Who: Jai & Neil Where: Dragonfly When: Monday evening 6/18 Warning: Turns NSFW
There were times when Neil felt like he had to be an alien. He so rarely understood human emotions and he certainly didn't feel like he had all of them himself. Things like love, desire, companionship and socializing weren't a part of his life and he preferred it that way. Except lately he'd found himself more intrigued by some of those things. Maybe it was all the upheaval in his life, he didn't really understand where it was all coming from. It had been a while since he found himself openly weeping over a romance novel in the library and he'd put that memory behind him, thankful nobody had seen him but sweet little Mak who'd been kind to him and not mocked him at all. Today however, he was feeling something similar. Some urge, some need to understand- and maybe even live some of the events other people seemed so obsessed with.
It was a bit complicated to think about it though, he didn't want to sweep someone off their feet - he wanted to be the one who got swept off his feet and the mere thought of that was terrifying. His feelings warred against one another all day and he ended up reading a romantic young adult book every chance he got at work until it was time to go home. He took it with him then, didn't even check it out because he didn't need anyone seeing the absolute trash he was so drawn to suddenly.
It was this urge and the emotions the book sparked in him that had him standing outside Dragonfly at around nine in the evening. It was not a place he ever went to and it felt foolish to think he might actually meet someone there, but maybe he was hoping for a reality check or to try to see how other people did it. If romance was real, someone would have swept him off his feet in a place he was actually comfortable in and he told himself that even as he opened the door to step inside.
He didn't know why but he calmed down a great deal as soon as he was inside. The atmosphere was comfortable, the music was not too loud or abrasive and there were far more people in there than he'd been expecting on a Monday night. Which was normally a bad thing, Neil didn't like crowds, but tonight it was soothing, like he could get lost in there. He didn't even think that this meant there was a higher possibility of there being people he knew, a lot were tourists and that was... Kind of exactly what he'd been hoping for.
Jai was a big fan of Dragonfly. There was a time and a place for dive bars, but Dragonfly had a great ambience about it and he always felt good when he was there. With Zach dating now, it made sense for Jai to get out and do something with his time rather than hang out at home alone, jerking off or playing video games. His manic extrovert of a brother would probably be proud of him. His hair was a bit wild but he had trimmed up his facial hair and wore a ridiculously colorful shirt. That was about as far as Jai went when it came to going out for the night. And he was on his second drink when he spotted someone vaguely familiar to him walking through the door.
It took Jai a second before he placed him as the librarian. Occasionally Jai was called to the library to help out their IT department which was woefully understaffed but consulting work paid well so he rarely minded. He and the librarian had never spoken face to face but Jai knew who he was. It looked like he was alone too and once Jai was sure that Neil wasn't looking around for someone he was supposed to meet, he turned back to the bartender to order a cocktail. While the bartender turned to get it ready, Jai turned back toward Neil, catching his eye and waving him over to the bar, as if they had made plans to meet there.
Neil had not been expecting anyone to actually greet him and for a second he felt like flailing, unsure what to do. He recognized Jai from work and vaguely remembered him from school but that didn't make them friends or even friendly. Still, it felt weird to stand there and not go over to see what he wanted and he found himself calmer than he usually would be in a situation like that, not even questioning whether Jai was about to pull a cruel prank on him or anything. "Drinking alone?" he asked as he sat down on the empty chair next to Jai's and that just made him wonder if he wanted a drink. He was much more of a weed guy if he did anything mind altering and he wouldn't even know what to order in a place like this.
Jai grinned when Neil actually headed in his direction. He wouldn't have been surprised if the guy had turned and booked it right back out the door, but maybe Neil was looking to make a new friend tonight too. "Not anymore," Jai replied with an easy smile. "I ordered you a drink. If you hate it, feel free to spit it out. Neil, right? I think we went to school together... but I've definitely seen you at the library." They hadn't been friends in school and Jai could only vaguely remember half the people who were in his classes. Maybe he'd smoked too much weed back then... and now. Not that it mattered. Small towns made this kind of thing a bit easier.
This would have made Neil very suspicious under different circumstances but with the magical good vibes of Dragonfly he only felt a little amused that Jai would assume to know what he might like. He glanced over to try to see what the bartender was stirring up but he couldn't really tell so he just hoped it was sweet. The invitation to spit it out might be on the table but he would never actually do that. "Yes, I'm Neil," he replied. "And you're our technology person at the library. Jai... Payne?" Jai had been one of those people at school who didn't really bother Neil. He was just there, they'd never really spoken and he wasn't one of the people Neil was so convinced had been bullying him.
Jai's grin widened. Wasn't it nice when people remembered who he was? Jai made himself known when he was in the mood for it, but his job was a pretty isolating one, only talking to people for a few minutes here and there while he went around town fixing shit. There were a lot of familiar faces, but Jai tended to remember them in various ways. Rarely could he recall full names, mostly because he hadn't cared enough to learn them. "I am Jai Payne. Your memory is hell of a lot better than mine. I don't think I've ever seen you here. What're you up to tonight?" He took a sip of his drink while the bartender finished up Neil's.
