Who: Sabrina and Mak When: Monday, November 13th, afternoon Where: School Status: Complete
Mondays sucked. Everybody knew that. School sucked too, for most kids. Adding the two together tended to just put Sabrina in a bad mood every time the weekend ended and she found herself back in this crappy building, surrounded by crappy people. Mostly crappy people. She had been grouchy nearly all morning, but by lunchtime, her mood lifted a bit and she hurried to get rid of some of her books in her locker so she could find Mak. Sabrina was well aware that if she were a bit smarter she and Mak would have probably had more classes together, but it was what it was. At least this gave her something to look forward to.
She went in search of her girlfriend, curious to know now if Mak had been cast in the fall play. Sabrina was not a thespian in any sense of the word, but she would totally go see the play if Mak got to dress up in costume. Sabrina vaguely remembered what A Midsummer Night’s Dream was about… a lot of weird magic and love triangles? Something. But she knew Mak had been excited about it, so Sabrina was hoping she got a good part. They all needed something to enjoy these days.
She spotted Mak ahead of her in the hall and Sabrina quickened her pace to catch up with her. “Hey,” she said with a nudge of her elbow and a smile. “Want some lunch company?”
Mondays did usually suck, especially dreary Mondays, but this one was kind of exciting, because the casting for the play had gone up. Mak had hurried to see what they’d decided first thing in the morning, looking for both her name and Sebastian’s on the list posted on the auditorium door. She did a little victory dance as she saw she’d been cast, and as the Amazon queen Hippolyta. Mak hadn’t really had her eye on any particular part, but she was happy to get the coolest-sounding one that wasn’t a lead. She didn’t need to be a lead.
She did another victory dance when she saw that Bash had gotten Puck like he’d wanted, and ended up smiling pretty much through the rest of the morning. When Sabrina caught up to her in the hall, Mak grinned over at her and bumped their shoulders together. “Hey!” she greeted happily. “And duh. Mom let me bring the car this morning ‘cause it was raining, you wanna go grab some takeout?” She slipped her arm through Sabrina’s to walk with her toward one of the side doors. Mak had planned to call her once she got outside and away from the school crowd, but this was even better.
"Oh, yeah totally," Sabrina said, thinking take out sounded a hell of a lot better than whatever she would end up buying in the cafeteria. Following Mak outside, Sabrina squinted a little, glancing up into the sky to try and figure out if they were going to get rained on. The sun was out finally, so maybe they would be okay. Weather could be so fucking unpredictable in this town. "So I think I bombed my geometry test, which blows, and Craig Forrester got sick in the seat beside me during Homeroom, so I keep thinking I smell like vomit even though I don't think he got any on me." She brought her arm up to her nose and sniffed once before sighing. "How's your Monday?"
Mak reacted with an appropriate girlfriendly “oh no!” to both of those things, looking sympathetic and kind of amused at the same time. Poor Craig! Puking in class had to be one of the worst things ever. She leaned in to sniff at Sabrina closer, then shook her head. “No vomit, only my delicious woman,” she declared, hugging Sabrina’s arm to her side. “Sorry about your test though, that sucks. Mine’s going pretty good, actually.” Mak tried to tone down her grin a bit, but didn’t really succeed at it. Hopefully her good news would lift Sabrina up too. “I got cast! As Hippolyta, so I’m like, an Amazon queen.” She tossed her head in a queenly fashion and tried to look regal, then had to laugh. “It’s not a huge part, but I’m good with that.”
It did suck, but at least she didn't smell like vomit! That was something, she supposed. Mak's news did make her smile and she wished she could remember who Hippolyta was. "Amazon queen? Like Wonder Woman?" Sabrina chuckled. "That's awesome though! I'm already excited to come see you. I hope you've got like, a sexy costume and stuff. What about Sebastian? I know you said he was at the auditions." It sounded like something fun, but Sabrina was just not outgoing enough to try out for a play and then... act in front of a lot of people. She would much rather be a spectator.
“Hell yeah, like Wonder Woman!” Mak agreed with enthusiasm. She didn’t really know if they were similar at all, she barely remembered the character from when she’d read the play a couple of years back, but it sounded cool, so she was on board with that. She chuckled over the idea of a sexy costume and shrugged her shoulders a bit. It was a high school play, so she doubted there would be anything really sexy about it, but who knew, right? “Yeah, he got Puck. Which was what he wanted, so I’m sure he’s stoked about it,” she said. She bounced a bit as she led the way toward her car. “You should help out somehow so we can have rehearsals and stuff together, like ... costuming or something. To make sure I’m sexy.” Mak flashed Sabrina a grin.
