There were enough odd things that happened here in Point Pleasant that Jade wasn't thrilled to hear that the horses had free run of the place. It would be much safer if they were tucked into the barn at night, in his opinion. "I dunno about cougars... they said in Maine History class that cougars and wolves are both scarce around here," he said. "But sometimes there's maulings. Could be wild dogs, I guess."
He hated trying to play the ingenue and pretend he didn't know that things could get strange and dangerous fast around here sometimes, but he didn't want Jaime to think he'd lost his mind. He brightened when she mentioned getting guard dogs. "Good idea. If it was me, I'd feel safer with some rottweilers around. Do they like horses?" Hopefully they would or could be trained to, he thought.
