
“Yeah,” she whispered with a smile. Roxy felt a sweet nostalgia thinking back to those days -- riding Spence in the back of his car out in the Fallows, as alone as they could get, feeling so in love as their hot breath mingled together and they both drowned in pleasure. God, she’d had it bad for him back then ... and apparently still did. It was funny how some things felt so different and others exactly the same. Spence’s hand left tingles in its wake as he touched her body, and Roxy’s thighs spread further to give him plenty of room to explore. She tilted her head back and closed her eyes, moaning softly as Spence’s lips on her neck enhanced those first brushes of his fingers against her sex. Her body had always been very responsive to any stimulation, and she happened to love giving head, so she was wet and swollen already, but Roxy was good with taking their time. She ran her own hands over Spence’s arms and shoulders and the back of his neck, just as hungry to keep touching him as he was her.
For a long time Spence figured Roxy simply forgot about high school, including their relationship. He knew it hadn't been easy when they broke up, though in his heart he knew it had been the right thing to do. And then he heard about her relationship with Caden Lucas and that had lasted a hell of a lot longer than any of Spence's relationships. Not many people had the patience for a stuttering vet who had night terrors. He was getting better, but he certainly wasn't perfect. And he and Roxy weren't the kids they'd been in high school either, but he was more than eager to get to know the woman she had become. With her legs parted now, Spence began to explore her in earnest, his lips still pressed to her throat where he breathed her in. She was so slick with arousal that Spence couldn't help but moan against her skin before he slipped a finger inside of her, curling it immediately to stroke and get her moving against him.
Nobody got through life unscathed, in Roxy’s experience. Spence was damaged, she was damaged, Caden was damaged. She didn’t expect perfection out of anyone, and she knew she couldn’t provide it, so she hoped Spence could be patient with her too. He’d already treated her with the kindness and understanding she’d craved for so long, Roxy felt like she needed to see this through, see what they could be together. Currently it felt like the best decision she’d ever made, pleasure coiling low in her belly as Spence groaned against her skin. Her breath caught as his finger entered her, unable to stop her hips from lifting to try and take it deeper. It was a tease, but god it felt so good. Roxy dragged her nails up Spence’s spine, then delved her fingers into his hair. “God, I want you,” she breathed, her legs closing briefly around his hand.
Spence knew relationships were hard, especially relationships that came with a lot of baggage. But he felt good about this and about Roxy and he had a feeling that both of them were ready to try. Maybe it wouldn't work out, but he really hoped it would. He continued to stroke his finger inside of her, lifting his head to draw her into another kiss. He could only imagine how all of that wet heat was going to feel around his cock and god he hoped he could last for more than a few minutes once he found out. She was just so beautiful and there was so much history and promise there between them now. Spence felt overwhelmed by it all, but in a good way. Kissing her deeply, Spence groaned again and then pulled back, leaving his forehead pressed to hers as he worked to catch his breath. "Condom?"
Roxy loved having him so close, he smelled so good and she just wanted his whole body pressed tight against hers. Her fingers flexed in his hair and the question made her eyes crack open to look at what she could see of his handsome face. She hadn’t even thought about condoms or that Spence might want to use one. For all of his other faults, Roxy knew that Caden wasn’t a cheater, and they’d been fucking only each other for years ... she wasn’t worried about Spence having anything contagious either, though maybe she ought to. It was so hard to think when she was drunk and turned on and so hungry to feel all of him. “Not unless you want it,” she murmured to him, nudging their noses together. “Birth control is covered.” Roxy kept rocking her hips slowly against his hand, the tease of just that one finger making her feel crazy in the best sort of way, her body very eager to be reminded of what Spence’s cock felt like stretching her open, wrapped up or not.
Spence had gone through his phase of sleeping with whoever struck his fancy, but he'd always been safe about it. And he trusted Roxy that she was on birth control, although maybe deep down he wasn't really scared at the prospect of her getting pregnant. It was way too early for that in their relationship, but the mere idea of it put a warmth in his belly, rather than fear. Spence pressed his thumb to her clit firmly, groaning at the way he could feel her body squeeze around his finger. Finally he couldn't take it anymore and he drew his finger from her body, bringing it up to his mouth to suck the juices off of it and taste her. He wanted desperately to get between her legs and use his tongue to drive her crazy for a while, but Spence didn't think his cock could wait much longer. As he rolled on top of her and settled between her legs, Spence told himself they had all night and this certainly wouldn't be the only chance he'd get to please her.
