Who: Greg & Sebastian
Where: Greg's place, Overlook
When: Sunday afternoon, 10/29
Status: Complete
Greg took forever getting all the bodypaint off and the next morning he needed another shower to get whatever he'd been too tired to deal with the night before. The shower looked like a murder scene with all that red washing down the drain and it was very much in the Halloween spirit, honestly. He wasn't so sure he'd be bothered to do this again for the actual Halloween but maybe. He got out of the shower just in time to say bye to Hunter and by the time he'd came back from his room after getting dressed he found Bash lounging on the couch.
"Yo," Greg said, thoughts of kissing Phee fluttering through his mind and making him feel a little guilty - but also happy, ugh it was a mess. "You hungry, bro? I think I could eat like five pizzas by myself right now."
It was always hard for Sebastian to say goodbye to Hunter, not sure when he’d have time along with him again, but he needed guy time with Greg and knew he couldn’t lay around his guest room all day. So he’d kissed Hunter one last time, then returned to Greg’s room to flop down on the couch and wait, playing with his phone in the meantime. When Greg returned, he looked up and gave him a smile. “Starving. Moxies for pancakes? Or whatever, but I’m not in the mood for pizza.”
"You wanna leave the house?" Greg asked, sticking his tongue out in thinly veiled disgust before deciding that yes, maybe they should leave the house and go out for food. Bash could drive this time, Greg was still feeling the effects of all that booze the night before and he hadn't gotten laid, unlike Bash. "Moxies sound good, make that five burgers then." He yawned, a long and unrestrained wide mouthed yawn. "You're driving."
“Sure,” Sebastian grinned, rolling to his feet and grabbing the keys, along with his overnight bag. “Come on.” He was hungover still, but he’d had painkillers and water a good hour or so ago and didn’t feel as much like death as he had when he’d first woken up. He’d gotten to the point where food was necessary and if Greg wanted him to drive, that was fine. In fact-- “I’ll pay. I owe you, like, twenty burgers for last night. Maybe more.” It was hard to quantify good sex in burgers. They weren’t equal at all, but Sebastian wasn’t going to volunteer into the fifties or hundreds.
"Hey, I got your back bro," Greg chuckled. "Wingman forever, don't care if it's chicks or dudes." He grabbed his letter jacket as they headed out. "You got my keys?" he asked as he patted his pockets to make sure he had everything else. If Sebastian owed him anything he'd rather take the payment in acceptance when he finally told him about Phee and the kissing and all that stuff, which he was totally not going to tell him until after that weird-ass ritual thing.
“I know, but really,” Sebastian said, then pressed his palms together at his chest and gave Greg a little bow of thanks. “You don’t know how much this means to me.” To both of them, but Greg was more his friend than Hunter’s. He spun the keys around his finger in a show, then started leading them towards the door. He’d held onto them since last night, careful to leave the door unlocked, just as Greg had requested. “Did you have fun last night?”
"Everyone had fun last night!" Greg exclaimed and he couldn't help but think maybe Bash had heard something, somebody had seen him and Phee and texted Bash all 'OMG your BFF is tonguing your BB sister!' So he knew and he was seeing if Greg would tell him or not. Paranoia was the worst! "Didn't you have fun?"
Sebastian grinned, both brows raised at Greg’s enthusiasm, but he couldn’t disagree. Everyone he’d seen seemed to be having a fantastic time, despite Victoria hosting. Even Victoria hadn’t been so bad, if he recalled correctly. “Yeah, I had a great time,” he smiled. “Kinda surreal. Like, I think I might have put fog on the dance floor at one point, but I’m not sure if I really did that or if I was dreaming. It all kinda blurs together.”
"Yeah? Did you just... Lose control?" Greg asked. "Your sister was making her vines all flowery and shit so maybe you guys shouldn't drink much if you don't want people to see you're witches." It didn't make much sense though since Sebastian drank quite often and he'd never lost control of his magic before. Maybe it was a Halloween thing.
“I don’t think there was any way to connect the fog to me, but I dunno,” Sebastian said with a little frown. He’d have to ask Ophelia about that. He should’ve noticed if she was literally blossoming at the party. “Yesterday was weird. It was like… like I could barely keep it reigned in. Like it wanted an outlet. And when I’d do things, there was this surge, like… I dunno. It’s gone now. Hopefully the ghosts are too,” he said with a little shudder.
