Re: Vex and Lem
It was all meant to be in the end, wasn’t it? Sometimes Lem did feel like she had some control over her life, but most of the time she was just a leaf on the wind, a bug caught in the river current, flowing along whatever path this particular reality wanted to go down. There were other Lems doing other things in other dimensions, but this was hers, and it would be what it was. “Noted,” she said. Lem wasn’t eager to shoot anyone else, but she would defend her place and her people. “What about the preacher guy? Anything more from him?”
"Not a peep," Vex replied. "Now I really wanna know how many of my ghosts are in town, living and breathing people. I've seen three so far. That's a lot of people for a small town. And that's not counting aunt Sarah, four including her though she's not doing much of anything anymore. She was my... call to action, like a locator spell to bring us here." Yeah, that made sense. How else would they have known to come to Point Pleasant? He'd only ever seen a vision of Sarah that one time when she died but he still couldn't help but wonder if she was somehow connected to his growing army.
Lem nodded along because that made sense to her. Sarah’s bad death had brought them to where they would be needed. Or where Vex was needed anyway. “I wonder if they all had calls to action too,” she pondered aloud, lifting her coffee to sip on again. “Or if they were just here already, or what. ... wouldn’t it be funny if they just showed up at the same time?” She flashed him a little smile. “Maybe the preacher guy was just waiting for you to meet the dreamwalker chick without even knowing it.” If they were all meant to converge at the same place at the same time, why not? The universe’s ways could be mysterious.
"That would be fucking cool," Vex said with a grin. "Predestination at its finest, not to mention really convenient." He could feel an urge rising, one that didn't make sense and was more a restless sort of energy he'd need to find another release for, the urge to go out and walk the streets to see if he could find another face. It was both a terrible idea on a full moon and very pointless this late on Sunday night - or early Monday morning as it was. Nobody would be around - unless that was predestined too. He needed to squash the feeling and it took some effort. "I'm gonna check on our wolf," he muttered, needing something to do, especially if it underlined the importance of staying in.
“Okay,” Lem said, still gazing at Vex over the rim of her coffee cup. She could tell he was restless. Herself? She was feeling a bit better. It wasn’t her turn to really watch Carson, so she thought maybe she would linger upstairs for a bit, maybe wash her face and try to get a nap in. “Yell for me if you need me,” she added. Lem doubted they would, but it never hurt to say it.
