Adrian wasn’t the only one holding his tongue. Toby had picked up on the secret, but was working hard not to mention it, aware that it wasn’t something he should know. At least it was something good, something to be happy and excited about. And it wouldn’t be a secret forever. Secrets with expiration dates were much easier to keep. “You’ll be a good brother and a good house guest,” Toby smiled, grabbing a second beer out of the fridge. “You want another while I bake?” he offered, since it was polite. He had the feeling that Adrian had had more than enough, which was kind of funny when he thought about it. He’d have never taken Adrian for a lightweight.
Adrian shook his head, eyes widening for a moment. "No I think I've had enough," he admitted and laughed again because he used to be able to drink at least Simon and Josh under the table. "Guess five years of sobriety did a number on me," he added. "I'll take a soda though, thanks." It was both alarming and promising that it was this easy to get drunk but maybe it was just a one time thing, maybe it would fade if Caius D'Onofrio found a solution to his problems and he wasn't so damn hungry all the time. He hoped to find out sooner than later.
