Re: Caius and Shayna Mae
It took a few moments before the phone buzzed and the text came through. That was good enough. She slid her phone back into her bag. Understanding that her family had been lucky with Knox, Shayna Mae didn't want to push the issue. Knox had been with her family for a really long time and it was probably harder to summon a familiar at this stage of Caius's life. She knew he was powerful, but it would likely be difficult for him to have anyone or anything hovering about, even if someone or something was there to serve him. But familiars weren't for every witch and if one was simply a last resort for Caius, then that was his choice. "Well, I hope you find something that does work," Shayna Mae said. "But maybe your brain needs a break... that'll help." She motioned to his cup and smiled again. "Do whatever feels good tonight and enjoy it. Then you can start fresh tomorrow, right?" Exhaustion helped no one and she could read the weariness in and around his eyes.
“Yeah,” Caius agreed with a slow smile. He was starting to feel better, like a slow wave of contentment sliding over him. Some tension in his back that seemed like it had been there for months was starting to loosen. “Yeah, we can start fresh tomorrow.” He reached out to gently clink his glass against Shayna Mae’s in a silent toast, and then took another big swallow. It was a party, for gods’ sake, he shouldn’t be moping about like he was. Caius straightened up from the counter and gave Shayna Mae an appreciative nod. “Good to see you, give your family our best. I’m going to find Reagan.” And possibly spike her drink a little, because if those herbs could make him feel this relieved already, maybe they could do a lot for her too.
Hopefully the both of them would relax and have some fun for once. This certainly didn't seem like the kind of party to walk around sad or pouting. Shayna Mae could do much more than what she already did, so hopefully it would help. She gave Caius a smile as he moved away from the counter. "Good luck." And she could wander off and find Knox. He was probably socializing himself, but she doubted he would mind if she came around and clung to him for a bit.
