"I don't think I could have done much to stop you if you'd decided to leave," Vex said with far more amusement than the statement warranted. "You're pretty strong in that form and not easy to reason with." He didn't want to bring the mood down either by stating the obvious but just in case it wasn't obvious he felt compelled. "You've got about three weeks before the next full moon. Just 'cause you can change at will now doesn't mean it won't affect you so... Make some plans. I've got some notes about how to build a sturdy cage if you need them." If it was up to him he'd ask them to stay, use his cage for that first full moon just to be sure Carson was really okay but that was just a selfish part of him speaking; he didn't want Carson to leave.
‘Pretty strong’ was an understatement, and Carson was too aware of the ways things could have gone wrong if he’d gotten a notion in his head not to listen to anyone. He hadn’t felt any of that bloodlust rage though, nothing that made him think he would’ve run out and torn into people. He likely would’ve just hit the woodline and disappeared to terrorize the local deer population. People weren’t for eating or killing, not anymore. Not unless they threatened his pack, at least. Vex’s point about the moon was a little sobering, and he nodded. “We’ll make a plan, for sure,” he said, glancing back at Rylee with a smile. She looked beyond ready to leave, and he was sure he would get an earful in the car, but he couldn’t honestly care at the moment. This was huge, it meant so much. If he was this way on the moon too? This curse wouldn’t be such a curse at all. “I’ll be in touch, okay?” he said to Vex, clapping the man on the shoulder again. “If nothin’ else I’ll drive back up here to get in the cage when the time comes.”
Finding Carson a secure place to stay on the full moon was on Rylee's list of things To Do. She didn't like the thought of him having to drive all the way back to Point Pleasant for it, but they would do whatever they had to do to make sure he stayed safe. "Thanks for calling me," Rylee told Vex, although she hadn't really done anything to help. Vex was the one who had coaxed Carson back into Carson. Would he need that every time? Or did he understand now how it all worked? Rylee had questions but she didn't really think Carson had any answers, especially given this seemed to be the first time he'd tried to shift on his own without the full moon.
"My house is always open to you," Vex told him and he was definitely the only one in the room who would like Carson to make the drive. It'd be a monthly treat for him whereas a major hassle for Carson and Rylee. He was trying hard not to think of Rylee as someone who was taking away his pack but it was hard not to see her a bit like the Yoko Ono stealing away his Lennon. Even Vex, as clueless as he could be, knew that was an unfair thing to think so he nodded at Rylee and did his best to feel kindness toward her. "He needed the human connection, he's too used to hanging out with me as a wolf."
