Re: Vex and Lem
“I’m okay,” Lem said after a moment’s thought. She wasn’t great, she didn’t like all of the people they didn’t know well in the house either, but it wasn’t as bad as it could’ve been. Nic and Zania were two of those people, and Nic had done the magic to disguise the body-barrels, so that was less nerve-wracking. “Kinda ready for it to be over already. But I think everyone is.” She shrugged and wondered vaguely if they should try to get a card game going or something. Lem was already planning to sleep the whole next day, if nothing went wrong and killed them all. “If this goes off okay, we gonna be a werewolf hotel every month?” she asked, tilting her face up to look at Vex.
"Maybe so," Vex replied though he wasn't sure of anything and planning far ahead wasn't really an option when your whole life tended to ride on a pegasus and its whimsy. "Maybe he'll build his own cage, but I like having ours here in case of... him or anyone else." It was a good, sturdy cage in a soundproof room and that could come in handy for more than just werewolves. Vex still felt like they were at the brink of war and that made his mind wander to random places. "We'll see how tonight goes, then we can make adjustments. Maybe we won't need everyone here all the time."
Them building their own cage would’ve been ideal, but Lem had heard somewhere along the line that they lived in an apartment, so that put a damper on that. Maybe they could figure out another place or ... something. No matter what, she and Vex could probably expect to have visitors once a month for a while. Like bad cramps or something. She’d never thought about the similarities between werewolves and periods, but now she was. Lem gave Vex another squeeze, then pulled away to get a coffee mug down for herself and pour a cup. It was going to be a long night, caffeine would be needed. “It was pretty cool to watch, though,” she murmured, a little smirk flickering across her face.
"Yeah it was," Vex agreed. It hadn't been cool to watch the dead guy changing from werewolf to human - dead human at that - but this had been cool. Probably in part because this time they could actually sit calm and watch it but the not dying thing also played a big part. "Not a lot of people get to see something like that, our lives are pretty rockin'." He moved aside for her to let her at the coffee maker, sipping from his own cup as he listened to the comfortable sounds of her puttering around. This kitchen brought back memories all the time and this moment felt like it would become one of those memories. Funny how aware of that he was, like a little time-travel in his head.
“Not a lot of people get to see half of what we see on a boring weekend,” Lem mused as she filled up her mug. She dumped some milk and lots of sugar into it too and stirred it up before she went to perch on one of the kitchen chairs. She didn’t have any old memories tied to this house, of course, but they were definitely making some vivid new ones. She sipped on her coffee, her gaze drifting toward the dark kitchen window. Lem wondered how many other werewolves were out there who didn’t have access to a cage and people willing to take care of them.
