Re: Reza and Silas
Reza nodded along, his expression amused and agreeable. He had definitely matured after high school, along with most of the people he knew. Looking back, it did seem sort of like a bad trip ... and Reza had had it better than a lot of LGBTQ kids. The description of Shane made him laugh and glance back again. “Yeah, he’s pretty gross, right?” he murmured, eyes returning to Silas. “We’re from Chicago. Well, Shane was born here, but we both live there now. He was coming back for a visit and invited me along. It’s been an interesting trip.” That was putting it mildly, but Reza couldn’t really go into details. “And you’re here with ...?”
"The adorable chatty blonde over there is my sister, Addie," Silas said, pointing over to where Addie was speaking animatedly with Zach. "And the tall man looking at her like she's his galaxy is her boyfriend, Nick. I came with them tonight, but I'm a free agent. I just recently came back here myself, actually. This town has a way of bringing people back home. Have you been introduced to everyone? I don't even know everyone here but I did catch their names."
He turned to look and spotted the blonde lady and her tall handsome man, and Reza chuckled a bit because he could certainly see the worship in Nick’s face, even from here. Now that he had something like it for himself, seeing other people in love was kind of adorable. “A few, but not everyone,” he answered. “I missed saying hello to your sister ... and the good looking wallflower over there.” Reza nodded to where a handsome dark-haired guy was standing off to one side, looking vaguely awkward. “Where were you before you came back home, so to speak?” he asked. A second later his drink arrived, and Reza thanked the bartender and took it to sip on.
"Bangor," Silas replied, squinting at the wallflower. "For a little while. Oh God..." He made a low groaning sound in his throat as he debated whether to gossip to someone he didn't even know about somebody else's business. "The wallflower is Adrian Moretti," he finally blurted out and took a sip of his drink, his eyebrows doing a little dance indicating this was juicy gossip. "I helped set up a memorial service for him a few years ago. Welcome to Point Pleasant. I should probably go say hi to the poor guy- Oh wait, no. Zach is on it. Such a doll."
Reza picked up easily on the tone, it was one he was very familiar with. He just had no context for it, completely clueless about who Adrian Moretti might be. Aside from ‘cute and shy.’ “So ... someone he was close to died?” Reza asked. It didn’t sound like that was what Silas meant, and that wasn’t exactly juicy gossip, but he couldn’t imagine what else it could be ... unless he meant a memorial service for Adrian, like he was the deceased ... but that couldn’t be it, right? “I’m lost, apologies,” he added with a crooked smile.
"Understandably," Silas replied with a little chuckle. "But no, it was his memorial service. He went missing for years, assumed dead. Now he's back and I haven't heard much about where he's been or what happened to him. Nothing nice, judging by that scar." He studied Adrian for a second before turning to Reza again, not wanting to stare. "You'll probably hear a lot of stories like that here. They play it up at the museum of course, if you go on any of their tours you should hear a few strange stories about the history of this town. Quite a few of them happen to be true."
