Re: Reza, Shane, and Zania
There was a flicker in Shane’s expression that Zania noticed, but didn’t draw attention to, though she did wonder what it was about. She recognized the stuff with AIR was a touchy subject, but most of the intel she knew was from Vex, who didn’t actually remember his time there. And while she was totally on board with helping him and Shane and Reza, her current interest was around what she and Shane had in common. Luckily, he seemed to know about that as well. “It’d be fun sometime to play around with it, see if there’s any differences. Do you burn?” she asked curiously. “My clothes do, but I don’t. Not even my hair, thank God. That would suck. I should introduce you to a few people. And point out the others like me, unless Reza’s already done so. There’s at least half a dozen here tonight.”
"I've always wanted to get clothes that don't burn," Shane murmured even as he looked around and wondered just which people were magically inclined in there. "But yeah, my hair and everything is fine. I can handle the smoke too - I kinda like it even - if there's nothing toxic burning." It was admittedly weird to meet someone who was like him, even if it was by a different design, and it was oh so tempting to start experimenting right there and then. Too many people though, Shane knew better than to let his whimsy run away with him. "Guess we're just a couple of dragons," he added with a grin. "And fire doesn't kill the dragon." He was pretty sure she got that reference; everyone and their grandmother watched Game of Thrones although he had a bone to pick with the series about some of the fire lore. "I wonder if Reza picked all of those people out," he added then, glancing around. "Half a dozen, did you get them all?"
It was a little weird to listen to them, and Reza tried to imagine Shane engulfed in flames, his clothes being eaten away while the rest of him was perfectly fine. It was both disturbing and kind of sexy, and he wasn’t sure he ever wanted to see it. Even with everything he knew about elemental magic, it was hard to convince the brain stem that someone he cared about was completely fireproof. He glanced around as well at the question, mentally tallying up the witches he could sense. “Most of them, at least,” Reza answered as his gaze returned to Shane and Zania. “It’s hard to tell exactly where it’s coming from in a crowd sometimes, if I don’t already know them. It’s a higher concentration than I ever felt at a muggle event in Chicago though, so it’s a little weird for me.” He smiled to show that it was weird in a good way -- he kind of liked the idea of a tiny town filled to the brim with magic.
“Find yourself something sexy to wear and I’ll charm it for you. We should all have something fun to work in that doesn’t burn or melt,” Zania grinned. She enjoyed leather just for the aesthetics, but found that a good pair of jeans and a fitted shirt was often more practical. The key was that she could walk out of a fire fully clothed, rather than completely nude. It wasn’t something she needed often, but it was nice to have around and she thought Shane might appreciate it. It only occurred to her afterwards that Reza could probably do that for him. If he couldn’t, she should probably share the spell with him, since they were all friends now. “I rather enjoy being compared to a dragon. Even if it makes me a little crazy,” she snickered. “I think you’ll find the ratio of our kind is a little off here. Way more than usual. It’s like we’re drawn here. It’s something about the town that I can’t explain, but I think that might be why the scientists picked up kids here as well. But that’s just my guess. Could be a coincidence.”
Shane didn't really love that change of topics from sexy and fireproof clothing to AIR so he dismissed the latter and grinned at Zania. "Go back to the sexy clothes," he murmured with a wave of his hands. "You can do that?" He was pretty sure Reza would have done that for him by now if he knew how and he looked at him with some excitement. "Think that's something you could learn to do?" It sure as hell would make the possibility of a final battle more impressive and he wouldn't end up roaming around the woods in ill fitting stolen clothes again - if he survived.