"The ghosts?" Greg asked, quirking a brow curiously. He'd seen things from the corner of his eye but it had all been so vague and he'd been drunk so he hadn't given it much thought. He was too busy having fun and it was Halloween so weird things were everywhere anyway. Tricks with lights and decorations. In other words, Greg had simply not noticed the ghosts that were popping up here and there around him.
“I didn’t tell you about that?” Sebastian asked, opening the door on the way to Greg’s car. “I was seeing things all day yesterday. Even on the way to the party. Phee was with me and she couldn’t see her, so… I dunno. I’m hoping they’re gone for good.” He’d thought he was seeing things at first, but it had continued all day and into the night. Once he got to the party, he’d forgotten about it, which was why he’d probably failed to tell Greg.
Greg shook his head. "You did not tell me that," he said but honestly he was pretty relieved Bash hadn't said anything. They'd had fun at that party and it had been a nice break from all the weird going on around them. "I thought I saw stuff too but I don't know, trick of the eye, you know? Now I'm not so sure. Think it was some Halloween magic?" It was a little weird to be a passenger in his own car so he initially walked to the driver's side before remembering he was making Bash drive and rushing to the other side with a little groan.
“Well… I was trying to forget about it,” Sebastian said, sure that was a good enough reason not to bring it up. It had freaked him out, and Phee when she’d been there, and he’d wanted to have fun. “They weren’t bothering me, just hanging around and disappearing, so let’s hope they’re gone now?” He hated not having a good explanation for it, but this might be one of those times that he just had to live with it. “If it was Halloween magic, it wasn’t mine,” he pointed out, smile turning up when Greg went to the driver’s side. “You sure you want me to drive?”
"Yeah," Greg said with a dismissive wave before getting in the car. "You're a lot perkier than me," he added when Bash got in the car as well. "I'm too damn tired to drive." He fastened his seat belt and shot Bash a little grin. "It was a fucking good night though, even Victoria was fun. At least I don't think she murdered anybody or anything."
“Just checking,” Sebastian said as he climbed behind the wheel. Greg’s car always felt huge compared to his whenever he got to drive it, which was rare. Even more rare with Greg riding shotgun. “Yeah, she wasn’t so bad once she got drunk,” he smiled. “I have a vague recollection of her hitting on me earlier in the night. At least, I think that was her.” He’d kind of blown her off at that point, looking for Hunter, but things had been better the next time he’d seen her.
"I hope you let her down easy," Greg said with a little chuckle. "Or she'll start spreading rumors that you're gay and it won't have anything to do with Hunter." He was joking but it was something he could easily see Victoria do, spread rumors, any guy who didn't want her was gay, any girl who didn't worship her was jealous. But no, she'd been fun that night, there had just been some seriously good vibes in the air.
“I’m pretty sure we’re good,” Sebastian smiled. “Last I saw her, we were singing together on her fireplace mantel. She didn’t seem too put out. I’m sure she found someone more capable than me.” Almost any guy at the party would’ve been a better choice in his opinion. Sebastian wasn’t worried about it at the moment, but he supposed he’d have to see what the rumor mill churned up come Monday. “Phee get home okay?” he asked, even though he assumed the answer was yes. It was just good to check in.
"Yeah," Greg replied, automatically trying to read Bash's voice for any hint that he knew something. "She took Hunter's sister home actually, they were both very drunk and giggly and happy so, you know, they'll be great sisters in law." He looked out the window as they got going. "How creepy was her costume though? Shit."
Sebastian laughed a little and nodded, glad that Jen and Ophelia had hit it off. That was nice, actually, since they were so often covering for him and Hunter. Plus, he thought Phee could use another friend. “Yeah, she’s kinda… I like her, but she makes me nervous sometimes. She’d hard to read. And I feel like she sees through me. But she’s cool.”
"She's clearly the evil twin," Greg huffed with amusement, well aware that this joke had probably been made many times before. "But yeah they seemed to be having fun. Jen was all rambling at me about my costume and how cool it was I took an orange cup." It was nice to focus on talking about something other than Phee since he feared talking about her would make everything clear as day to Bash.
“Oh, definitely, and she embraces it,” Sebastian smiled. “Being the evil twin and the black cup. What were you doing with an orange cup?” he asked, raising a brow. He was trying to see it from another point of view, how the straight guys were taking it, but then Greg was going to do whatever Greg wanted to do and no one would give him shit for it. He’d just laugh at them if they did. Sebastian had found the cups daunting, like people would know what he was if he took the wrong one.
