Jaime nodded slightly, but ... she imagined word had spread once they'd had the contractors in. It was probably hard to miss people going in and out and a giant dumpster for debris, and if this place was anything like home, there had to be at least a couple people who liked to flap their lips and wag their jaws and spread the gossip.
When Jade hesitated at the fence, she almost waved him in but thought better of it. She trusted the horses just fine, but she'd also grown up with them, and now that she was in the paddock, Belle was a little interested in what was going on. She got how it could be intimidating for people if they'd never met a horse to be in an enclosed space with two of them.
So she smiled a little as she wrapped her fingers around Reggie's halter to lead him over to where Jade was at the fence. "It's fine," she said to the horse. "He's not a cannibal. I'm pretty sure," she added with a little smile to the boy as Reggie hung his head over the fence to sniff at Jade.