Kissing her hard, Spence reached down to line up his cock against her pussy. The first thrust into her body wasn't exactly rough, but it certainly wasn't as gentle as he probably meant it to be. The way she enveloped him in heat prompted Spence to duck his face down to press against her neck. He had to hold still for a moment, just to make sure he wouldn't go off prematurely.
An erotic shiver raced down through Roxy’s body as she watched Spence lick and suck his finger -- there was something so promising about it. She’d never been deprived of oral pleasure from Caden, but it was always hot to know a man liked the way she tasted. If she hadn’t felt so damn impatient for his cock inside of her, Roxy would’ve happily sat on his face so he could really dig in. There would be time for that later ... and maybe for the rest of their lives, now. Her heart was beating hard as Spence shifted position, and she wrapped her thick thighs around his hips, moaning softly into the hard kiss while he got into place. That initial thrust sent a sharp spike of pleasure into her gut and Roxy gave a little cry of pleasure, her body already clenching around him. Roxy clung to Spence’s arm with one hand, the other at the back of his neck as he pressed in close to her. “You feel so good,” she breathed close to Spence’s ear, her hips rocking a bit just to feel him deep inside her.
Sliding into Roxy was like sliding straight into heaven. A really sexy, gorgeous heaven. The thought might have made him chuckle, but there was really nothing funny about how he was feeling at the moment. Groaning when she moved beneath him, Spence curled one fist into the blankets beside Roxy's head to try and control himself. The urge to rut as hard as he could was overwhelming, but he knew there was no way he would last long enough to get her there before he did if he gave into those base desires. "So do you," Spence said, managing to get the words out somehow. He kissed her again before tentatively moving his hips, slowly starting to thrust. More than anything, he just wanted to make this last, to make Roxy feel amazing before it was over. That was really his only goal in life right now and he was determined to see it through.
She knew that Spence hadn’t been out chasing every skirt in sight since he’d been home, and it had probably been even longer since he’d had sex without a condom on, so Roxy didn’t expect some kind of fuck marathon tonight. She loved knowing that she was giving Spence more intense pleasure than he’d had in a while though -- that unsteadiness in his breathing and the tension in his muscles said so much. She gave a soft whimper when he started to move, everything in her core so swollen and sensitive, and couldn’t help the way her body moved with his, arching up into his slow thrusts to draw him in deep. Every movement pushed her clit against his body, and Roxy knew it wouldn’t take her too long to reach the finish line either, even at this pace. She’d always counted herself lucky for her body’s hair-trigger orgasms, especially in times like these. Roxy stroked and lightly scratched at his back in the meantime, her breathing getting heavier and more moans escaping her.
Despite all that had changed over the years, being with Roxy again threw Spence back into a headspace that felt much calmer than what he was used to. It was almost like he could close his eyes and return to a time before the army, and adulthood and responsibilities. He could be in high school again when the only thing he had to really worry about was where to find a bed to have sex with Roxy. The way she moved against him was one of the most erotic things he had ever felt and Spence shivered at the feel of her nails at his back. While his mind wanted to keep things slow, his body was in control and Spence began to thrust harder with longer strokes. He kissed her jaw and then her throat, nipping lightly with his teeth as groans formed in his throat.
Every thrust of his cock brought sharp stabs of pleasure, and Roxy couldn’t keep quiet about it. Not that she was really trying to -- she wanted him to know how he was making her feel, that each snap of his hips sent her spiraling higher. In their past, sex with Spence had been as good as two teenagers could make it, she’d never been unsatisfied, but now it felt ten times better. Maybe it was the experience they both had under their belts now, or that this was a reunion she’d ached for so many times after Spence had left, or it was her first time with someone different in five years, or all of the above ... Roxy didn’t know and didn’t care at the moment. Her whole being was just full of Spence and pleasure, and she didn’t want it to ever stop. She pulled her legs back closer to her body to get as much depth as she could, her hands moving down to Spence’s ass to feel the muscle working under skin as his mouth at her neck made her shiver. That knot inside of her was tightening so deliciously, she knew she was on the brink. “Yes, Spence,” Roxy whine-panted to him. “Fuck, don’t stop ...”