Greg's line all night had been 'I like my ladies on top' with a bit of an attitude but it felt really uncomfortable to say that now considering the last lady he kissed was Bash's baby sister. "It was funny, I don't know," he replied with a shrug. "Less likely to get stolen from me, those guys are pussies, you know?"
“Just curious,” Sebastian said, glancing over at Greg. “Black seemed to be the team’s color, which kinda felt stereotypical, but also probably accurate.” Straight boys, in his opinion, were very rarely bottoms. “So, no new girls last night?” He’d done his best to hook Greg up, but found he really wasn’t any good at it. He had no idea what Greg was looking for in a girl and eventually decided he needed to stay out of it, even if he wanted Greg to be happy like he was. He’d get there eventually, likely without Sebastian meddling.
Greg gave him a sidelong glance, then rolled his eyes. "Dude, you totally cockblocked me by bringing your boyfriend to my house." He let it go with a laugh and reached over to smack Bash's arm playfully. "Kidding! Jesus. You guys were loud though, fuck. Needed earplugs and a white noise machine to drown that out." He was joking and his grin said as much but it was hard not to tease Bash. "Was it you or Hunter that made that really weird sound?"
There was a second where Sebastian’s eyes got really big and his mouth opened to protest that, no, he totally didn’t cockblock him! But then Greg was laughing and blowing it off before he could make a proper apology. Sebastian could feel his face heating up and he bit his bottom lip as he grinned through it. “You should wear headphones. Or turn some music on. The walls are too thin and I don’t even know when you got home,” he said, laughing in embarrassment. “We’ll try to be quiet next time. Maybe. No guarantees.”
"I didn't hear shit," Greg said, still laughing. "I'm just joshin with ya." He put on a bad fake southern accent, glad that Bash seemed pretty distracted now. No more talk of Phee, he'd tell him about it all after that weird ritual. "But seriously, you guys can come hang out whenever, whether I'm there or not, you know? Bros support bros."
“Asshole,” Sebastian laughed, swatting at Greg as he drove. He knew he wasn’t quiet in bed, but it was really hard to care about it once he was wrapped up in Hunter. It hadn’t been a problem so far, but he suspected he’d have to learn to keep quiet at some point. “Really? Like… You’re sure? Cause I don’t want to take advantage. I’ll be buying you breakfast every weekend till we go to college.”
"You'd be taking advantage if I was some poor asshole you weren't friends with who was desperately trying to get to know you by offering but dude, you're my bro. I'm your bro. You can pay me back if one day I have an affair and my wife can't know about it or something." Which he really hoped he wouldn't do but it was the closest analogy he could come up with without actually mentioning dating Bash's sister. Being with someone nobody could know he was with? Yeah, that just sounded gay.
“Dude,” Sebastian said, giving Greg a look. “Don’t ever ask me to help you cheat on someone. You won’t like the result.” Because, as his brother, he would sit him down and set him straight. It didn’t matter how much Sebastian might not like the girl, no one deserved to be cheated on. “If you ever find yourself in a situation where you’re not happy in a relationship and have found someone else, break up with the girl first. Don’t cheat on her. You’re better than that.”
Greg sighed because yes, it had been a terrible analogy. "I don't think I'd ever cheat on anyone," he promised. "I'm just trying to find something I'd have to keep a secret and get your help with and I seriously can't think of anything. " Well, that was a lie, wasn't it. A bold faced lie. It made him feel a little guilty but fuck, maybe it had just been a kiss and nothing more would come of it. Maybe Phee would tell Bash all about it and be all annoyed at herself for drunkenly kissing Greg because she suddenly remembered she hated him or something. God he hoped not, he already felt like an asshole for not telling his best friend.
“That’s okay,” Sebastian said, shooting him a smile. “I wouldn’t want you to be in my place. This secret stuff sucks. But even if I was out, I still couldn’t take Hunter home with me. I’m not even sure I could have taken Jules home with me.” Not to spend the night, at least. His parents probably assumed he was having sex, just like everyone else, but they didn’t want it happening under their roof. “I keep thinking about coming out. Just… biting the bullet. But I feel like I need to get past all this other shit first, you know?”
