Re: Greg and Sebastian
It was an exercise in utter chaos and silliness and since the song wasn't much of a duet, they took turns on singing, obviously using each others' names instead of the one in the lyric. The harmony was a disaster and because they weren't sure who was singing what, a good chunk of the song was spent laughing. "I don't think we'll ever be rock stars," Greg said with a playful grimace when the song ended, even if they got wild applause from their group. "Remember when we used to play sing star all the time? We clearly need to do that again to get back into singing shape!"
It was wild, stupid fun and Sebastian threw his whole self into it, feeling for just a moment like he could sing far better than he knew he could, even when they were completely butchering it. The song ended with them laughing, stumbling off the stage to their friends’ applause. “You’re crushing my dreams!” Sebastian laughed, though he was in agreement with Greg. They would never be rock stars. Occasionally he liked to fantasize about playing for a bigger audience, but it wasn’t a serious dream. He’d spent some time assessing those lately, what was realistic and what was not. “We need to play that some more for sure, get some practice in before we take to the stage. You should come over. We can have a game night.”
"Sounds good!" Greg said animatedly. "Been a while since we played anything at all." It was definitely time for a re-match on some newer games and Greg still hadn't gotten to play with the drone he'd bought for Bash for Christmas. "Come with me get more drinks," he said when they reached their table, bumping his shoulder against Bash's shoulder before leaning over Phee for a quick kiss and to check if she wanted anything. "She wanted another soda and so did he so it seemed like a good time while someone else got singing.
Sebastian couldn’t complain, he’d been preoccupied himself for most of the fall, but he did hope that they could maybe hang out a bit more in the new year. It was starting to dawn on him that he only had six more months before leaving for college and he wanted to soak up as much time with his friends as possible. “Sure,” he smiled, nabbing his drink off the table as Greg spoke to Ophelia. “You should sing with her,” he told Greg, once they’d started towards the bar. “Some mushy duet that makes her blush. She’d like that.” It was just a guess, but he was willing to bet money that he was right, even if she wouldn’t admit it.
"Let's see if we can get her to sing at all," Greg chuckled. Phee was full of surprises but he was never quite sure of how shy she was. He liked to think hanging out with him was rubbing off on her because it felt like she was becoming more outgoing but maybe he was just finally seeing her as she was. It wasn't like they'd spent a lot of time together before. "Man I need to browse the selection, I can't think of a single mushy song." He did a little shoulder dance along to the song currently on and leaned against the bar, looking over at the stage. "You gonna help me out?"
“She has to! She has to,” Sebastian grinned. “You don’t come to karaoke and not sing. Unless you’re Jasper Lucas. I’m pretty sure Jules was lucky just to get him here.” There were things she could probably offer to get him on stage, so long as she hadn’t already played that card to get him to come along in the first place. “There are tons of love songs. Literally hundreds, especially for guys and girls. You could go Disney and sing A Whole New World if you wanna be silly. Or you could go with something modern and mushy like Two is Better Than One or This Feeling or Perfect. Or you could go for something from RENT or Grease or, dude, there’s so much out there. You don’t even have to sing a traditional duet. If you’re singing about love and you’re on stage with her, I’m pretty sure that works.” He could name plenty off the top of his head. They were the kind of thing he’d been listening to up until he started avoiding them like the plague.