Neil made sure to know who the people coming to the library were. He wasn't sure what he was afraid they might do there to mess with his routine or the library itself, but his paranoia made him wary of anyone with access to the staff area. So yes, he knew the names of everyone who did any work for the library, but tonight the reason he remembered Jai's name felt a little different. He accepted the drink from the bartender with a wary little smile, then tried it and was relieved to find it was sweet and actually quite tasty. "Uhm," he murmured, not really sure what he was up to, really. He didn't understand it beyond that driving need to figure things out, to do something, get something. "Having a drink with you," he finally replied with a little shrug. "It's been a strange day. How about you?"
The dimple in Jai's cheek deepened when Neil tried his drink and seemed to enjoy it. He definitely wasn't a beer guy. "You're having a drink with me, and I'm having a drink with you," Jai said, turning his body to face Neil a bit more directly. He didn't remember much about Neil from high school but up close now Jai thought he was pretty good looking. And he definitely came across as the kind of guy who would probably blanch if Jai told him so. Not because he was a homophobe but because he probably had no clue what to do with compliments. "How's it been a strange day?"
Neil absolutely regretted saying that now and wondered why he had, he just felt relaxed in here, so much more at ease than he usually did in public spaces with too many people in them. "I'm not sure," he admitted. "I've been in a strange mood. Like I needed to try something new." He smiled faintly and took a small sip of his drink, idly stirring the funny looking straw in it. "Like this cocktail," he added, vaguely amused and a little perplexed. "I don't think we've ever really spoken before." In fact he was sure of that because he rarely spoke to anyone if he could help it.
Jai cocked a brow suggestively but bit back the urge to make a vocal innuendo about what Neil could try. His gaze glanced at the drink in Neil's hand. "I had a feeling you'd probably go for something sweet," he said. "Sometimes you can look at someone and know what kind of drinks they'd enjoy. Among other things." Okay, so maybe he couldn't really turn off the flirtatiousness. Probably because he didn't really want to. Jai gestured at Neil with his own glass. "But no, I don't think we've talked before, at least not about anything meaningful. That doesn't mean I haven't thought about it before, when I've seen you at the library. But you usually have this... leave me alone expression." Jai grinned. "You didn't look like that walking into this place tonight, though."
On any normal day it would have mortified Neil to hear that he had been perceived this way, that someone had not only noticed him but considered talking to him as well. He did his best to be invisible and unapproachable so Jai was right about that expression. Tonight though, he felt a little giddy that Jai had wanted to talk to him before. He gave Jai an awkward smile that he quickly hid by drinking more. "I usually... like tea," he mumbled. "But this is good." That wasn't to say he never drank, he just never drank cocktails or strong spirits and it occurred to him he had know way of knowing just how strong this drink was. "Did you want to talk about something meaningful?" he asked then. "At the library?"
Jai's grin widened. He couldn't help it. Neil was clearly someone who didn't go to bars often. Or even speak to people, really. His uncertainty came off of him in waves, but Jai didn't mind it. He found it kind of cute, to be honest. "Tea, I'll remember that next time, if you're not in the mood for alcohol." Scratching a bit at the facial hair at his jaw, Jai considered Neil's question before huffing out a small laugh. "Something meaningful... well... I mean, I probably would have tried to flirt with you. And then if that got me anywhere, I'd be happy to talk about anything. I don't get a lot of meaningful conversation when I come to this place. That's not always a bad thing, depending on what I'm looking for."
Neil was visibly surprised by that admission and he wondered if Jai was just making fun of him but in the mood he was in, that felt unlikely. Rather than feel paranoid, he just felt weirdly flattered and even more so weirdly hopeful. Not that he had any idea how to respond, feeling a little flustered and smiling awkwardly. It took him a few seconds to find the words, working his lips to try to say something eloquent but all that came out was, "You like flirting with everyone?" Did Neil even know how to flirt? He was pretty sure nobody had ever flirted with him except as a joke, a mean spirited high schooler back in the day had asked him to prom and he'd shut that down very quickly because it was obviously a joke. Bitch. This felt different though, he was a grown man in a bar and... Jai the tech guy was apparently flirting with him.
Jai liked to tease on occasion, but he never did it maliciously. To him, teasing was always meant to be in good fun. If it wasn't, then it wasn't teasing, it was being an asshole. And sure, he had his assholish moments but he liked to think they were few and far between. "I don't like to flirt with everyone," Jai said with a laugh. "Just people that I wanna flirt with. You flirt with people you're not attracted to then it gives the wrong message, right? And I don't wanna do that. I think it's hard to flirt in a library, you know, because you've got to be quiet and all that. I wouldn't want someone shushing me if I was trying to get a phone number."
"You don't have to be quiet in a library," Neil said with a little titter, somewhat thankful he could grasp a topic he knew something about to distract himself from everything Jai just said about flirting. With him. How did he even handle something like that? "I'd love it if libraries were still quiet places but the role has changed lately, it's more of a community get together location, we even have live music sometimes. Which- depending, I guess, can be nice. But it makes it hard to work sometimes." He laughed again, this time more out of embarrassment for talking so much but it was hard to feel that emotion in any sort of bad way. "I'm not- I don't usually flirt with people."
