Re: Bash & Theo
"I didn't say we hooked up," Bash clarified, probably for the first time with anyone, except maybe Greg. He'd always let people assume because it fit the role he'd been trying to play, but it felt wrong to let it slide, especially now. He knew some people would still wonder why he hadn’t sampled the goods when he had a chance, but Sebastian thought it was probably better that he hadn’t. He doubted it would’ve been near as easy to remain friends. "We dated. And for a while there we weren't friends. But our circle's small, you know? Once she found someone else, it was easier to be friends. Now she's one of my closest." There were other guys he enjoyed hanging out with, but very few he'd actually confide in. It was mostly limited to Greg and Jules, and now Theo.
Theo wondered how anyone could date Jules and not sleep with her. Or try to. But if Bash was struggling with his sexuality, it made sense. He had to hand it to the guy for not trying to have sex with her "just to see" if he was really gay. "Then it has a happy ending," Theo said, smiling again. "I mean, not that kind of happy ending, but you know what I'm saying." He was teasing again, to lighten the mood a little. Not that it was a downer, but he was sure Bash didn't really want to talk about his past relationships at prom.
There were times now that Bash would've considered fooling around with a girl, but it was more out of curiosity than actual desire. It didn't matter if he could get it up for a girl when he was with a guy that could get him hard without even really touching him. If he was going to experiment, he wanted there to be a dick involved other than his own. "A happy ending without a 'happy ending'," Bash snickered. He didn't mind talking about Jules. When it came to past relationships, he looked back on theirs with a smile and rarely thought of her as an ex these days. She was just a good friend. "Prom should have a happy ending though. My sister is pissed she can't stay with Greg tonight."
Theo was aware that the song was ending but he wasn't quite ready to pull away from Bash just yet. "Sounds like your mom is back in the swing of things," he said. "Though to be fair, my mom was a bit stricter with me when I was sixteen too. Unless she's seventeen now?" He knew Phee had another year of school left, at least. "They don't seem to mind when you're not home though. Is it just the age? Or because you're a guy." Theo wasn't going to complain at all, since he got the benefit of Bash having more freedom and everything.
"She turns seventeen tomorrow," Sebastian said, barely noticing that the music had changed. "It's 'cause she's a girl and she's not eighteen yet. And she could get pregnant. They didn't really give a shit where I was when I was sixteen, at least for things like dances, so there's all kinds of double standards going on." Even though he'd not been sleeping with anyone, Bash had partied plenty and he could've been getting into a lot more trouble than he had. In his case, all he'd mostly done was gotten drunk and slept on Greg's couch. "I feel bad for her, but I also stay out of it. Last thing I need is a curfew." He'd had one before, but it would feel especially strained now that he'd gone months without one.
"That's probably smart," Theo said. He had never had to worry about a curfew. His mom gave him plenty of space and freedom as long as he didn't do anything to embarrass her. Getting kicked out of school had probably been the worst thing Theo had done so far. He had never gotten an DUI or a girl pregnant so Theo figured he was doing okay. With the song over and something more upbeat starting, Theo cocked a brow. "You want to grab a drink? I don't have much rhythm but I can probably try to shake my ass with some semblance of knowing what I'm doing."
“You don’t wanna grind a little?” Sebastian smirked, though he was mostly joking. Mostly only because he got the feeling the answer was no. He would’ve happily danced with Theo until they needed to excuse themselves to somewhere more private. “Come on,” he said nodding towards the drinks. “Let’s get a drink, then I can start introducing you around.” There would be plenty of time to escape to the dance floor later.
