Jaime spared a glance to the paddock, but both of the horses were cropping at the grass, tails occasionally twitching at the late summer bugs. Not many, she noted, but she'd be sure to set up a zapper anyway.
Otherwise, she reasoned it wasn't so different from home.
Heading to the house, she unlocked the door and wedged it open with a doorstop before gesturing him to proceed, an amuse smile on her lips before she dropped the back of the truck to make sliding things out easier. Then she undid the bungees holding down the tarp, sweeping it off so they could start.
God there was a lot of crap. Why the hell had she thought she needed to pack up half the house? Even without the furniture, there was a shit ton of boxes. Mostly books and horse models, she knew, but ... yikes.
But Jade seemed to have a handle on it, so she hopped up onto the truck's bed, scooting along the edge to nudge a few things closer to the dropped tailgate before she carted in one of the boxes herself, moving to the furnished but unpersonalized living room. Plunking the box down, she sighed again and started out toward the truck again. It was nice having help though, even if help was a stranger who happened to have come by.