Jai's eyes widened. "What? Are you serious? In high school I was always getting in trouble for talking in the library. I just assumed all libraries were like that. Music in a library. Who would've thought?" He laughed into his glass before taking another drink. He didn't mind Neil talking at all. That was the whole point of this, wasn't it? Unless Neil had been hoping to come in and drink and not be approached by anyone, but it was way too late for that. He was nearly finished with his drink now and Jai set the glass down, studying Neil with barely concealed amusement. "It's okay if you don't flirt with people. A lot of people aren't worth flirting with. Are you seeing anyone now?"
Neil wondered if 'I'm seeing you' was a flirt or just a very misguided and easily twisted sentiment. Either way was not what he wanted to do so he bit his tongue on that and shook his head. Jai did not need to know that he'd never 'seen' anyone, he knew very well that it was considered pretty weird by societal standards - he just usually didn't care. Apparently he did tonight, like he'd missed a milestone along the way and worse yet, something possibly important. "Are you?" he asked and god, that felt forward, like he'd said something in a foreign language while not entirely sure about its meaning.
Jai more or less expected Neil to say no but he was still pleased when he did. That meant there was maybe some possibility of a hookup before the end of the night. Then again, Neil might have just been there to have a drink because it had been a strange day, as he called it earlier. Jai shook his head at Neil's question. Sure, he thought about Zach, but that was completely different in so many ways. "No, not me. It's been a long time since I've done anything like that."
Neil on the other hand was surprised to hear that, especially the long time part, and he looked at Jai curiously. Romance was such a weird thing to him, it seemed like everyone should be having dalliances left and right - or at least wanting to - and he'd never wanted any part of that game. Until now, apparently. At the very least he wanted to understand it, to be able to say he'd gotten a taste. "Did you just not want to?" he asked, not considering that this was a question he would not want to answer for himself.
Jai scrunched up his nose thoughtfully for a moment before shrugging. "I guess that was part of it. When you're dating someone, you've gotta put a lot of yourself into it, right? You have to make an effort. And I guess I've always felt like I needed to meet the right person. Otherwise I'm just half-assing it and if I'm half-assing it, I'm going to lose interest real fast... or they are, understandably so." He knew Zach was also part of the reason why he hadn't really felt the need to "date" anyone. It was a whole mess of things in Jai's head, but it hadn't really bothered him all that much because there hadn't been anyone he wanted to spend a lot of time with outside of his brother. "Does that make me sound like a lazy asshole?" Jai asked, cockin a dark brow and grinning.
Neil didn't really know how much truth was in that but he supposed that made sense. No wonder he normally didn't want to date anyone, it just seemed like a hassle. Tonight he wasn't sure what he wanted, a taste, a feeling, an understanding perhaps. There was no logic to it, he just wanted without really knowing what it was he was craving so hard. "It sounds logical," he said with a shrug. "Most people aren't worth investing in, I can count on the fingers of one hand the people I actually like." It did dispel any notion that this might be the guy who swept him off his feet, but had he really expected to find that tonight? Did he even want that? Did he even know what that meant?
Jai had never really been known to sweep anyone off their feet. He wasn't sure he would know how to do that even if he wanted to. It wasn't something he had practice in, to say the least. He wasn't even sure anyone had ever expected it from him though. If they had they certainly hadn't said so to his face and sometimes Jai needed people to be blunt about their feelings. Sometimes. "Where do I land on the hand?" Jai asked, glancing down the hand Neil was holding his drink with. "Maybe the pinky? Or should I be asking what I can do to have a shot at maybe finding myself on the second hand? If all five fingers on hand number one are taken."
Neil wasn't honestly sure if all fingers were taken or not. Did Jane make the list of people he liked? She did and she didn't, it was complicated. She was a friend, so he supposed she did. "You might have to settle for my other hand," he said with a little titter, though it remained to be seen if he did like Jai. He didn't dislike him, which with Neil was an excellent start, but that could change in a heartbeat. "But you might also have to work for the spot." He felt awfully cheeky. Had he ever felt cheeky before? The alcohol was making his neck feel warm and he kind of felt like laughing and drinking a whole lot more.
Jai chuckled. "I'm okay with the other hand. It's all about making the top ten, yeah?" Leaning one elbow against the bar top, he grinned, feeling a bit flushed himself. That probably meant he shouldn't order another drink, even though he wanted to. Still, no need to get sloppy drunk when there was the potential for company. And Jai wasn't sure if Neil was someone who could hold his liquor. The last thing he wanted is for both of them to get sloppy drunk. "I'm also okay with working for a spot. What is it you're looking for? Friendship bracelets? Late night sleepovers?" And yes, he meant whatever that suggested.
It was such a good question, and yet such a terrible question to be asked. What was Neil looking for? He wasn't looking for friendship, never had been, he wasn't really looking for a relationship either, he'd been pretty content just spending his time alone with his books until his life got turned upside down yet again. He thought about it, grinning faintly as he made a show of really contemplating it. "You bought me a drink, so that's a good start," he said then and god, had he smiled this much in one night before? There was something in the way Jai was looking at him that made him feel weird but not necessarily in a bad way. On some level he knew he was acting out of character but he just couldn't bring himself to care. "Do you do a lot of late night sleepovers?" he asked, meeting Jai's gaze without that damn smile faltering.
