Re: Addie & Zach
Addie knew it was probably silly to look at two attractive men and think they'd have gorgeous babies, but she did it often. She did it a lot tonight too, since Toby seemed to have a lot of gorgeous guy friends dating other gorgeous guys. "Oh god, I want a dog so bad," she whined. "Like, a big dog that would knock me over if it jumped on me, right? Where people think I'm walking a horse down the street instead... I can't remember what kind of dog that is, but I know it exists. I thought about a cat, but they're not as playful as dogs once they grow out of their kitten phase, right? And any cat of mine would just lay there and judge me, I know it. Or sneak downstairs and like, curl up and sleep on a body I haven't embalmed yet!" Addie shivered at the thought. "Cats love dead people, I bet. But I think I could work with puppy godmom. I'd puppysit and buy it Christmas presents and everything." She took a drink from her glass and grinned as her gaze fell on Nick. They had been dating several months now and she still got those butterflies in her stomach whenever she looked at him. "I'm in bed with Nick most of the time. As often as I can, anyway. I'm still pinching myself to make sure I'm not dreaming. You know better than anyone how I scare guys off and he's still here. It's a miracle."
Zach giggled all the way through Addie’s animal thoughts. He’d always preferred dogs to cats, but he had no idea if they liked dead people or not. But then again, Addie liked dead people too, so maybe that wasn’t such a bad thing. He’d never heard her complain about her job, so he had to assume she enjoyed it. She definitely enjoyed Nick though, it was written all of her face, and it made Zach feel all giddy to see. Addie had had the same kind of luck in love that he had -- none. Until recently, at least! “Yeah ‘cause he likes you! You guys look so hot together,” Zach told her, grinning bright. “Look at us with our tall, sexy men, I love it so much, I’m so stoked for us.” Sure, Nick had several inches on Toby, but Toby was still significantly taller than Zach, so that was good enough for him. He tittered and bounced a bit more, resisting the urge to hug Addie all over again. He was just feeling huggy and handsy and so good. “Are you getting married yet? I demand to be your dude of honor.”
Addie wasn't so sure about being hot herself, but Nick was definitely hot. She was already looking forward to getting him home so she could have him all to herself for the rest of the night. Or maybe they could go park somewhere dark and fool around in the car. Zach's enthusiasm was contagious and honestly, she was thrilled that he had found someone too. Toby had taken great care of their dad when he had been in his coma and she had always liked talking to him. Zach was one of her closest friends so she wanted to see him happy too and now he was practically bouncing off the walls with it. Zach's question prompted a short laugh from Addie and her skin flushed as she took another quick drink from her glass. "We've only been dating for six months. I would though, if he asked. Like, in a heartbeat." Nick loved her, Addie knew that much. Sometimes she worried the gap in their ages would eventually prompt him to break things off, but she was also determined not to let her brain spiral down the path too far. "If it ever happens, you will definitely be my dude of honor." Addie planted a loud kiss against Zach's cheek.