As much as she would like hanging out with Mak post-school, the idea of joining the play had her wrinkling her nose a bit. Not out of distaste or because she thought it was boring or anything, but she didn't think she would be any good at 'costuming' or even working with other people. "I'd probably join up with something where I didn't have to like, talk to a lot of people. Painting sets?" Sabrina suggested. "I don't know... something low key where I can maintain my anti-social rep... you know, if they're looking for people." She grinned and nudged Mak with her hip. "But if not, then I'll just be excited for you and like, help you with lines and stuff."
Mak was pretty sure that any job on a stage production required talking to people, as distasteful as that was. And she knew it was pretty distasteful to her girlfriend, so she wasn’t going to push. Still, Mak gave her a bright grin. “Okay you’d be totally hot with power tools,” she declared. “So even if you don’t pitch in, I definitely want to see you drill something someday, I’m just saying that now.” With a snicker, she pulled the car keys out of her pocket as they reached her mom’s car, and Mak unlocked it so they could both get in. “But yeah, I will totally need help with my lines, so that would rock.” She got settled and started up the car.
Sabrina released a low laugh in her throat at the thought of her standing around holding a drill or whatever. She'd probably want to use it to drill someone's eye out if they were annoying her. "I promise to invest in some power tools for sexy bedroom play," she teased. Climbing into the passenger side, Sabrina settled back and dumped her bag between her feets on the floorboard. "So anyone else we know get cast? It's going to be weird to see Sebastian dressed up like a fairy... Puck's the fairy, right? I can't remember. Did Hunter try out or anything?"
“Oooh, kinky,” Mak sing-songed with a grin. She’d actually seen some dildos mounted onto power saws or something in some porn she’d stumbled upon, and had been too amused to be aroused. “Puck’s a fairy, yeah,” she answered as she pulled out of the space and headed out of the lot and away from school. “There’s like, a fairy queen too? Tit-something? But nah, Hunter’s gonna do some behind the scenes stuff, Bash said ...” She named off a few kids who she’d seen on the casting list that Sabrina might recognize, but none of their other actual friends were in it. “I’m kinda nervous already. I didn’t actually think I would get anything,” she admitted with a huff, glancing over. “Hope it’s fun, though. What do you want for lunch? Moxie’s? Burritos?”
Sabrina couldn't help but wonder if she ought to do some behind the scenes stuff, just to have something to do. She wasn't sure how often they had rehearsals, or how long they went. It would kind of suck not to be able to see Mak until the weekends. And hopefully it wouldn't interfere with SAFE meetings either. She would probably just have to wait and see how things went. "Burritos sound good," Sabrina said after a moment of thought. "Moxie's may be too busy right now and we'd be late getting back. How's Hunter doing, by the way?" she asked as an afterthought. "I haven't talked to him much since... all that stuff went down."
Mak wasn’t sure how much it would take up her time either. She would have to talk to her boss at the library, but she was sure it wouldn’t be a big problem. Mr. Honeycutt was nice, and it wasn’t like the place really needed her there. Even on their busiest days, it was pretty easy work. She arched a brow a bit at Sabrina’s question, then pursed her lips to the side and glanced over at her girlfriend. “I’ve talked to him, but we haven’t like, hung out much. He’s all up Sebastian’s ass, you know ... in the metaphorical way.” She gave an immature little snicker, than shook her head. “I think he’s doing okay though. He sounds chipper whenever I talk to him. I need to steal him away for a weekend or something.” She paused, glancing over at Sabrina again before she reached to find her hand. “How are you? Halloween was ... weird.” They’d talked about it since then, but Mak still wanted to check in on her girl.
Sabrina wondered if Mak was upset with that.... Hunter spending so much of his time with Sebastian. Sometimes people forgot about their friends when they got a new boyfriend or girlfriend, and she knew how close Hunter and Mak were. Her girlfriend didn't seem upset, but that didn't mean anything. "I'm fine," she said with a shrug before looking out the window. "Halloween was super weird. Still creeps me out that something out there could like, affect how we behave. I don't think that I buy that it was the candy, because like, this whole town is weird and shit seems to happen a lot. But... I have a cool flapper costume for like.. prom or something," she added with a quick grin as she glanced at Mak. "What about you, though?"