"I'll buy you all the drinks you want," Jai offered, chuckling. He wasn't sure he had ever seen Neil smile at the library, but... the guy worked at a library, so that wasn't terribly surprising. The guy was pretty cute and Jai knew for a fact he was likely someone who didn't realize it. Neil would probably blush or get uncomfortably shy if Jai told him so. Even so, there was always something intriguing about getting to know someone new, even if it was just physically. But hell, even if that didn't happen tonight, he was still enjoying talking to Neil. "I don't do a lot of late night sleepovers," Jai said, his grin widening. "But I've done enough to know how much fun they can be."
It wasn't really the 'sweeping off his feet' gesture Neil had been thinking about, but 'all the drinks you want' made him feel a little warmer somehow and it came pretty close to being exactly what he wanted. He wasn't a heavy drinker by any means so Jai's wallet was safe, but it was the sentiment that counted. "I've never had a fun sleepover," Neil admitted and while the truth was he hadn't had any of the sort Jai was actually talking about, he wasn't eager to divulge that information. He didn't know what the consensus was on lack of experience, some people made it seem like a chore to deal with but the romance novels he'd been so shamefully indulging in made it seem romantic and kind of hot. Neil didn't want to be the blushing virgin though, he didn't like the concept at all and it was stupid that not having done one activity could somehow define a person. Yet tonight he was really curious about it all and not terribly eager to stay a virgin. "So I'm not really sure how much fun they can be."
Jai cocked a dark brow. "That's a shame. I think everyone ought to experience at least one fun sleepover in their lifetime." He really had no idea if Neil meant he had never had a "sleepover" or never had a "fun" sleepover... maybe his experiences had been disappointing. Jai wasn't really sure but he was feeling buzzed at the moment so his brain wasn't necessarily cooperating with him. Suddenly Jai felt more than a little eager to try and get Neil to come home with him. Or go home with Neil. It was probably a bad idea, as so many of these things were lately, but the guy was cute as fuck and his cheeks were all pink from the alcohol and Jai wondered in a very vague way if the guy had ever even kissed someone. Maybe that was the whole librarian stereotype getting stuck in his head - virginal and dull - but Neil didn't seem dull, at least. Jai studied him before his lips twitched. "Do you think maybe you came to Dragonfly tonight looking for that kind of fun?"
"No," Neil blurted out with a slightly startled laughter, but that wasn't true and the self conscious smile that followed said as much. "Maybe. I don't know. I don't know anything today." He took another sip of his drink and realized this was probably how people got sloppy drunk; they got flustered and drank more than they wanted to or needed to. He finally understood. That didn't make him put the drink down, he didn't care if he got sloppy drunk, he'd never been that kind of intoxicated and that seemed like such a human thing to do. Was he even human? God he wanted to be, at least tonight. There were so many ways this could end and they all kind of scared him; ending up alone at home, ending up kissing Jai and hating it, ending up doing more... God, that one scared him the most but that fear felt so far away and inconsequential. He would never admit to this on a normal night, he had to have an 'out' just in case Jai was just messing with him, a clear cut way to tell him that he hadn't been interested at all in the first place! For some reason that just didn't worry him right now, Jai was flirting with him, he might kiss him and Neil didn't care if someone saw it, it was literally giving him that rare feeling of butterflies in his stomach.
Jai laughed, liking the way that Neil's cheeks seemed to get even pinker the more he drank and the longer they talked. He honestly had no idea if Neil was interested in guys, but he was definitely getting that vibe. It also felt like maybe Neil's love life hadn't been all that memorable and that was okay with Jai too. "That's okay," he said, "I don't know anything most days, so you're in good company. You want another drink?" Jai wasn't going to try and get Neil drunk because it was a hell of a lot more fun to try and kiss someone when they were mostly sober. Neil might freak out or run away, but that was okay, at least then Jai would know he was just being friendly tonight. Then again, maybe Neil would like it and they could both enjoy that for a while too.
"Yes, thank you," Neil murmured with a slightly goofy smile. Jai might not want to get him drunk, but Neil wanted to be drunk, feeling like every sip he took just made this social interaction easier and, if he was honest with himself, it gave him an excuse to act as stupid as he wanted to act tonight. That was another very human thing to do. wasn't it? Blame alcohol for any dumb mistake and bitch about it the next day? "I can buy you one," he added. "Or is that a faux pas?" Guys bought girls drinks, that was the social cue at least. What about guys? Was he the girl in this equation? Did he want to be? He kind of did, he realized, whatever that really meant. It felt nice to be a little pampered and flirted with, new and exciting.
Jai straightened against the bar to catch the attention of the bartender, gesturing to Neil's drink. Then he turned back to Neil, grinning again. "It's not a faux pas, but I've had a few drinks already tonight. If I have another I may try to take advantage of you." Maybe that was a bit more forward than their subtle flirting but Jai didn't care. Neil was cute and he seemed so... out of place here, in a strange way. Jai was trying to place Neil the Librarian in place of Neil of Dragonfly. They seemed to be two completely different people, although Jai was aware he didn't really know Neil. Work-faces could be completely different than who people really were.
