Where: along the parade route
Status: Closed, complete
Tris had fairly minimal interest in the parade itself, but it was something to do, and he'd rather not have his students wondering where he was. Not that he imagined most of them cared, but there was always - always - one worrier every year, who would ask where was he, was he all right, why didn't he come out, and so on and it was simply easier to make showings at town functions. Besides, it was always kind of interesting seeing people outside of normal circumstances. Seeing the students outside of class, seeing the adults on holiday. The ones that had holidays, anyway; a lot of places were still open, especially retail ones. Sales, sales, sales, and spa appointments, and doctor appointments, and everything else people couldn't accomplish during work hours. Well, the people that weren't working today, anyway. He'd walked, because why not? The parade was going to meander down the road and there was a place to watch not too far from where he lived. It was a nice enough day - almost chilly for this time of year - but it suited him fine. He was dressed in jeans, sneakers that had seen better days, a plain navy blue tee-shirt over a white long sleeve shirt, with a pair of sunglasses folded and hooked on the front of the shirts in case it got sunny. People who didn't know much better might even mistake him for one of his students, and that thought amused him a little. He did dress more or less professionally (even if it was heavy on the casual part of casual professional) at school, but he felt no need to do so on his days off. Milling with the crowd, careful not to bump anyone, Tris mingled with the people already present. |
