He gave a little groan of disapproval at the part about it being the apocalypse, but then Jasper had to chuckle a tiny bit at the last part. “Yeah, me too,” he murmured. “But if I do then I’m gonna haunt your ass forever, even if you’re the last man on earth.” He didn’t think that his wound itself was life-threatening, no matter how bad it hurt at the moment. But Jasper also knew there was a possibility there was some crazy poison running through his veins, or that it would get infected and kill him before they could get out of here. He was just trying not to think about that shit. He munched on a few crackers and sipped his water and hoped hard that Jules was inside and okay.
"That's okay, I think I could handle a Jasper haunting. Just don't be a dick and like, scare me in the shower and shit like that." He was trying hard to be nonchalant about all of this, but he was still trying to wrap his mind around what had just happened. What was outside? How badly was Jasper hurt? Were they stuck in this pharmacy forever? Was his mom okay? Despite Logan's shitty relationship with his dad, was he okay? Logan tried not to think about it too much because he wasn't sure what he would do if the fear dug its claws in deeper. "Are those Oxy kicking in?" he asked. "You didn't puke those up, so I'm guessing your stomach is feeling better?"
Thinking about it too much was definitely a bad idea. It made Jasper sort of glad for the pain, it was kind of distracting. Though that aching burn was easing up slowly. He hoped that was a good sign. “Think they might be,” he answered Logan, reaching to dip his fingers into the bag to steal a gummy or two. “It was just the fuckin’ pain man. That sucked.” Jasper had never hurt so bad it made him puke before, but he didn’t feel sick anymore, so he had to assume that was it. He took a sip of water and looked around as much of the store as he could see from where they were sitting. “You wanna pop one too? Think we’ll be here a while.”
"I really do," Logan admitted, peering up at the bottle still on the counter above them. "But then I think about that shit outside and if I should try to be responsible and not be too fucked up while you're hurt." He cocked a dark brow and glanced at Jasper. "That's probably what they call growth? But... yeah, I'd definitely like to pop one. Or two. But only if you say I can. As long as you don’t think you’re gonna puke or pass out again or anything like that."
Jasper gave a little snort at the suggestion of growth, though it was more meant to tease than anything. If he could grow, Logan could too. He thought about it for a moment, considering what the hell they could possibly do if something from out there tried to get in and kill them. There was nowhere to run, they couldn’t go back outside. They had nothing to defend themselves with. And if his wound festered with poison or something, what could Logan do about it? If this was going to be it, the last hours of their lives, they might as well enjoy it, right? “I’m good, man, go for it,” Jasper murmured, his eyes coming back to Logan. “We’re stuck, so fuck it.” Maybe that was the drugs starting to kick in, but Jasper felt like it didn’t matter, it would be okay.
