Brianna & Reza
Reza was a little drunk and a lot excited to be at this fancy party with a bunch of other witches. He’d seen quite a few of them around Overlook, but it always felt weird to just approach people in the neighborhood, so it was kind of cool to have so many of them mingling around in one place. He’d of course talked to Zania and met her boyfriend and everything, but there was so much other magic in the room, he felt kind of giddy with it all. He wanted to meet everyone and pick their brains about this weird little town, especially now that he was tipsy, even if he knew that probably wasn’t a great idea. They were trying to keep a low profile. But Reza could keep his mouth shut about things, there were just so many witches! Shane had gotten his pool party with all the psychics, shouldn’t Reza get to do something similar?
With that logic in mind, he left his boyfriend talking to somebody else, and went to the buffet table to poke around and possibly get a snack ... but really to scope out the other magic users nearby. There was one in particular, a sophisticated looking redhead, that Reza’d had his eye on. He’d had good luck with redheads so far, so why not, right? And sometimes women were much more open to talking than men. So Reza plucked up a few shrimp to put on his small plate and sidled his way in closer to the woman. She looked a bit bored herself, so maybe this would be beneficial to both of them. “Why is it always shrimp cocktail and croissant sandwiches?” he commented as he got close enough to the woman. Reza shot her a smirk. “Truly uninspired.”
Brianna was a little bored. The evening's excitement had begun and ended with Owen, though she occasionally still caught a glimpse of him when she wasn't talking to someone else. James was still making the rounds and Brianna was already imagining going home and soaking in a hot bath, away from her neighbors and idle chit chat. They had already written their check for the PPPD. Now she just wanted to go home.
When the young man stepped up beside her and spoke, Brianna turned her gaze on him, finding she only vaguely recognized him. She had seen him around the neighborhood, though she didn't know his name. And now that he was standing so close, there was the familiar projection of magic that kept her from dismissing him outright.
Arching her brow, Brianna glanced down at her plate before raising her wine glass to her lips. "I helped choose the menu tonight. I happen to like croissants."
Reza’s already large eyes widened further and he blanched a bit, then gave an embarrassed laugh. “Well ... shit, so much for an ice breaker. Let me remove my foot from my mouth to introduce myself ... Reza Mansour,” he offered, giving her a nod instead of offering his hand out. They were both holding things and he’d probably been awkward enough already. “I’m staying in Overlook right now, and I believe I’ve seen you around the neighborhood ...” He was sure that she could feel his magic just as much as he could feel hers -- another fire witch. There seemed to be plenty of them around, he wondered if they were drawn to this place for some reason. Her magic felt strong, but undeveloped somehow, like it was still raw inside of her.
Brianna's lips twitched and she studied him from head to toe and back before slipping an arm beneath her breasts. "Brianna McCarthy. Nice to meet you, Reza. And I was just fucking with you about the menu. I had nothing to do with tonight's event. Which is obvious by the shrimp cocktail and croissant sandwiches." She wrinkled her nose briefly before taking another drink of her wine. "I remember seeing you with... another man. New residents. How are you liking Point Pleasant?" His magic was much more potent than Owen's had been, which cemented her theory that the magic was embedded in his tattoos rather than genes. Without thinking, her gaze started scanning the crowd to see if she could spot him again.