"Yeaaaah," Greg said, his voice a little pinched and the word drawn out. "Maybe wait?" He gave his friend a smile that was more of a grimace really. Maybe they were being paranoid and maybe Bash's parents didn't suck as bad as Greg worried they did, but was it worth the risk? "Just keep hanging out at my place, I'll cover for you as long as you don't ditch me completely for your boyo."
“I have a plan. Kinda. A timetable. We’ll see,” Sebastian said, giving Greg back a tight smile in return. His parents were probably going to react badly no matter when it happened. “You know I’d never ditch you,” he smiled. “Though, we were talking about college last night. We might want to think about sharing a suite instead of a room. Unless you really did want to invest in a white noise machine and a year’s supply of ear plugs.”
"Yeah, I don't... Know if I'm going to college," Greg said. "I've been thinking a lot about it and it seems like a total waste of money if you're not going into... you know. That kinda work." He'd never quite decided what he wanted to do after high school but lately it had started forming more in his head and it definitely didn't look like college.
“Really?” Sebastian asked, so surprised that he didn’t know what else to say. It felt like only a few weeks ago that they’d been talking about it and Greg hadn’t said anything then, but maybe they’d been speaking in a broader sense. Or maybe he’d just been so deep in his own little world that he’d missed something. Something big. He was suddenly really glad that he had Hunter, more than even before, as he felt his world slant sideways. “What do you think you wanna do?”
"I don't really know," Greg replied. "I'm just kinda sick of school so I'm thinking maybe I'll learn to be an EMT or something, or just take a year off?" He gave Bash a little smile, reaching over to punch him lightly in the shoulder. "Don't worry, bro. I won't let you go off all on your own or anything, unless you go to college somewhere super shitty."
“Want to ride the ambulance?” Sebastian asked with a little smile. “If I end up going to nursing school, you can bring people to me someday.” Maybe. It was still an idea he was bouncing around in his head. Sebastian liked the idea of helping people and could see himself enjoying that kind of work. “Even if we don’t room together, you better come party with me. I promise to go some place good. My goal is some place with a beach, but we’ll see.” Honestly, his only requirement now was that he and Hunter both get in.
"If you go to California I'll be right behind you," Greg told him with a grin. "And you totally should, we can be coworkers and bicker about how to do stuff correctly. Or not, I don't know, I only know that stuff from TV and fuck if I understand half of the crap they spew on there." Or if it was accurate. It probably wasn't. "Have you talked to your boyfriend about where he wants to go?"
“We’ve talked, but not about specific schools. He’s got a spreadsheet, so we’re gonna map it all out and prioritize and then see where we actually get in,” Sebastian smiled. “I think we have lots of applications to write and scholarships to apply for. California’s the dream, but I could also be happy in Florida. Or really, anywhere warm. A beach is a plus.” And Hunter was a must.
"He's got a spreadsheet," Greg echoed serious only as he said it before he laughed again. "God, he sounds perfect for you, couple of dweebs." A fucking spreadsheet, it was so ridiculous but then Greg couldn't really judge since he geeked out just as hard over Warhammer. "So the next time you say you were hanging out with your boyfriend going over spreadsheets it won't just be a tacky way of saying you were boning."
“There’s a lot to consider!” Sebastian grinned, turning the car into Moxie’s parking lot. “I’m glad he’s got a spreadsheet because all I’ve got right now are stacks of applications and no proper way to sort through them.” It was almost like doing a research project. He was normally more organized, but he’d had so much going on lately that it had gotten away from him. Sebastian rolled his eyes and glanced over at Greg as he went to park the car. “I didn’t realize spreadsheets could ever be mistaken for sex. Should I be more revealing in my lies? More conventional?”
"As an excuse, jackass, you know what I mean," Greg groaned and rolled his eyes before getting out of the car. "You're buying me two milkshakes now, fuck." He shot Bash a grin before heading into Moxie's, more than ready to chow down on some combination of greasy, fatty and sweet. "What are you having?" he asked once they were inside, stifling a yawn as he looked around for a good spot to sit.
“Good God, I’m going to have to roll you home,” Sebastian teased, locking the car and pocketing the keys. “I’ll probably have pancakes, bacon, eggs, and potatoes. All the breakfast. Savory and sweet.” He didn’t care that it was past noon, since that’s what sounded good. He’d work it off at practice later in the week. Right now all he cared about was getting over his hangover and hanging out with his best friend.
