Nic and Reagan
"Please shoot me if I do," Nic snickered. "That's about as poetic as I get. We don't need any more of that nonsense." It had just felt like the best way to explain it at the moment. Lem knew he could lose his shit and hurt people. He knew the same about her. And they were okay with that, so long as they didn't hurt each other. Maybe it was poetic, but Nic loved her darkenss as much as he loved her light. It made her who she was. "They get along pretty well. I think they'd be friends even if we weren't together, so that's a plus." Nic didn't need Zania's approval, but it sure made his life a hell of a lot easier to have it. "Gabriel?" he grinned. "I don't know him very well yet, but Zan lights up around him, so we're cool. I'm kinda waiting to see how he handles her when she's in a mood."
Reagan snickered softly. She knew all about Zania's temper. "Yeah, well, good luck to him with that." Honestly she was glad that Zania and Nic both found someone they enjoyed being around. Maybe it would lessen the hostilities between Zania and Caius. "Thanks for the hat," she told Nic. "Caius is going to hate it, but I think he'll wear it if I ask him nicely." Maybe if she promised him it would be worth it later, he would. It amused her to think about it even putting it on his gorgeous head. "And thanks for inviting us."
“I’m pretty sure he’ll do anything for you,” Nic smiled. “Even wear a ridiculous hat. It’ll disappear sometime around dawn, so enjoy it while you can.” He could only fuel this amount of magic at once during the solstice. By the time the sun rose on Ludlow, it will all be back to normal. “I’m glad you came. It’s nice to see you somewhere other than the shop or whatever charity event our mothers are hosting.” They’d never interacted socially, probably because of the bad blood between Reagan and Zania, but it seemed like they might be at a point of putting that behind them finally.
"Disappearing at dawn... he'll be like Cinderella," Reagan said. Amused, she glanced over her shoulder but didn't see Caius anywhere. Maybe he disappeared into the kitchen. "But yeah, I'm glad I came too. I think it's good for us to get out and be around people that aren't primarily customers, clients or people our parents know." Reagan sipped more of her drink and let her eyes wander around the room. The O'Reilly familiar was just so... very large... But she didn't want Caius catching her ogling anyone, so Reagan forced herself to look elsewhere. "I guess I should go find my husband. Do you have any mistletoe hanging around here?"
“Try not to let him lose any shoes on the way out,” Nic teased, then nodded in agreement. Customers, clients, or people their parents knew— that pretty much summed up everyone else in town. Here, in this room, he felt like people knew him better. He was an actual person, not just a name with a reputation. That was something he and Reagan had in common. “Pretty sure there’s actual mistletoe hanging over every doorway, plus some in Zania’s hair. If you’re going to nab some, go for the one in the door,” he grinned. “Zan’s in pretty good spirits tonight, but probably wouldn’t appreciate you messing up her hair.”
"I think I'll avoid trying to take anything out of Zania's hair, or even kissing underneath it." Reagan snorted. "She would just love that, I'm sure. I think I would like to get through the evening without being turned into a toad." She reached out to touch Nic's arm. "Thanks for the hat. If you see him wearing it later try to get a picture as subtly as you can and then send it to me."