"I would have thought the more sober person was the one taking advantage," Neil replied, momentarily getting caught in the logistics of the statement before realizing what Jai was really saying. He blushed again and finished what was left of his first drink so that he could give the bartender the empty glass before accepting a new one. "I wouldn't want you to do anything you regret," he murmured with a coy smile, giving Jai a little side eye. No, he definitely wanted to at least kiss him. He'd never kissed anyone, it was definitely time to see what the fuss was about, he just had no idea how to move from joking around like this to actually kissing. Did they have to go somewhere else? Could he just lean over and try? No, definitely not. The idea of doing that and getting rejected was more mortifying than anything he could think of at the moment.
"I rarely do things I regret," Jai said, even if that wasn't necessarily true. Living in the moment came with a lot of regret. But live and learn, right? He could tell, even from Neil's obvious awkwardness, that he was into Jai. Even if only from a curiosity standpoint, with a drink in his hand. Jai slid in closer to Neil, his arms still on the bar top. It was a casual lean, but it seemed to cut out some of the noise from the rest of the place. "Like, right now? I have this overwhelming urge to kiss you and I don't think for a damn second I'd regret it." Neil might blanch and move away. Or maybe he'd be into it. Jai definitely thought he'd be into it, but that didn't mean he'd want to do it here. Not everyone was into PDA.
It was easy to forget the public part of this meeting when Jai was so close, especially with what he was saying, and Neil quirked a little smile and turned in his seat just enough to face him better. "Only one way to find out?" he said and while it didn't come out quite as smoothly as he wanted it to, it didn't sound terribly stupid either so that was a win in his mind. This whole thing felt so alien to him, he wasn't even sure why he wanted to kiss Jai, just that he looked kind of pretty and his voice was nice and it was an opportunity Neil had never had before - had never allowed himself to have, but tonight he was letting go for the first time and while he didn't have the guts to lean in and kiss Jai, he'd made himself more available and that alone felt huge.
"Only one way to find out," Jai agreed with a murmur. He didn't care about the public-ness of it all. He'd kissed people in public. He'd done more than that too. Coming to Dragonfly tonight, he hadn't really expected to end up kissing the librarian but here he was. Point Pleasant might have been a small ass town but it remained forever unpredictable. Neil didn't pull away when Jai leaned in to kiss him and for that, Jai was grateful. He hadn't kissed anyone who wasn't Zach in quite sometime and Neil was cute and slightly awkward and that was more endearing than it was off putting. He certainly had really nice lips and Jai wanted to enjoy them while he could.
Neil was just amazed that he was doing this, he was actually kissing someone, someone was kissing him who wasn't family and the kiss wasn't unwanted. Jai had very soft lips - maybe everyone did, for all he knew - and they fit pretty perfectly against Neil's lips and that was actually really cool and not as gross as he once thought it had to be to kiss someone. In actuality it was kind of nice, but then everything felt nice tonight and he barely believed he'd actually gotten to try the one thing he'd been so set on trying.
It was always a bit thrilling to kiss someone new. The experience wasn't always worth it, but Jai didn't think he would ever get over that fluttery anticipation that surged in his gut right before two mouths met for the first time. Neil felt just the tiniest bit tentative but that was okay. Jai parted his lips just slightly, instinctively knowing better than to just glomp onto the guy's face, or even use his tongue just yet. Alcohol and good feelings were already pulsing through his blood and kissing a cute guy was only intensifying those sensations.
One of the things Neil had never really factored in about kissing was feeling someone's else's stubble against his own and Jai had some scruff going that looked good on him and felt a little weird. Not in a bad way, but it was definitely a reminder that Neil was kissing a man and he wondered if he'd enjoy it as much if it was a woman. It'd be softer, he was sure, but he didn't know if he'd care for it or not. He wasn't even sure why he liked this, it went against the way he'd sworn to himself he wasn't interested in this sort of intimacy and he could barely grasp at this moment just how confusing this was going to be. He was aware on some level that this might be the only time he'd ever do this and his curiosity and greed was overriding his hesitation, urging him to make the most of it and memorize every bit of it. He felt bold enough to reach up and touch Jai's hair and decided he liked the way it felt against his skin, tangling around his fingers as he gripped the back of Jai's head.
Jai's own mind was blissfully free of doubts and analysis. He just liked the way Neil's lips felt against his own and how his fingers had pushed their way into Jai's hair. It had been a while since he'd kissed anyone who wasn't Zach and first kisses, even first kisses in bars, always made his stomach feel wonderfully tingly and tight. The way Neil responded to Jai prompted him to part his lips just a little, resisting the urge to use his tongue just yet, since Neil still felt a little... skittish, for lack of a better term. He didn't want to get too aggressive and scare the guy off. This might just be a kiss and nothing more and Jai was more than okay with that, even if his dick disagreed.
It was Neil who deepened the kiss and he might have felt a little proud of himself for being so bold if he wasn't so thoroughly preoccupied with what they were doing. It felt right, parting his lips and licking tentatively at Jai's lips, tracing them slowly and feeling the texture of them until he felt Jai's tongue meet his own. That was most definitely weird, but not in a bad way. Whatever Jai had been drinking didn't clash with what Neil had been drinking, which was something that felt very important to him. Maybe he'd been drinking the same thing, did it matter? It tasted good on his tongue even if the feel of another tongue was quite bizarre to experience.