Mak missed Hunter, but she kind of understood. If she hadn’t had Sabrina also occupying tons of her time and thoughts, she probably would’ve been more pouty about it. It was good timing for both of them, she guessed. But they did need to catch up, that was for sure. “Yeah, I don’t think it was the candy either,” Mak agreed, sounding doubtful. It hadn’t felt like something that had come on gradually, it had been like ... a switch had been flipped and she was a completely different person. A man, which felt ... weird. She’d been having some strange dreams since then, some of which had been oddly arousing, and Mak didn’t know how to feel about any of it. So she’d just tucked it all away in her mind and tried to focus on other things. “I dunno, it was ... strange. To not feel like myself, or like, in control,” she offered, then shrugged. “It’s over, though.”
"Yeah, it's over," Sabrina agreed. But it had been weird and scary in the sense that they hadn't been themselves. Not really. Being felt up outside wasn't something Sabrina was opposed to, but it would have been better if they had been doing it as themselves, and not some weird characters they had no real control over. Her lips twitched as she looked over at Mak. "You did look hot in a gangster suit though. Just saying." Thankfully things between them hadn't been weird. Maybe they were just used to shit happening in Point Pleasant that it didn't faze them as much anymore.
Mak did feel pretty weird about it, but she wasn’t sure how to talk about it. Feeling like a man, like she’d been possessed by some caricature of a guy and all the arousal and wrong body-awareness that had come with it had been strange in a way that wasn’t quite bad, just ... weird. She was still sorting out how she felt, even a couple of weeks later. Mak gave a little grin to the compliment and glanced over at Sabrina. “You were definitely the hot one though,” she told her. “But thanks! I felt pretty hot. Before ... y’know. And then during, too, I guess.” She chuckled faintly. “Maybe I’ll wear it again for ya sometime, dollface.”
"I'd like that a lot, sugar," Sabrina said with an exaggerated, flirtatious tone. "You were hot before and after, from what I remember. Too bad we really don't have another reason to dress up for awhile." She paused for a moment and then shrugged. "Unless you want to go to the Sadie Hawkins thing. I know it's not super formal or anything." Sabrina wasn't generally a 'dance' girl, but that was usually because she didn't want to dress up in expensive dresses and curl her hair and all that. But a casual dance might be fun, especially if they got to go with their friends.
Mak glanced over with a raised eyebrow, pleasantly surprised by that suggestion. She’d thought of it, of course, when she’d seen the posters for the dance, but she knew Sabrina wasn’t super into school functions like that. “Not super formal is my jam,” she said with a little grin. She knew it was Sabrina’s jam too, in spite of the number of skirts she had in her wardrobe. “And that would be awesome, if you wanna go. We even followed the rules! With the girl asking.” She laughed a little, slowing the car down to stop at a light. They were close to the burritos place now, and she hoped the drive through line wasn’t too long.
"Yeah, I guess technically we did," Sabrina said with a laugh. "It'll be interesting to see who asks who. Not that I'm super into school gossip, but I think it's a bit harder for girls to put themselves out there. But yeah, we could see if Hunter and Jade want to go and stuff." With Sebastian still closeted, it wasn't likely the two of them would be going together-together. "We can hit up Moxie's before the dance and everything. Look at me, making a night of it." She snickered and leaned over to grab her wallet from her bag. Since Mak drove, she planned on paying.
Hunter and Jade, for sure. Mak knew that Hunter would likely be feeling pouty all night long that he couldn’t be there with Sebastian, so they needed to rally around him and make him have fun. She wondered if Jen was going too, if she had someone to ask. Bash’s sister and Greg Wheeler would probably be there too. Mak wasn’t big on school gossip either, but she found that to be an interesting match. “Sounds like a good night to me,” she told Sabrina, shooting her a smile as she pulled into the parking lot. She gave a little bounce and happily tapped her hands against the steering wheel. “Yay, I’m glad you wanna go. We’ll make sure it’s fun!” She got in the line of a few cars and then leaned over to smooch Sabrina’s cheek.
She laughed a little and reached out to grab Mak's hand to hold while they were in line. "Let's just, like... make sure it's not freaky and weird, then we'll be able to have fun." Obviously she didn't think everything they planned to do in town would turn out like Halloween, but she felt oddly cautious about it now. Sabrina was no stranger to what this place could do to people. A school dance seemed totally safe on paper, but still... was she becoming too cynical for her age or something? It sounded like something her dad would say, which would have been funny given how cynical he was. "I'll leave it to you to ask Hunter if he wants to go with us.”
