Theo and Phee
It was kind of strange being back in a tux, surrounded by a bunch of high school students. Some he knew, some he didn’t. It wasn’t like he had been out of school for years or anything. Thankfully no one had approached him or was giving him shit about one, being at a high school prom and two, being there with a guy. Honestly, he didn’t really care about any of that, but he was always ready to throw down if someone got in his face.
After Bash snuck away to use the bathroom, Theo hung off to the side with a drink in his hand, watching people mingle and dance. Then he spotted Bash’s sister without Greg by her side so, after a moment of hesitation, he walked over to her.
“Hey.” He greeted her with a smile, hoping she wasn’t weirded out that he was talking to her. He had been seeing Bash for a few months now, but mostly on the down low and in private. Which meant not a lot of interacting with his family. “I hope you don’t mind if I hang with you for a second. I was starting to feel kind of awkward standing in a corner by myself.”
Phee knew who Theodore McCalley was, of course. He wasn’t too much older than her and Bash, and they’d grown up in the same neighborhood, and he was the son of the mayor, for gods’ sake. She’d just never had much reason to interact with him. He was older and a guy and that Handsome type that seemed so common in Overlook but never paid attention to her. When Bash had told her that they were dating and had been for a while, she’d been surprised. More than he’d kept it a secret than anything else, but there had been plenty of other shit going on, so maybe that wasn’t too weird. Bash had seemed happy about it, so Phee wasn’t going to ask a bunch of questions, she just hoped that Theo was good to him.
She was having fun at prom so far, even though Greg had gotten dragged away by some football buddies for male bonding or whatever they were doing. Everything felt so much better now that Brianna was home, and Phee was enjoying a dance break when Theo approached her. She gave him a smile, finding it a little funny that he could ever feel awkward anywhere. The world was made for guys like him. “Hi,” she said, turning toward him. “I don’t mind ... are you having fun? You graduated last year, right? Is it weird to come back?”
That was a lot of questions and Theo cocked a dark brow before his smile widened. "I'm having fun, yeah. I graduated last year and it's only slightly weird coming back. Sometimes when you graduated and go away for college you don't really think you'll be back attending another high school thing." Not that he minded. He was there with Bash, otherwise, he wouldn't have been there at all. "What about you, are you having fun? How long have you and Wheeler been together?" He was sort of glad he didn't have any sisters because he knew his friends well enough to know that he definitely wouldn't want any of them dating a blood relative. Bash seemed fine with it, but that was probably because Phee and Greg were still together.