As soon as Neil parted his lips, Jai could feel his cock starting to really stir. The way Neil deepened the kiss felt like permission somehow, that Jai could stop holding back and kiss Neil the way he really wanted to. He brought his hand up to smooth his thumb along Neil's jaw, liking how smooth his skin was. He tasted good too and if they hadn't been sitting at the bar, he might have let his hands roam more boldly. Maybe they could go somewhere private. The bathroom... no, Neil wasn't a bathroom kind of guy. Outside? His car? Jai couldn't really stop the low groan in his throat the longer his tongue stroked against Neil's. Everything was becoming so pleasantly hot.
Neil had read enough trashy romance and soft erotica by now that he knew this was escalating and where it might be headed. For a moment he had a near-sobering reminder that he did not want to get naked in front of anyone, not with the weird electrical scars he had on his torso, but then wasn't that exactly the plot of one of the stories he'd read today? A dark secret, guilt and shame. How come those feelings were so delicious when they were fictional and yet so awful for real? It also meant he knew he didn't have to take his clothes off if he didn't want to and he wondered if the thought of letting some guy see his dick should be freaking him out as much but it wasn't. He should be allowed to experience all of this, he was no less worthy of physical pleasure than anyone else, damn it! He really wasn't a bathroom kind of guy, Jai was right about that, but he also didn't want to take Jai home with him or go to his place, that felt too vulnerable somehow and - if he was honest - not urgent enough. "Go to the bathroom," he whispered, feeling emboldened by his thoughts and his stories. "I'll be right behind you."
While Jai had read plenty of trashy things in his life, he had never actually read a romance novel. His mind was focused solely on Neil's lips and his own arousal pooling deep and hot in his belly and all the things he wanted to do with both. When Neil mentioned the bathroom, Jai opened his eyes, somewhat surprised, but not unpleasantly so. Grinning, Jai nodded and pulled away. Neil might just be trying to find a way to disappear without having to tell Jai face to face, but Jai felt like he had a pretty good read on people, and he was betting Neil would be right behind him. So he headed through the bar to the bathrooms, relieved to find them empty.
This gave Neil plenty of time to change his mind and on some level of his consciousness he knew he probably should, but he felt greedy and entitled to finding out what all of this fuss was about so he quieted that already meak voice as he finished his drink, then got up off his chair. His feet felt a little wobbly, it was so different from being high and he'd only ever really felt the vaguely sleepy effects of alcohol. It felt nice, like he wasn't quite in charge and so he wasn't quite responsible, or maybe that was just something he'd heard and internalized. It didn't really matter. He found himself in the bathroom less than a minute later, probably too soon at that but he had no clue what the etiquette for this was. As long as the bartender didn't come in after them, furious.
Jai was relieved that Neil didn't hesitate too long, otherwise he might have started worrying that the guy was seriously going to ghost him. As soon as Neil stepped into the bathroom, Jai reached behind him to lock the door before pulling Neil in close, moving to kiss him again. Dragonfly was busy enough that they probably didn't have a lot of time to linger, but it was also busy enough that no one would hear them. He hoped. Getting arrested for indecent exposure or whatever would suck, though he could practically hear Zach laughing in his head. Not that he was thinking about Zach at the moment. He was thinking about Neil, tasting and touching and gods, his cock was hard and desperate for attention.
Never in a million years would Neil have thought he'd hook up with a guy in a bathroom of any sort but here he was, and he couldn't say he was hating it. Some part of him that wanted to linger and explore wished he had taken Jai home instead but the urgency was good, the feeling like they didn't have time before someone needed to come in, possibly getting them into trouble. He didn't know why he liked that, it went against the whole of his nature, but for some reason, tonight it turned him on. Jai's hair was soft in his grip as he clasped his head and that rush of blood to his cock didn't feel anything like it normally did, like a thing he needed to take care of and wanted to go away. He wanted more of it now, wanted to make it last even as his mind was somewhat frantically telling him to hurry. He wondered if Jai felt the same way, if he was hard and while he hadn't quite gathered the courage to reach down to check, pressing up against his body gave him the answer he was looking for.
This wasn't Jai's first bathroom hookup and it probably wouldn't be his last as long as he didn't get caught. He hadn't yet, which was a weird source of pride for him. Neil was definitely turned on and Jai groaned when the guy pressed against Jai's own crotch, his cock jerking in his jeans, eager for attention. Well aware of where they were, Jai moved to press Neil up against the wall, his hand slipping between them to start undoing Neil's pants. He wanted to get his hand inside, to touch bare skin and see just how unhinged he could make Neil before this whole thing was over. The guy always seemed a little... uptight. Quiet. Jai had a feeling there was a lot of repressed heat beneath the exterior, and he wanted to see it.
Neil might have laughed if he could read Jai's thoughts. There was in his mind no repressed heat there, he liked it lukewarm and familiar and he never saw the appeal in sexual things, almost taking pride in the fact that he was uptight. Until tonight apparently, because feeling Jai's hand start to free his cock made him feel all sorts of crazy things he'd never thought himself capable of. This guy wanted to touch his dick and Neil was going to let him and probably touch his dick in turn and it was making his mind reel. He couldn't even find it in himself to feel self conscious about it, not while Jai's tongue was stroking his own, their lips mashed together like they were made for it. It damn near took his breath away when Jai's fingers found their mark, wrapping around his cock, warm and softer than Neil had expected for some reason. It felt a little alien, having someone else touch him like this and he wondered only momentarily if Jai even knew how to touch him. Maybe stroking a dick was just a universal thing, he'd never really thought about how he did it for himself.