Things seemed to keep turning freaky and weird on them even when they started out normal, so Mak wasn’t sure how they would know that ahead of time, but she nodded anyway. They could definitely try to avoid the weirdness while they were there, if any popped up. She just wanted to do something nice and normal with her girlfriend, for fuck’s sake. “I will,” she promised with a smile about Hunter. “Me and him have a bunch of catching up to do, so. I’ll pin him down on something. And you’re gonna check with Jade, right? He’s so quiet, I can’t even imagine him at a dance, honestly.”
"Can you imagine me at a dance?" Sabrina pointed out. She wasn't quiet, but they weren't really her 'thing'. But she thought Jade would go if everyone else was going. "But I think he'll go, especially if we're all going to go. If he doesn't want to, it'll suck, but..." She shrugged and handed Mak some cash to buy their lunch. "Anyway, if Sebastian and Hunter can't exactly dance at the dance, I'm sure Hunter will need friends around to keep him from moping too much, right? The more the merrier."
“Uhhh, I’ve been imagining you at a dance for like, months now,” Mak said, flashing her a grin. So she daydreamed a lot about her girlfriend, even before she’d become her girlfriend, so what? That was normal, right? Mak almost protested Sabrina giving her money, but they were almost at the box, and she didn’t want to make it a thing, so she just took it. “Yeah, he’ll definitely need an anti-mope squad,” she agreed about Hunter. Then they were at the order box and Mak took care of that for them. “They’re not gonna like, make us match up boy-girl, boy-girl, right? Like you had to be invited by a girl? That would be stupid.”
Sabrina's brows rose and a smirk played at her lips. "Months, huh? Like, was it a fantasy thing like in the movies where you put make up on me and curl my hair and suddenly I go from this to like, prom queen?" She motioned at herself, most definitely teasing than anything else. "What's that movie... She's All That!" Sabrina snickered and then added, "I don't think they'll try to match us up. They said the girls had to ask the boys, but like... obviously they know they have LGBT kids in school. They should have said like, girls have to ask their dates out, or whatever. If they let us have SAFE, I can't see them telling us we can't dance together, because fuck that."
Mak laughed and shook her head, making a face. “Noooo, not like that,” she insisted. “Gross, prom queen. I mean like ... I dunno, just imagining you in some sexy dress that’s actually your style.” She wiggled her hips a bit in the seat and hummed an appreciative ‘mmmm.’ “Really though, just like ... slow dancing and making out with you, I don’t even care how we’re dressed.” She pulled up to the window, paid, and got their bag of food. Mak handed it over and pulled away from the building. “Yeah I didn’t think they would, I mean just like, if they require you to have a girl with you to get in or something. Dibs on Hunter.” Mak glanced over and teasingly stuck her tongue out at Sabrina.
"Hey, I could be prom queen," Sabrina insisted with a snicker. "I'd just have to get rid of Victoria Chapman and Jules Cooper. Though that quickly turns from teenage rom com to a horror film. But anyway, yeah we can definitely do the slow dancing thing, and even the making out thing... at least until a teacher yells at us." She took the bag of food from Mak and opened it, sighing happily at the smell. "You know, it's still fucked if they require a boy with you to get in. I get that it's a Sadie Hawkins dance, but there's no need to take it literally. If that's the case, we'd all be getting married to whoever we could chase down. But you can have Hunter, if it comes down to it." Sabrina grinned. "Or I'll dress up like a boy and you can call me Sam and we'll get past it that way."
“Definitely fucked,” Mak agreed. It was a long-outdated tradition, probably, though she did like the idea of straight girls being more proactive. She’d never understood the whole ‘wait for a guy to make the first move’ mentality that plagued heteronormative people. It sucked for the guys, it sucked for the girls, it sucked for everybody. She gave Sabrina a little grin. “Then we’d look like two boys together, I’ve already got the butch thing on lockdown,” she pointed out, amused. Maybe they should switch roles for a night or something. Mak turned back toward the school so they could park and eat and not be late getting back. “But whatever, we’re rule breakers anyway. We’ll do what we want and make it fun. And if they make it not fun, we’ll just leave and have fun somewhere else.”
Sabrina tried to imagine putting her hair up under a ball cap or something and wearing Mak's clothes. It was kind of fun to think about. They would get people talking anyway. "Yeah, we'll show them. We'll leave and go make out somewhere else," she said with a firm nod. "I'd say ask your mom if you could sleep over after the dance but if she knows about us going out, she'd probably say no." Her dad would be out drinking until the Porch closed, and then pass out on the couch anyway, so it wasn't like they'd be bothered. But Sabrina supposed she was getting ahead of herself since it was only Monday and they had a full week of school and crap ahead of them.
