Re: Reza, Shane, and Zania
Reza tended to stay in his own narrow magic lane, so he hadn’t even thought of enchanting Shane’s clothes to be fireproof. If Shane had asked, he would have said it was likely possible, but Reza didn’t know how to do it. It made sense that Zania did, however. His brows lifted when Shane looked at him and he chuckled a bit. “Uh, maybe?” he said with a nose wrinkle, his eyes ticking to the other witch. “Is it hard? I’ve never been very good at using other elements ...” Not that he’d tried a whole lot. Reza had dabbled here and there, but early on he’d gotten pretty obsessed with air and sound and stuck with learning about his niche interests. Of course, he’d also grown up in a non-magical family and hadn’t been surrounded by witches like Zania seemed to be here.
Zania didn’t know enough about what was going on with AIR to actually hold a conversation around it, so she was happy to stick to talk of magic and fireproof clothes. She was in her element there and not too concerned that anyone around them might overhear and actually care. “It’s not hard, but it is a spell, so it’s not going to come as naturally manipulating sound might come to you. Which is still awesome, by the way. I can teach you, if you want,” Zania smiled, hoping she wasn’t being too presumptuous. She knew better than to offer her services to most of the witches in the room, who would be offended by the notion that she knew something they didn’t, but Reza didn’t seem to have the overinflated ego that so many Point Pleasant witches possessed. Most of the time she kept her spells close to the chest, but sharing could be beneficial sometimes, and Reza was fresh blood in a small town. It was good to form healthy alliances, especially when they came easy.
Shane was positively giddy at the thought that he could have not just one but multiple sets of clothes that wouldn't burn. "You really want to learn that," he told Reza somewhat teasingly but truly he hoped he wanted to and was amiable to actually doing it, preferably with all his clothes. "There should be a way to fireproof you too," he added cheekily and of course he was thinking about sex and he had a feeling Reza would pick up on that. Whatever fight they might have in the future felt so far away but that did cross his mind too - though he still somewhat hoped Reza wouldn't be around for that if it all did turn out violent. "You could walk through fire with me."
Reza had plenty of ego, it was just based more in other things. He could at least humble himself with other witches who knew more than he did, because he knew his skills were lacking in a lot of areas. Especially if it would make Shane happy, and it sounded like it would. Reza chuckled and nodded at Zania. “Yeah, sure, I’d love to learn,” he said. “And y’know ... if you can make me fireproof too ...? That’d be hot.” He couldn’t help but grin a bit suggestively as he cut his eyes sideways at Shane. They were definitely on the same page about that particular fantasy. “Really though, I’m sure I could learn a lot from you,” Reza went on, making an attempt to behave himself. He didn’t want to make Zania uncomfortable.
“It’s a little harder to fireproof a person,” Zania snickered. “There’s no permanent way to do it, but there are protective spells that can work and be re-applied. It functions more like a shield and smoke inhalation can still be an issue. Except your base level magic is air, so maybe not. It’s something to play with maybe—perform the spell on your hand, hold it over a candle, test it out. It would be good to know walking into a dangerous situation, not so you can play around in a burning building.” She couldn’t read Shane’s mind, but she could easily see where he might be going with it. As fun as it might be to run through fire with another person, she wasn’t sure it was worth the risk for a good time.