Jai liked to think he knew how to touch another person, at least well enough to bring them pleasure. But he'd had his own fair share of duds when it came to sex, so he knew on some level he may send Neil away disappointed. He hoped he wouldn't and he certainly had enough confidence to believe he'd blow the guy's mind before they parted ways. Groaning as he released Neil's cock from his pants, Jai ducked his head to kiss Neil's neck, biting gently at his skin as his hand began to stroke him slowly. He wanted to do so much more than that, but it never hurt to let Neil get used to what they were doing before Jai sunk to his knees.
Something changed for Neil when Jai's teeth graced his neck because that was something he'd never imagined correctly and it felt... kind of amazing? It took his breath away even more than Jai's hand on his cock did and when he breathed again it was shaky and loud. This was something he couldn't do alone, it'd be a terrible thing to get addicted to, but he couldn't really worry about that right now, too engrossed in what was happening. He hadn't meant to close his eyes, it just happened automatically as he melted into the sensations. Jai knew how to touch him, he felt ill equipped to return the favor but he didn't really know what to do with his hands other than cling to Jai so he moved one between them to rub at the hard bulge in Jai's pants.
Jai didn't mind at all that Neil wasn't shoving his hand down Jai's pants. He kind of liked being the aggressor here, getting Neil to breathe like that and press against his body, like he needed more. Jai had always loved physical pleasure and getting off, but he was finding he might be okay with walking out of the bathroom with an intense hardon. If he got Neil to come, it might be worth it. Lifting his head from Neil's neck, Jai kissed him again, hard and needy, before he shoved Neil's pants down just enough to fully release his cock. This wasn't the time or place to get naked, unfortunately, but he could work with this. Grinning briefly against Neil's mouth, Jai lowered himself to his knees, not giving Neil much of a chance to react before he drew Neil's cock into his mouth.
Neil almost stopped him, not because he didn't want this but because it meant he didn't really know what to do with his hands again now that Jai's arms had slipped out of his grasp. He barely had time to consider what was about to happen before his cock was enveloped by slick heat and it made him wonder if he could ever be satisfied with his hand alone again. Jai's hot breath on his skin and the way his lips pressed around his cock as he took him deeper was making Neil's mind reel and inhaled sharply and held his hands still for a moment before he could think what to do with them. Jai's hair. That seemed logical, not that he was operating on a very logical frequency right now because there was a guy sucking his dick and there was nothing logical about that. He dug his fingers into Jai's thick hair, tangling them in the unruly locks and staring down at where his hands - his hands - were on Jai's head. He wondered why he'd never done this before while simultaneously knowing exactly why and feeling unsure he'd ever do this again but damn, right now he didn't regret it. It was an experience unlike anything else and Jai didn't seem to think there was anything wrong with his dick or his body, he looked pretty relaxed right where he was and that was a trip all on its own.
Regret was something that was rarely found in Jai's vocabulary. He tended to do whatever it was that he wanted and he loved living that way. Knowing that Zach was out there, doing the same thing, only made Jai want this more. The pressure of Neil's fingers in his hair drew a groan from Jai's throat and his own hands slid around to the back of Neil's thighs, just below his ass. Right now he just wanted Neil to enjoy himself, to do whatever felt natural, if that was possible for him in a public bathroom. Jai tended to fool around with people wherever he could, but he got the feeling Neil was a bit more uptight about that stuff. Then again, maybe now, because look at where they were now. Jai drew Neil in deeper, quickening the pacing of his rhythm, moaning around Neil's cock as he sucked him a bit harder.
It became pretty evident pretty fast that Neil was not going to last long and he supposed that should have been embarrassing, but the pace at which his pleasure ramped up just felt indulgent and good, more intense than he was used to. It was usually just a nice release but tonight everything seemed to feel more intense - or maybe he was just letting himself relax into it all. Fast was probably good in a place like this too, someone might try to get in at any moment. This should have freaked him out but it just added to that heat pooling in his center, like a dash of anxiety only added flavor, spicing things up. He bit his lip and choked back his moans, his muscles tensing up until he had a hard time stopping himself from doubling over and curling up in on himself. This'd probably be fifty times better lying down but he'd take this as it was, rushed and hot and a little dirty. He let go of Jai's hair to cover his mouth, muffling the moans that escaped him when he came, losing sense of time and place for a moment.
Jai's fingers tightened on Neil and a sharp thrill surged through him when he felt the hot, salty liquid hit the back of his throat. Fuck, that was good. He swallowed easily and waited until Neil had relaxed some, still moving his tongue around to taste as much as he could be he pulled back. Licking his lips, Jai grinned and stood, keeping his body close to Neil's though trying not to crowd him too much. "That okay?" he murmured, though he was already pretty sure of the answer. They had been in there longer than they probably should have, but Jai was okay with that. They could take another minute, just to make sure Neil could walk out without falling over.
