Re: Mila, Aaron and Shae
Mila arched a brow, trying to imagine Charlie having such a conversation. But it was entirely possible. She was a teacher so wasn't it part of her DNA to encourage? Mila had no idea how much it would cost to rent a place and do whatever it was Shan wanted to do, but it also wasn't something she had to worry about. Shan was Caden's problem... well, wife. She looked over at Aaron, not terribly surprised that he would encourage it too. It didn't upset her at least and her lips twitched briefly with amusement. "I was terrible at rope climbing in gym class, so I doubt I'd be able to do anything more complicated with a pole." Not to mention her belly seemed to be getting bigger every freaking day so doing much of anything was going to be impossible soon enough. "You'd probably get plenty of interest though," Mila said after a moment, because she didn't want to ruin the day for Charlie, who Mila was sure wanted everyone to get along.
Shan clucked her tongue and shook her head a little. “That’s what everyone says, but there’s a lot you can do on a pole without climbing it,” she said. “Even just learning how to use it as a prop and dance around it can be sexy and empowering.” Shan gave Aaron a sidelong glance, smirking. She wasn’t trying to talk Mila specifically into taking a class or anything, she was just constantly weary of hearing the same crap from women every time the subject came up. They were all stronger than they knew, and it was frustrating when they dismissed the idea out of hand due to insecurity. Shan’s eyes ticked down to Mila’s stomach, which didn’t really look big to her yet, but there was definitely a preggo-roundness to it. “Not right now, obviously,” Shan added with another smile. “Safety first. Congratulations, by the way, when are you due?” She didn’t honestly care, but she was trying to play nice too, and pregnant women hated it when you ignored the fact that they were pregnant.
Mila could just imagine how she might look trying to dance against a pole. She wasn't sure she had the courage to even try, in all honesty. Maybe she could do it but she certainly didn't think she had the proper coordination either. Mila knew Aaron had been to Cherries before and would probably go there for his bachelor party - would he want Mila trying that kind of dance or strip tease? Sipping her drink, she saw the way Shan glanced at her stomach. She was getting used to people looking and asking questions and Mila was polite enough to smile and answer. They didn't need to know that deep down she was terrified that acknowledging the pregnancy with people outside of the family might somehow jinx it. It was irrational, but she couldn't help it. Mila supposed Shan was part of the family now, but she was still a stranger. "Thanks. I'm due in October." She felt her heart starting to beat a little faster, and harder, in her chest and she looked desperately to Aaron, not entirely sure what she needed from him. Being asked when she was due shouldn't trigger a panic attack but it wasn't like her brain was always cooperative.