Mak’s mom probably would say no ... if she knew where Mak was going for real. But who said she had to? She didn’t like to lie to her parents, but this felt like a normal teenage sort of lie. She grinned wickedly through the windshield. “Well, I mean ... maybe I’m gonna spend the night at Hunter’s house, you know?” she said. “Like how you do with your besties after a dance. She wouldn’t check up on me.” At least, Mak was pretty sure she wouldn’t. Really, she didn’t know why it was such a big deal, it wasn’t like Sabrina could get her pregnant or vice versa or anything.
Sabrina's brows lifted briefly and she couldn't quite stifle the grin forming on her lips. "I think I'm a bad influence on you," she stated simply. "But I'm not complaining at all, because if you think she'll believe you, then you should definitely stay over." They could have some fun, at least! It would be kind of nice to fall asleep curled up next to her girlfriend for once. As long as she didn't inadvertently get Mak into trouble. "Hunter will cover for you, right?"
Mak laughed a little, because she’d already been primed for bad influences, she guessed. She was getting closer and closer to eighteen and independence, and if she wanted to spend the night with her girlfriend, she felt like she ought to be able to. “I’ve covered for him before, so yeah, he totally will,” she said, giving a wicked sort of grin. Thinking about it now made part of her want to skip the dance and just spend all that time with Sabrina, but it would be fun, so. Fun first, then More Fun later. “I’ll double-check with him to make sure, but yeah, I would really love to stay over with you.” She glanced over with more warmth than impishness this time.
"Then it'll happen," Sabrina said. She knew Mak wasn't a big fan of Sabrina's dad, but Sabrina didn't think he would be home early enough to be an issue. Maybe she could buy some weed off of Jasper and she and Mak could smoke it after the dance. It was something to think about, anyway. As long as Mak's mom didn't call Hunter's dad, she was pretty sure they would be in the clear. They were getting closer to school now and Sabrina was ready to scarf down her burrito before their lunch period ended. "Ugh, why does it only have to be Monday," she whined. "This week is going to drag."
“I know,” Mak groaned, drawing out the word to express her own displeasure. “It suuuucks.” She was sure once they got into it, the week would pass quickly, but Monday was the worst, especially with something on Friday to look forward to. She pulled them back into the school and found a parking spot again. Mak put the car in park but left the engine running for the heat and the radio, sipping her drink as Sabrina doled out their burritos. She was hungry, so she dove right into eating with a happy hum. “Do you work a lot this week?” she asked Sabrina.
Sabrina had a bite of food in her mouth so she shrugged at Mak's question and lifted a hand to cover her lips as she responded. "Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday. I should try to work more to get some more cash, but blah. I can only smile and be super cheerful so much, you know? I keep thinking of finding a job where I don't have to actually be fake nice to people, but I don't know that there's anything like that for teenagers right now. I just want to buy a fucking car already. Then I could probably quit and find something else to do."
Three whole days? Ugh. Mak hoped that Sabrina didn’t have an early shift on Saturday so they could stay up late Friday night. Or maybe they would just have to leave the dance early. “I would say come work at the library with me, but you make way more money in food service,” she said with a shrug. Mak had more money than Sabrina in general, because of her parents, but she’d only earned a small part of it from working at the library. She chuckled a bit then and grinned. “I’d love to see you with Mr. Wainscott though, you’d probably fluster the shit out of him. Poor guy’s really high strung, it’s hilarious sometimes.”
"I don't know if I like books enough to be around them all the time," Sabrina said with a grin. "Although flustering a high strung guy sounds pretty fun. I'll just keep that in mind if I come visit you at work some night. Do you have to work this weekend?" She didn't know if the library was like The Boathouse, where the weekends were the busiest days. Sabrina sort of doubted it since she was sure people needed to hit up the library far more often than they chose to go out to eat. Maybe.
“Just half a day on Sunday. The afternoon half, thankfully,” she answered before she took a bite of her burrito. Working at the library wasn’t the most exciting, but the work was easy and Mak took advantage of it when it came to being extra time for homework. Plus she liked books, so she could always entertain herself amongst the shelves. “You should totally come visit me though,” she added, tossing a cheesy smile at Sabrina. “So we can smooch in the stacks. That’s probably super corny, but indulge me, it’s a fantasy I have yet to fulfill.” Mak grinned.