Spence was unable to form a coherent thought at the moment. He was completely enveloped by how Roxy felt, how she sounded. He had tried to hold back as long as he could but before he knew it, he was pounding his hips against hers with purpose, completely caught up in the sounds their bodies made together, the way Roxy encouraged him. He didn't want to stop, didn't think he could at this point, even if she wanted him to. All Spence could really do was grip her hair with one hand, the blanket with the other and drive them both over the edge. He could feel it in her body that she was close and he refused to go over the peak without her. "Fuck," he grunted, fucking her now with an intensity he hadn't felt in years.
It was bliss, and the kind of moment Roxy wished she could preserve and revisit whenever she wanted to. Part of her regretted drinking so much so this memory would be more clear down the road, but for the moment she was completely engrossed in it and loving every second. The way Spence picked up the pace and fucked her like his life depended on it was exactly what she needed, and within a couple of minutes Roxy was flying. She cried out and bucked under him, her knees pressing into his sides as her body clenched around his driving cock over and over. The sting in her scalp from pulling against Spence’s grip in her hair only enhanced everything. There was nothing in her brain but pleasure and warm emotion and it was incredibly good for so many reasons.
There was intense relief that he had been able to hold back until Roxy got there first, but Spence was momentarily distracted from his own orgasm by the sensation of her body pulsing around his. To call it heaven would have been an understatement. It sent shockwaves through his system and Spence found he couldn't hold back any longer. Grunting low in his throat, he thrust hard and fast a few more times before spilling inside of her. His entire body seemed to shiver with the intensity of it and Spence pressed his forehead to hers as he let it completely take over. "Fuck," he breathed, trying to keep his weight off of her as much as he could.
Those last few hard ones drove Roxy’s climax higher and she let out whines with every thrust, then groaned deep as she felt his cock pulse inside of her. She felt a vague, fleeting regret that she was on birth control, some deep instinct already aching to carry Spence’s baby. Maybe someday she would. For now it was good enough just to be there and feel this again. Roxy wrapped her legs tighter around him to hold him in deep, her nails trailing down his spine again, then back up into his hair. “Fuck yeah, so good,” she whispered, kissing the corner of his mouth. They were both breathing hard, but she already felt addicted to having her mouth on him. “Even better than I remembered.”
Breathing hard, Spence felt a soft laugh bubble up in his throat. Good was such an understatement as to how he felt. It was almost like he was purging all the bad stuff that had stuck in his head over the past few years. "I don't know that I'll ever move again," he said, kissing her properly now that most of the tremors in his body had faded. "You're pretty damn incredible." And she was. He hoped he was able to show her just how incredible he found her... tonight and in the immediate and far future. He wanted to show her what a healthy, loving relationship was. Spence knew it wouldn't be easy, but he was willing to dive into it headfirst, even the hard parts, as long as she was right there with him.
‘Damn incredible’ was way better than ‘good,’ Roxy had to agree. Her vocabulary just wasn’t up to par at the moment. She moved her hands to cup his bearded face as she kissed him again, deep and slow for a moment. “Stay here forever then,” she murmured softly against Spence’s mouth. The most practical part of Roxy was hesitant to make promises, aware that she had a bunch of internal damage and shit to slog through to be a good partner ... but that practical part was currently buried under alcohol and the afterglow. “I never stopped having feelings for you, you know that, right?”
Spence knew that their feelings could easily be colored by the afterglow of sex, but it certainly felt right to him at the moment. He would be more than happy to stay there forever, or at least for the rest of the night. Her body just felt so good against his and he hated that they would eventually have to part. Spence kissed her again before smiling softly. "I never stopped having feelings for you either. Breaking up with you was more... I dunno, trying to rationalize life than me not wanting to be with you anymore. I was probably s-shit at explaining it back then, but I was a dumbass."
Roxy gave him a soft smile, everything in her body feeling warm and glowy. It had taken her a long time to get over Spence, to feel like she wasn’t still in love with him. She’d finally wished him well in her heart and put it to bed ... funny how quickly that bed could catch fire again. Roxy didn’t want to tell him she loved him until she knew he trusted that she meant it, but god, she was feeling all of those strong emotions stirring again. “I think everybody’s a dumbass at that age,” Roxy murmured, idly stroking her fingertips through his beard. “But maybe it was for the best ... who knows if we would’ve lasted back then. Now we can ... not be dumbasses.” She tittered softly.
