Re: Nic and Rylee
"Oh, I don't know," Rylee said. It hadn't occurred to her that she needed to sleep. But she couldn't exactly stay awake all night, and she wasn't going to drive home either. "Lem said I could crash on the couch so I didn't have to leave Carson, but I'm not overly tired yet. I know I can't stay awake all night, but... you know. It's hard to sleep." Rylee sighed and then smiled at Nic. "Coffee would probably be a bad idea this late. But thanks. We can go inside, though. It's getting colder." She moved to stand up, stretching a bit as she did.
Nic was glad to hear that Lem had offered the couch. If she hadn’t, then he’s offer her his, but that was next door. It wasn’t far, but he was willing to bet it was farther than Rylee wanted to be from Carson. “Maybe I’ll make some tea, just to have something warm,” he smiled, stubbing out the last remains of his cigarette before rising to his feet. He could tolerate the cold better than most, but even he was starting to get the chills. A cup of tea would warm them up, plus it gave him something to do other than wait. It was going to be a long night no matter what.
