Re: Ruby & Clint
A teen comedy theme for their prom would be way better than some kind of Carrie horror show, which was ridiculously possible in Point Pleasant. Clint hoped the evening stayed light too. He laughed at what she said and leaned over to kiss her cheek. “You always dressed nice,” he assured her, amused. He knew what types of movies she was referencing, and they were stupid. Changing people didn’t work in the real world, and why would he want to? He liked Ruby for her, and vice versa, and that was why they were still together even though they might not make sense to other people. A drink sounded good to him though, especially with a flash weighing down his jacket pocket, so he took Ruby’s hand to lead her toward where they were handing out punch. Soon enough they each had a beverage with a kick. Clint grooved a bit to the music while he took a sip, his eyes skimming over the crowd. “We need pictures too,” he said to Ruby with a grin. “Before we get all sweaty and rumpled.”
Ruby grinned, appreciating the compliment. She knew she didn't blend with the girls in his crowd, but he had never seemed to mind. What other people thought of them wasn't something either of them cared about. If there'd been pressure to change, they would never have lasted this long. She stuck close to him as he spiked their drinks, something she was sure at least half the crowd was doing, and clinked her cup against his in a silent cheers before taking a sip. "So before we dance then, 'cause that's pretty much a guarantee," she grinned. Dancing with Clint often led to making out with Clint and there wasn't a time that the both of them didn't end up looking thoroughly disheveled by the end of it. "I also wanna make sure we take our own pictures. Those tend to be a lot more fun."
“Oh of course, but we can’t show those to my mom,” Clint laughed. “Last prom, I know she’ll want at least one decent one to hang up.” That didn’t mean they couldn’t have a drink first though, and Clint didn’t rush his way through it. Tonight was not the night to get any sort of sloppy. He wanted to show Ruby a good time all night long, so he had to pace himself. They chatted with a few people while they finished their drinks, then got in line to get their picture taken. Once that was all done, Clint pulled Ruby off to a shadowy part of the room for a quick nip straight from the flask. As he tucked it back into his pocket, he leaned in to kiss her, feeling a nice buzz in his limbs that was a mixture of excitement and alcohol. “Aight, now I’m ready to fuckin’ dance,” he said, flashing a grin.
Ruby had a hard time imagining Clint's mom framing and hanging any picture that she was featured in, but she didn't argue. It was sweet and a very mom thing to do. If her mom was there, she imagined she'd do the same. Every possible picture pose felt cheesy, but that was just par for the course, so they snapped a few pictures of their own afterwards to make up for it. The shot from the flask was enough to give her a good buzz, making her giddy and open to almost anything, but especially dancing with her man. Ruby kissed him back, laughing against his lips, then took his hand and began to pull him towards the dance floor. "Let's do it," she grinned. It was a good excuse to get her hands on him, even though she really didn't need one.
Clint’s mom was reserving her opinions on who he was dating until more time passed. She had met and liked Ruby okay, but never looked too approving when he talked about her. Clint was sure she assumed they would break up after graduation, or at least before the summer was over and he was going off to college ... he wasn’t so positive, if he was being honest with himself. He knew they probably should, what with futures and all that, but he kept pushing that decision off on future-Clint. For now he just wanted to have fun with his hot, cool girlfriend. The future would come when it came. The present was much better, especially at the moment. The current song had a great beat to grind to, and Clint pulled Ruby in close once they had a spot on the floor. It was easy to get completely into the music when his head was a bit light and his limbs were buzzing.
