Addie had no idea how long it took Nick to write his books, but that sounded promising. She could practically hear Silas in her head, telling her to leave it at that, as not to scare him off this early in their relationship. If that's what this was. They were dating, at least. Right? For a split second, Addie considered asking, but that question felt too soon as well. Nick might have never had his heart broken before, but Addie had and more than once. It was usually because she often fell hard and fast, and that was generally her own fault. She wanted this one to last as long as it could, so she rested her head down again, content with what she had. "Will you sign my copies when you're done with them?" Addie asked, smiling as her hand slid back up to his chest.
Nick didn’t honestly know much about his future. He could squeeze several books out of this town and its history and phenomena, but he wasn’t sure he would actually get to. The Foundation had final say in what he published, always combing his manuscripts to make sure he hadn’t violated his NDA somehow. Over the years Nick had largely learned to write around the restrictions, but they still checked. They also had the power to reassign him if they deemed fit, and he would either have to go or quit the job that made him the most money. Time would tell, on that one. But until then, he wanted to enjoy this thing that he and Addie had going on. Oblivious to the questions on her mind, Nick chuckled and kissed her blonde head again. “Of course. I’ll dedicate one to you, even,” he said. He gave her a little squeeze and sighed. “Wanna hop in the shower with me to clean up? I’ve got some snacks in the mini-fridge too. We can find something dumb to watch and make fun of.”
Addie had no idea if Nick would actually dedicate one of the books to her or not, but the thought of it had her beaming from ear to ear. The most she could do for him was offer reduced pricing for cremation services. And that would just be weird. Kissing his chest, Addie moved to sit up. "A shower sounds good." She did need to clean up, so why not do it now? "So do snacks and television." It felt like a normal couple-y thing to do and she hadn't had that in a long time. Addie couldn't help but reach out and run her fingers through his hair a bit. "I wash your back, you wash mine?"
“You can wash any part’a me you want,” he drawled with a lazy grin. Nick sat up and leaned in to kiss her, giving her ass an affectionate smack before he pulled away and got up. It would end up being a very domestic night, and Nick liked that. It wasn’t a vibe he got to have too often, so he was grateful to have found someone who inspired that sort of comfort in him. Addie was fun and sweet and nicely low key, and he was more than happy to share his shower and bed and anything else with her. Well, almost anything. He still had secrets to keep. But in every other aspect, her company was more than welcome, and he was already looking forward to falling asleep cuddling her.
