Re: Nic and Lem
“Yeah, seems a lot shittier in real life,” Lem agreed, leaning her temple against Nic’s shoulder as she looked at the unconscious mountain of fur. “But most things are, I guess.” The world was full of people who still had stars in their eyes from all the media they’d consumed over their lives. Lem liked to think she was a realist about most shit, but more and more she was finding herself pleasantly surprised about how not shitty having a quasi-boyfriend was. She didn’t know if it would last, if Nic wouldn’t turn evil at some point, but now she was invested in sticking around to find out. “Except you,” she added in a murmur, so he would know where her thoughts drifted.
“You too,” Nic smiled softly at her comment and wrapped his arm around her, holding her close. He was normally shit at relationships and generally expected all of them to fail eventually, but things with Lem felt different. They had been from the start. Maybe because neither of them was pushing for more, or because they both had low expectations, or because they’d never even established what they were. But Nic thought it was because they were a better match than usual. Lem seemed to get him. Somewhere along the way trust had been established. Things were good, even when they were watching a knocked out werewolf sleep through the full moon.
