Re: Caius / Brianna
As soon as possible could mean anything and it sounded like a ploy to hang onto the grimoire for a while longer, which didn't sit well with Brianna. She looked around again, appearing as casual as she could before her gaze returned to Caius. "I'd like to come by tomorrow to pick it up. It's been several weeks and I assume if there was something you needed in it, you would have found it by now. James will start asking questions and I would rather not involve him, for obvious reasons." That wasn't completely true. James hadn't asked about her family's grimoire, but she could only imagine his reaction if he knew she had handed it over to another magical family.
Caius knew that wasn’t true, because he’d instructed her not to talk about it with James, and he was fairly sure his magical influence was still holding. He should’ve told her to forget about it completely until Caius approached her again, but hindsight was 20/20, wasn’t it? The fact was that he had found what he’d been after, and even though it hadn’t actually been in the grimoire, they wouldn’t have found those pages in Zania’s basement without the book itself. So Brianna had done him an extraordinary favor. A coerced favor, but still. Caius gave a tiny sigh through his nose, his gaze roaming for a moment as he pondered how much more time he could squeeze out of it. He could always bend Brianna’s will again, tell her to drop it until he was ready, but that just seemed ... excessive. “All right ... we have some plans during the day, stop by our house in Black Cove tomorrow evening?” he suggested. Caius could take the grimoire to work and finish up his scanning and copying, then be ready to hand it back.
Brianna nodded, well aware of where Reagan's home was in Black Cove, even if she had never visited it herself. "I'll come by," she said. She couldn't hold off on getting the grimoire back much longer. Not only would James eventually ask about it, but Brianna found herself curious now as well. She was beginning to realize her ancestors had been quite powerful, before they opted to stop practicing magic all together, and Brianna couldn't help but wonder if she harbored the same kind of power. Not that she was looking for curse anyone's family for generations to come, but Brianna had to admit the possibility that she could was enough to make her want to learn more. She raised her wine glass towards him. "I hope you're enjoying yourself this evening. You and Reagan make quite a couple. Are you still interested in selling your home?" Her lips twitched in mild amusement, because what kind of realtor would she be if she wasn't always looking for business in the midst of all of this chaos?
