Re: Nic and Rylee
Nic wondered who the nurse was and why they believed in all this stuff, though if they were working in the Point Pleasant ER then they probably saw their fair share of weird shit. Maybe that was enough to make a person believe in werewolves. Either way, they were lucky that they’d had the connection. “I always wonder how people get brought into this if they’re not born in. Like, even with generations of knowledge behind us, we still knew next to nothing about werewolves. So what’s his story, you know? How do you become an expert in something that almost no one even believes in?” And, Nic didn’t want to say it, but most of those that ran into werewolves didn’t survive the experience. Tonight was unique in more ways than one.
"I don't really know much about him," Rylee admitted. "We only really talked about Carson. From what I found online, he's an author. I'm not sure how Adam, the nurse, got his name and knew to ask him about this. I guess maybe all it takes is experiencing something like this? And then finding out the right people to talk to, the right places to look. Obviously there had to be a point in time where they didn't know this stuff existed to being an expert. I mean, I could conceivably be in expert in all things paranormal in like, ten years now," she added with a laugh.
“You keep hanging out with us and it’s bound to happen at some point,” Nic grinned. He wouldn’t consider himself an expert in anything, but he did think he had a pretty good handle on the general supernatural occurrences in the area. Only things like werewolves and dream monsters tripped him up these days and those were both rare, the latter of which still didn’t have a name. “Normally I like this kind of thing, but it’s different when it’s personal. I hope it gets easier, that he can get into a routine that really only affects him once a month.” He knew there had been a lot of stress leading up to it this month, plus the pain that followed last month. Minimizing them both would be the key and Nic would do whatever he could to help. These were his friends, new and old.
Rylee had been hanging out with Nic and Zania since high school and none of this had ever come up. She really had no idea if they would have ever told her the truth about their families if Carson hadn't been bitten, or had been connected to Nic through those dreams. But she knew now, and that was all that mattered at the moment. "I think once we get a few months under our belt, it might be a bit easier," Rylee said. "Maybe we can even find something to give him before the change that will make it less painful in the morning." She had to assume that kind of bodily transformation took a toll on the human body and she wasn't sure how Carson would feel once he woke up. "Maybe Zania has a tea for that or something."
“Last month I gave him a tea and a salve, but both were after the fact. I’ll see if we can find him something to take before hand that’ll help minimize the aftereffects so he doesn’t have to experience them at all,” Nic said. Zania might have some ideas that weren’t coming to him. Though Carson couldn’t injure himself too badly before he got knocked out, the transformation itself still did a number on his body. “So, what’s your plan for the rest of the night? Are you gonna try and get some sleep? Or should I go make some coffee?” Carson was out cold, so there was really no reason for Rylee to stay up, but she might not be able to sleep and he really couldn’t blame her. They’d all sleep better once the night was over.
