Rylee and Zania
ylee was having a good time. She knew everyone at Zan’s party, even if they weren’t people she spoke to on a daily basis. Everyone else seemed to be having a good time too. Alcohol helped. Rylee was sipping from her own glass while keeping an eye on Carson. She knew he was okay, but she worried about the whole telepathy thing, if it was bothering him, or if Nic might somehow pull things out of Carson’s head that were private, even if Nic wasn’t meaning to. Rylee decided to stop worrying so much. She was at a party a few days from Christmas and she wanted to have fun. They deserved it after everything that had been going on.
Rylee moved through the room to refill her glass and she smiled as she came upon Zania. “Hey,” she greeted, nudging her friend with her hip. “This is amazing. It’s so nice going to a party that isn’t being held at the country club for once. Are you having fun?” She didn’t want to assume that just because Zania was the hostess that she was enjoying herself. But it didn’t hurt to ask.
Zania had been stressed about the party up until it started, at which point she poured herself a drink and decided to enjoy herself rather than fret about what was or wasn't done. Nobody knew what was missing, so there was no reason to kill herself getting it done, especially when everything else seemed to be going so well. It was hard to let it go-- she might not be organized, but she was a control freak-- but she had a house full of distractions that kept her from obsessing. Gabriel was her favorite distraction, one she was looking forward to snuggling up with later, but Rylee was fantastic too and she bounced a little as her friend came up to her. "Course! I have, like, all of my favorite people in one place," she grinned. "Do you know everyone? Have you met Gabriel yet?"
"I know... almost everyone," Rylee said with a grin. People she recognized, but knowing them was different. "And I didn't officially meet Gabriel. He's pretty gorgeous though." There were a lot of good looking guys in the house, in her opinion, although none of them held a candle next to Carson. Not that she could say that. Not that she could even hold his hand, or touch him or anything. It was kind of depressing, but Rylee supposed she ought to be thankful no one was trying to hit on her, or set her up or anything. "How is it going with you two?"
“Good. Great. Wonderful,” Zania grinned. “His birthday was on Tuesday. I made him dinner and he stayed over.” Which probably wasn’t that big a deal, except that she’d been trying to take things slow and not just fall into bed with him because he was hot. It felt like it meant more because he’d been willing to put in the relationship time too. It had been a long time since Zania had called someone her boyfriend, but she was pretty comfortable with going there now, even if they hadn’t discussed it. “I took him to the Christmas gala and he survived my parents,” she added with a wide eyed gesture that matched how big a deal that was. “I think I’ll keep him around a while.”
"Wow." Rylee's smile widened. It was nice to see Zania so animated over a guy. She figured it might have been weird with Caius here, but so far it seemed like everyone was getting along. "So it sounds like it's going well," she laughed. "That's great. I know looks aren't everything but damn, Zan, he's fucking gorgeous. And if he's still hanging around after meeting your parents, then he's worth it. Are you going to spend Christmas with him?"
