Carson and Rylee [Morning After]
"A weird gift basket. I'm sure someone in Point Pleasant has that niche covered, right?" She helped him stay steady until they reached her car. Pulling her arm carefully from his side, Rylee opened the passenger side door for him. "I'll take the weird though, if it means having a safe place for you once a month. It seems like Vex and Lem plan on staying here for a while. We might be able to persuade them to let us use the house even if they decide to leave." She would definitely figure something out if Lem ever said they were leaving town. Pay some 'rent' or something.
He knew that they would have to have a steady plan in place, because this was going to be a monthly occurrence, but Carson was too exhausted to really give it much thought. “I’m sure we’ll work it out,” he said as he climbed into the car. Carson gave a little groan as he settled in. Everything still hurt -- either Rylee’s painkillers were taking a while to kick in, or they were only strong enough to take the edge off. He had better stuff at home, and all he really wanted to do now was toss a couple of them down the hatch and sleep for the next twenty four hours. Carson leaned the car seat back some and closed his eyes, starting to doze off before Rylee even got them out of the driveway.