"What?" Sabrina's brows lifted as she brought her hand up to cover her mouth again. Talking with one's mouth open was so not sexy at all. "That's like, a super easy fantasy to fulfill, I can't believe we haven't done it yet. So yeah, I'll come see you and we'll do that. And maybe fluster your boss in the process." That sounded like a fun Sunday, if you asked Sabrina. Much better than sitting around the apartment on her phone, which is probably what she would end up doing. "I'll have to try and think up some corny fantasy too. Seems only fair, right?"
Mak looked pleased as punch that Sabrina wanted to help her out with that. It was a dorky ask, maybe, but it would be fun, and she felt a bit naughty thinking about it already. Like what if Neil caught them? That would definitely fluster him, but it was kind of a dirty turn on to think about. Was she into public sex? Exhibitionism? Mak didn’t even know. That was what experimenting was all about, right? But even as a gangster dude, she’d wanted to fool around in public, so maybe that meant something. She laughed around her food at Sabrina’s conclusion, then washed it down with some soda and nodded. “Only fair,” she agreed. “But I’m game for whatever, whenever!” Mak wiped her mouth, then leaned over to kiss Sabrina’s cheek. “I’m all yours, babe.”
Given Sabrina lost her virginity in the back of a car, she wasn't opposed to public sex. She wasn't entirely sure she wanted an audience, but she had always been of the mind of don't knock it 'til you try it. "Let me Google some ideas and I'll let you know," Sabrina teased, grinning when Mak kissed her cheek. She took another bite of her burrito and looked toward the school, sighing inwardly. She so didn't want to go back inside. It was a decent day and she really felt the urge to ditch and go to the park or something. But... she had a test in the afternoon and she needed to focus if she wanted to graduate on time. Fuck. "Are you tutoring after school?" Sabrina asked after swallowing her bite. "If not, want to tutor me?" There was clearly a double meaning there, and in the way Sabrina looked at her girlfriend.
Mak wasn’t eager to go back in either, though she was putting down her food pretty fast. She wasn’t too tempted to skip though -- that wasn’t a habit she’d gotten into and she didn’t want to start her senior year. There was too much to accomplish to graduate with the kind of grades she wanted. But damn if that look on Sabrina’s face wasn’t tempting. “Hmm, let me check my schedule,” she teased, giving a wicked grin back. Mak didn’t look at a damn thing before she added, “Nope, all clear. Sooooo yeah, I am happy to help you with whatever subject you need some, uh ... extra attention in.” She’d been hoping for something like that, some plans for later with her girlfriend, and Mak was thrilled as always that Sabrina brought it up first.
"Pencil me in then," Sabrina said, relieved to have something to look forward to after school. She would have homework, but that could always be done later in the evening, or even tomorrow morning before school. Sabrina knew she ought to prioritize better to keep her grades up, but she would rather spend time with Mak, and Sabrina generally did what she wanted. Except now, apparently, since she was planning on going back into the building rather than somewhere else. She was starting to feel full even though she was only half done with her food and Sabrina groaned. "I ate too fast," she whined. "Blah. We need at least twenty more minutes for lunch."
It was very possible that Mak would have homework, but she would worry about that bridge when she came to it. She definitely wanted to spend some quality time with her girlfriend that didn’t involve stuffing their faces in a rush to get back to class. Mak finished up what she wanted of her burrito, then crumpled up all the trash to stick it back in the bag. “I know, right?” she agreed with a sympathy ‘ugh.’ Mak pulled her bag off of the floorboard in the back to dig around until she found her little tin box of mints. She plucked one out for herself and popped it into her mouth, then offered it over to Sabrina. “Want one?” They didn’t have a lot of time to kiss, but Mak didn’t want her smooches to taste like onions when they did.
Sabrina nodded and took a mint before slipped it into her mouth. She shoved her own trash in the same bag as Mak's and chewed on the mint. She probably didn't have time to smoke a cigarette either, which was a bummer. Oh well, there was always a couple minutes after school, or she could just take an extra long bathroom break next period. "Ready to go inside?" she asked Mak, wrinkling her nose a bit as they didn't have much of a choice. At least the day was half over, and they had pseudo-plans for after school.
“Almost,” Mak answered. She flashed Sabrina a little grin, then leaned over to kiss her. She knew they couldn’t just hang out in the car and make out, as tempting as that was, but she wanted one good thorough kiss to get her through the rest of the day, until they were together again. Mak enjoyed the soft lip lock while it lasted, then sat back again and dimpled at her girl. “Okay, now, yeah.” She turned the car off, made sure to tuck the keys away in her bag, then moved to get out and head back to dumb old reality.