Neil let out a weak little laugh at the question. Was that okay? He shook his head in amusement, blinking a few times. "That was... Good." It was a massive understatement but it didn't really feel right to start gushing about how mind altering and amazing it had been. He was still reeling too and all the words that came to mind to capture his feelings came from terrible romance novels and should probably never be spoken out loud by anyone. "I don't think I'm that good at this," he added with a faint smile. "But I can try." It wasn't something he'd ever wanted to do but it felt right in the moment and whatever the hell was in the air was making even the thought of kneeling in a bathroom not too threatening. He thought he might prefer sitting on the toilet though, it'd be easier and more comfortable and on some level he recognized just how sordid even considering it was but it just didn't seem to matter.
Good. Jai grinned, glancing down at Neil's lips again. He would take good. While his cock was aching in his jeans, Jai knew their time was limited and he could sense some of Neil's nerves now that the orgasmic high was fading. "You don't have to--" He was cut off by someone trying to get into the bathroom. Grimacing at the interruption, Jai realized he would probably be going home to take care of his problem alone. And that was a damn shame because Jai could only imagine how amazing Neil's lips would look around his cock. "Looks like our time’s up," Jai murmured before pressing a quick, hard kiss to Neil's mouth. "Maybe I'll run into you again."
"What? No-" Neil blurted out before he could think, stopping himself mid sentence. The rattling of the door knob had that post-orgasmic relaxation fading far faster than it would have otherwise but he only felt a fraction of the anxiety he normally would have felt in situations like this one. He could barely believe he felt disappointed this was over., did he want to give Jai a blow job? That was insane. Everything about tonight was insane! Just, not in a bad way. He felt giddy at least. "I'm sure you will," he murmured, barely suppressing a grin. He wanted to see him again, he wanted to do this again and maybe something more. Get even more drunk and spend hours just kissing and licking and doing all sorts of things he could barely even articulate.
There was an intense urge to ask Neil to come home with him, but he had no idea if Zach would be there and honestly, he wasn't even sure Neil would say yes. Jai wasn't usually one to worry about rejection, so he chalked it up to the liquor in his system. The door rattled again, prompting Jai to roll his eyes. Fucking impatient people. Returning his attention to Neil, Jai cocked a brow, keeping him close, just because. "You want my number?" Jai figured with Neil it would be a better option to give him the option to call if he wanted.
The rattling of the door should have had Neil rushing to go but he wasn't for some reason, maybe because Jai was pressed in close and he smelled so damn good. It didn't make sense and it didn't really have to. Did he want his number? Yes, decidedly yes. Would he dare call him? Ever? Probably not, if he was being real with himself, but in this moment he was almost sure he would. Maybe not call, maybe just a casual text, anything to get more of this. He grinned back, his stomach all aflutter as he fumbled in his pocket for his phone and then handed it to Jai.
Jai's grin widened when Neil pulled out his phone. Anyone else might have just opened up the contacts to put in his information, but instead he sent himself a text from Neil's phone. A second later the phone in his back pocket dinged with the message. "There, now I've got yours too," Jai said, offering Neil his phone back. He would probably still let Neil reach out first, but it was good to have the option to make a move if Jai really wanted to. Which he probably would. "You good?" Jai asked before pressing another kiss to Neil's lips. He didn't want to go in deep or anything, in case Neil was one of those guys put off by kissing after a blow job.
"I'm good," Neil murmured, a little flustered but smiling. There was a tug in his mind that he should drag Jai home with him for more but the door knob rattled again and he couldn't help but worry it was someone he recognized. Or worse yet, who recognized him. Whoever it was was going to know what was going on as soon as they walked out of there and it was as exciting as it was mortifying. He didn't think he could just go sit by the bar again, like everyone in Dragonfly would know. It didn't exactly bother him at the moment but there was that urge to disappear in a haze of mystery after something like this so he knew he was heading out as soon as he left the bathroom. "I should get going," he murmured, stealing another little kiss from Jai. "Are you good?"
Was he good? Jai was about to go home with a major case of blue balls. But this particular encounter was still oddly satisfying even if he hadn’t gotten off. He could always go home and jerk off, which is probably what he would end up doing. “Yeah, I’m good,” Jai said with a smile. “For now anyway. Don’t be a stranger.” He let go of Neil and turned to unlock the bathroom door so they could leave it. There was a guy standing there waiting but Jai ignored him, a faint smirk of his lips. So what if people knew what they had been doing in there? He doubted they’d been the first.
Neil ducked out after him, just barely keeping himself from hiding his face as he did. It was nobody he knew and he thought it might even just be some tourist which was ideal, really. Neil thought the guy gave them a very disapproving look but it just made him feel like giving him the finger and laughing so that was a weird feeling. Most feelings were weird tonight though so he let it go. He didn't follow Jai to the bar but gave him a coy little smile before leaving him behind. When he stepped outside there was still that small tug in his mind, telling him to go back inside and ask Jai to come home with him. It felt too insane though and on some level he was sure he'd enjoy this encounter more if it ended where it had. Going back in might sour the experience, Jai might not be interested in more or Neil might find he himself didn't want the more he seemed to be so interested in at the moment. No, going home and enjoying what had happened seemed by far the best bet so he grinned to himself as he started walking away, feeling far too light headed to drive home but that was okay, the weather was really nice and the walk would probably help clear his mind a little.
