Re: Sebastian and Jules
"I tried to sneak out of the house the other night and set off the alarm, but I don't remember it," Sebastian explained. "Like, at all. My dad said I tried to use some magic on him that I shouldn't even know. So either he's making shit up just so he can ground me, or I really did activate a family curse when I helped Reagan break hers." He knew he should be taking it seriously, but nothing else had happened and he was really starting to think it had all been an elaborate ruse to ground him. He was also starting to really feel the effects of the drug, which made it hard to take anything seriously. "For a while, my magic seemed all wonky, but it's better now," he smiled, holding his hand out in front of him. Water started to gather in his palm, taking a spherical shape as it grew, slowly progressing to the size of a tennis ball.
"What's with all these curses," Jules asked with a shake of her head. "I mean, seriously. Your dad is probably making it all up so you have to stay home instead of like, going out and being gay and stuff." She watched Sebastian's water appear and then begin to grow. That was so much cooler than telepathy and dream monsters. "So what do you do with it?" she asked, motioning to the water ball. "Like... can you drown people? Or, make the ocean move? Or like... I don't know." She giggled. "Guess you don't need a water bottle during games, huh?"
"If he doesn't want me going out and being gay, he'd flip over tonight," Sebastian snickered. What his father didn't know wouldn't hurt him, at least when it came to hand jobs at a house party. "I could endlessly fill a water bottle if I needed to. I think. The ocean's a little big for me to control, but I guess I could drown someone. Or, like, turn them into an ice cube," he said, closing his fingers around the edges of the water ball, freezing it solid. "I wouldn't though. The only reason I want to learn magic is to help people. And keep them safe. And maybe do cool party tricks," he grinned, giving the ball of ice a little squeeze so it crystallized, turning into a snowball instead. He offered it to Jules. "The water stuff comes naturally to me, with practice, but most other things require a spell."
Jules didn't know enough about magic to know what it could and couldn't do, but she was sure as much as Bash wanted to keep people safe, there were probably some out there who wanted to hurt people too. She thought about Nic, but never got any wicked witch vibes from him when they had spoken. "You could be a magician, and everyone would think you're just somehow tricking them but they'll never be able to figure out how," she said with a grin. "That's really cool though. Just don't get burned at the stake, okay? Because that would suck."
"Yeah, that would definitely suck," Sebastian said with a snort. "That's why we're not supposed to tell people, because they might think we're dangerous. I mean, we can be, but... but most of us aren't. And most of us do burn," he added, shrinking the snowball back down into nothing. It was still kind of wild to him that he could do that, generate water out of thin air, then return it back into the ether. He could feel the shifting of the elements, but it felt so natural to him, like turning on a faucet, then washing it back down a drain. "I can think of better superpowers to have than summoning water and turning things to ice."
Jules just assumed all witches could burn, unless they did some crazy spell to save themselves. And if the Six were really witches, why hadn't they done that? So many questions but her head was too buzzy and out of sorts to think to even ask. Like Bash would have the answer anyway. "I don't know, it's pretty cool," Jules said, closing her eyes and letting her head fall back a bit when the room started to spin. "It's more than I can do! If you survive the apocalypse, you'll never have to worry about clean water. So, you already have an advantage over everyone else."
